He was trying to in 2000 but never got enough support. He might try again though.

I think Colin Powell will try for presidency--- would make sense why he's leaving now.... Leave now, so that you are then disassociated with what is going on in Iraq, and all that will be left are good ol' memories in four (maybe 8) years time. I wasnt surprised when I heard he had resigned, had thought of him doing this before.

I am thrilled that Agriculture Secretary, Ann Veneman, is gone. I was more than thrilled at that!

The damage she has caused to the Canadian cattle industry, and possibly my future, is enormous. Hopefully now they will get someone worthy of the job in.

As for Colin Powell, it's unfortunate to see him go. I don't know to much about Rice, but judging from the general opinion I have seen on T.V. and the net, she doesn't sound like she will be as good as Powell.

I think Rice is a poor choice for what is basically a diplomatic position, she is better suited for a more political position like Sec Def, or VP... but I dont understand why byz doesnt like her...

As for being as good as Powell.. his results have been poor at best. His insistance on fighting internal discussions in the newspapers guaranteed his departure.

Bush has this thing for blaming people for things they didn't do.

I heard on the news last night that Rice is very much a "Yes" woman to President Bush. Do you guys think she'll be a rubber stamp for Bush, or will she assert herself in the position?

I think she's a brilliant lady, but since she agrees with Bush on almost everything and she's one the the few people he listens to, he'll be thinking that his decisions are always right.

I still think Mr Powell was a brave guy who was overridden by the decisions of the rest.
