How in the world is 50 shades of grey so popular... I am completely baffled.
I heard of it, but didnt care to read into it, then saw a video of a few people doing voice impressions reading a chapter outta the book from Nicholas cage, to Gilbert gottfried, to mickey mouse and porky pig and It was just an entire what the **** moment after I stopped laughing.

I actually prefer the twilight fanbase over this nonsense I don't get it. Atleast that... I don't know. Sorta made sense as to why young teenage girls liked it

Whenever I hear this title all I can think about is this.
I haven't read the book, but still I don't understand the hype. So I've read there's a lot of sex in there. So what? The internet is full of that stuff, what's so special about this book?

It sounds sort of like Twilight for adults, in that it's impossible, teaches young women stupid lessons, should not exist, has a massive fan-base, and is simply useless and maybe degrading to the literary world.

That may have seemed a bit harsh, but I don't really have anything against it, seeing as I have not read it.

I just read the book's plot on Wikipedia, and it sounds rather boring to me. Its success surely only comes from its origin as a Twilight fan fiction.

So, my final question is: What is this world coming to?

Aww Silver, Ill get that book for you on your birthday, no worries.

I also had to read the plot of the book, and it sounds really, really boring. If people want to read erotic novels, there's plenty online. If people want sex plus a good book.. there's always GRRM... Or "sagan om isfolket" but i think thats only available in swedish and norwegian.

Sounds cool. Wiki says it has recently been translated into English. And another book series for my to-read list! :D

Yeaah, seems the 7 first has been translated. It's a really special and good series, worth reading for sure! :D
Its a pity they havent made a bigger breakthrough with the english-reading audience.

    Never. I don't want it.

I looked it up and apparently its not even well written people are just crazy about the sex in it or something. sad stuff.

heh I've got a few good books that also have sex (pretty damn well described too) in them. An they're all proper historical fiction!

I think that people like it is because some loser girl is for some reason picked out by some guy that seems cool, so apparently that's special. Oh, and yeah, as you said, there might just be a bit of kissy-wissy stuff.

It's BDSM that you can buy at Asda (Walmart). Warmed over Gor taken out of the back street shops and put on the supermarket book counter at 3 for 2 sale price. I read a few pages, that was enough.

It's cheaper just to go on the internet anyway...
