Calling all scribes.... In another thread in the discussion forum, somebody mentioned that we need a magic system based on beer and Lodriraj responded that she might write a short story about that. That gave me an idea that we could hold a short story contest for a short story illustrating the use of a creative and original magic system. The rules: - stories have a maximum of 5000 words - your story must be your original work that you write specifically for the contest (so that everyone has the same time-frame to write and edit it in) - once the contest begins.. entrants have a month to write it and then a period of 3 days to post it in the scribe's house under "original works" - I kinda think we have to write them in English since everyone here speaks/reads it to some degree or other - stories will be judged on: originality of the magic system and it's dissimilarity to other magic systems commonly found in fantasy stories, how enjoyable or intriguing the judge found the story to be, how well the magic system was integrated into the plot and how well the story was resolved. Grammar and spelling errors will be disregarded out of respect for those contestants whose native language is not English. And the prize for the winner is.... Earning the distinguished title of: TFF's Most Creative Scribe (I know... the prize is terrible but I'm at a loss to come up with anything better... any ideas?) We also need a judge... any takers? Soooooo... if there's any interest in doing this: post your name below to enter (or judge) and we'll get the contest rolling.
