I didn't see anyone matching your photo at our family reunion either (though there were plenty of people around your age there). Somehow I think we probably aren't related. That's too bad Druid... the volleyball game looked to be a lot of fun and I could have used your signature on my family bingo sheet. (We each got a sheet of paper with squares on it and each square had a phrase such as: "has a fear of spiders" or " has been to the grand canyon". We had to find someone who matched each square and get them to sign it.) I think I was the only family member present who had a Twitter account and you weren't supposed to sign your own name on your own sheet. :p

Haha, well, your family reunion certainly sounds like much more fun than mine (grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary and in the entire family, only they have grand-children, which number at 5, so we were kind of bored among all the oldies).
I love volleyball :D And I guess that the signature you needed was from someone who had a Twitter account?

And if we were related, I think that my link would actually be through your husband ;) heh

It was fun! Some of the "kids" have really grown since we last saw them. They're heading off to college this year and I still remember them when from when my husband and I were dating. At that time they were barely more than toddlers...... OMG I feel OLD!!!!!!!!! :p

and yes....it took me ages to find someone with a Twitter account (besides myself of course). Had you been there I'd have been able to snag you for an autograph! :p

From what you've said before, you could still be very young, as you two started dating at a young age :)

As to the autograph, I'm sure I could send you one :D I've just done a large signing in London and I might be on tour in Toronto soon ;)

I'll be first in line at your tour for an autograph then.

Ooh, that's more than double my age :D ;)

You'll probably want to start queuing now. Not sure where exactly, but I've heard that expectations are that queues will be starting tomorrow.

Where did Tur go? I sent in a pic a few days ago but I'm not sure if it works... or am I sending the pics to someone else? Or am I way behind or ahead or... *is confused*

heh, I know that feeling and I'm not even 23 yet. I remember life before either of my little cousins were born and now they're as almost as tall as their 6' 5'' dad.

In the other thread, pics are displayed. I'm sure that once Tur is online, he'll add your picture to them. Otherwise, I'm sure you can post them there yourself, as long as you make sure that there is no explicit material.

@SJ: judging by your age in relation to mine, you could only be a canadian mum *giggles and runs around, out of mum's reach*.

I don't see why you can't be added still. Tur probably just hasn't logged on lately to see your PM.

    Yup.... that's the one...

    ????
definition of "Canadian mum" required for me to comprehend that one :p

It was difficult to write in a concise way: knowing your age and knowing my age, it's only because your canadian that you could be my mum :D

Near as I can figure out, Druid's father was in Canada approximately nineteen years ago.

It doesn't really matter, I was speculating that if I were slightly older than I am, or that you were slightly younger than you are (which I take it you'd like to be;)) then if you were my mother, the age at which you would have had me would have been rather young, which only happens in Canada.

But my brain wasn't thinking right the first time I said it and calculated the ages, because if you were my mother, you'd have been 20, coming on 21 when I'd have been born, so there's nothing out of the ordinary there.

Are you perhaps confusing Canada with West Virginia?

Sorry, but I don't get the reference. :(

In Europe, I would have actually said that for England, as there are many young mothers there.

There's a long-standing stereotype of early motherhood in the Appalachian Mountains. The standard joke is that a virgin in West Virginia is any girl who can run faster than her brothers. Obviously grossly unfair, although an isolated rural population can't survive without a certain amount of inbreeding.

The twin modern stereotypes of a woman either being poor and having a fourth child (or ninth abortion) by the time she's twenty, or being career-obsessed, childless and bitter at forty both have a disturbing ring of truth all over North America these days.

Well since I had my first baby at 28 I guess that means I'll just have to adopt you Druid. That way you can come play volleyball at our next family reunion and sign my family bingo game page. :p

Ooh, I would not mind that! I'd love to see Canada :)

(As an an absurdist) I think that I'd fit in perfectly :D

Are canadians allowed to make fun of americans? I know that it's always happening the other way, but I didn't know whether you were all too nice in the north.

OMG... you've never heard of Rick Mercer have you?
The funny thing is you probably won't understand any of the jokes since you're not Canadian.
We love our southern neighbours to death and I think they feel mostly the same way about us. Still, that doesn't stop either nation from making good-spirited fun of the other.... :D
Americans love making fun of us too :D
