Yeeeeaaahhhh... me too. I don't think I'll ever publish the first trilogy I wrote because of that whole "OMG I can't believe I wrote it that badly" phenomenon. I love that story and I think it had some neat ideas in it, but nobody but me will ever read it. :D

@LY: everybody gets mixed reviews, even the big-name, traditionally published authors. You just can't please everyone all of the time.

@Emerlas: judge, judge! Where's Bel? I thought she was interested in judging too....?

Not sure. Not sure whether she would want to go through the works again... but I invited her just now to give her opinion regardless :)

Maybe not, but I thought she had posted in the beginning of the thread that she'd like to judge again...?
I'll see if I can find that post.

edit: she did say she would like to, but in the other thread: Is anyone interested in doing a short story contest again? that I started:
maybe she'll let you know if she's still interested.

Also: did we ever resolve the pairs/partners issue? Several people expressed interest in having a partner (Sparrow and LY I believe). Are we making that an option or have we dropped the idea?

    lol - Nicci French :p

I'd be fine to have a pair of writers join, as long as they are able to make groups themselves. It'd be interesting to do a compulsory round of pairs, but we can keep that for another time.

So, yes, I'd say have people pair up if the feel more confident that way. However, I would like to see pictures submitted by both contestants. Naturally, the pair can't pick either of the pics they submitted.

It does raise the questions of prizes though... I haven't given that much chance. Maybe I'd need to find a pair of something, to be split if the group should win. I dunno, salt and pepper grinders. Wedding rings. Trousers.... What else comes in pairs?

I was also interested in writing pairs and find it might add an extra challenge (or might help less experienced writers, non-native english speakers, etc.).

@Emerlas: yes you should judge! You like cookies right? :D

    These do: [IMG] :D

    Ah yes.

    Pun intended, I presume? :D

To be honest, I prefer these:

Yes yes it is and I do too, but I wasn't sure whether they actually existed (I was confused between greens and blacks [and not Green & Blacks {another pun intended}]).

lol! good idea Tur... each pair could come up with a team name for their author duo...hee hee hee!
    Hmmm.... paired prizes.....
I think wedding rings are out unless you're going to officiate at the ceremony. Also, some of us already have a wedding ring.
What about socks? Finally there'd be a good reason to have only one sock of a pair.... or at least a better one than that the gremlins in your washing machine ate one of your socks. Besides, who wouldn't want an official TFF victory sock? It couldn't possibly be any worse than last year's cheesy banner prize. :D

Judges need to work together to compose a bardic tale lauding the author's exploits as a writer. That would be a hoot.

Like something really gnarly and midi with everybody just doing some base crooning.

Sorry to break the cheesy mood, but Beldaran has confirmed that she will be judging and is ready for it.

It seems the emperor was not the only one fooled by that trick.

In! Trying to catch up on writing for other stuff atm, but should be good to go by the time this one is up and running.

Wait? Am I judging or writing on this one Tur?

Anyone wanting a potential partner should ask them before this begins I guess.

You read the stories, then confer with the other judges so as to decide on the points given. You then write a little commentary.

how long have the writers been given to write their stories?
