Facing off against this new Gato opponent, Ros waited for him to make the first move. The first move would always decide how the fight went, and Ros wanted to make sure it went his way. But suddenly, out of nowhere, Lilith appeared behind the Gato student. Whispering something in his ear, Rosgwak briefly noted that her hand was bleeding, and he made a mental note to check up on that after. But, as quickly as she had appeared, Lilith disappeared back into the fight again, leaving the Gato sufficiently distracted.

Wanting to end this senseless fight quickly, Ros thrust at his right arm with lightning speed, and instead of withdrawing his rapier gently, ripped it straight out through the side, eliciting a scream of pain from the Gato student as he dropped his sword. Then, using the momentum he'd gathered, Rosgwak continued on his course around, making a high diagonal slash down, which was blocked, as he had hoped, by his opponent. Drawing his rapier along his enemy's blade and down, Rosgwak thrust home once more, into his other sword arm, then in one quick movement Ros drew his free rapier across the student's knees, dropping him to the ground in pain. Then, retreating, Rosgwak looked around for Lilith, to thank her, but he couldn't see her anywhere. Wordlessly kicking aside the other student's rapiers, Rosgwak once again moved towards the mages to help defend them, wondering just when this brutal battle would end.

Looking at her would-be attackers Confessor saw their skill levels in her mind. The mage that Dragn was fighting was beginner while the three that circled around her were two beginner white mages but the black mage was an advanced one. None of them had begun their weapons training. She held her sword at bay as the white mage made the utter mistake of attacking head on. The frail girl ran at her and jumped at Confessor but Confessor easily dodged the girl as she fell onto her face. They had to lure these mages out of the library no matter what the cost. Confessor figured it was time enough to show these goofs what she was made of.

She pulled off her white with golden embroidery cloak and tossed it onto a nearby chair that was behind the book checkout counter. The remaining male students stood with their mouths wide open astonished at her looks. Confessor didn't flinch or dare move. The first black mage shook his head and chanted a fire spell. Confessor grinned. Her weapon would channel the fire spell and use it as its own magical source. The idiot boy didn't know what he was doing but she wasn't about to stop him. He finished the chant and threw the fireball at her as if it was a baseball. Holding her sword in front of her body the fireball immediately slammed into the mighty weapon and pushed Confessor a few feet back. The boy stood dumbfounded as Confessor's sword caught aflame once more but this time the flames were of vengeance.

The second black mage fled the scene screaming in terror as he saw the flames but before he got to the door Confessor was instantly in front of him and the last thing he saw was her smiling face as she drove her blade home into his heart. During the process however, she left herself open to a slow spell the white mage cast upon her. For the next five minutes the slow spell would make her vulnerable to weapon attacks but considering none of them had any weapons she wasn't worrying.

Closing her eyes she cast an auto haste spell on her and Dragn increasing their agility by twenty percent of its normal value. With lightning quick speed Confessor jumped over a table and landed behind the mage with a horrible ice spell in her right hand. She drove her hand hard against the girls chest freezing her entire body and making her immobile. The spell would wear off in three hours.

As the remaining black mage watched in horror as his girlfriend went down because of the ice he turned his angry stare onto Confessor. "Foul wench!" he hissed as he cast a water spell on Confessor's sword dousing the flames. On his part that was a smart but stupid move - by doing that it left him defenseless against the attack she had already placed. You see as she moved past him to battle his white mage girlfriend Confessor had cast a toad spell on the boy. Therefore he didn't notice his feet were now green and covered in warts and when he looked down he saw numerous warts covering his flesh. Horror flashed across his facial feature and tried to yell another spell at Confessor but only found himself croaking like a bull toad. He pleaded with Confessor to stop the spell but she didn't. Instead she cast a stop spell on the transformation followed by a mute spell and a paralyzing spell. The half boy half frog fell down onto the floor unmoving.

"Idiots." Confessor muttered as she looked over at the damages done to the library. Luckily nothing had been burned or mutilated. The only problem she saw was they were going to have to apply a new coat of paint and fresh painted magic logo on the back wall above the fountains. She walked outside and checked around the premises and returned nodding. The area had been cleared but where we here students who were supposed to be protecting the library? That was very strange they were not here unless they ran into trouble while going to the library which was the only solution she could think of. She walked over to the checkout desk and picked up her cloak. Shaking the dust and dirt from it she put it back on. Walking over to Dragn she checked to see if he was all right.

Shogun had been going through various areas of the school before returning to the commons. Anyone he'd come across that wasn't wearing the proper uniform was promptly beaten down, but by now there were hardly any students on the school grounds without Sempai uniforms that were still walking. He considered heading to the library, but decided against it, Dragn and Confessor had both gone that way. Odds were there wouldn't be any other teacher level people in the school, the one he'd faced had been highly unusual, so he assumed the two most powerful magic users Sempai had, teacher and student, could handle them.

What was really bothering Shogun was the overall lack of strength they'd found in their opponents today. There had been numerous bulky invaders, but aside from the one that had taken everyone to beat none of them had been able to measure up to the Sempai fighters. Shogun wanted answers, but that would require interrogation, something he didn't think he'd be able to do considering most of the Gato students still in the school were either dead or in too bad of shape to talk.

There were a number of rumors going around, some believed Gato had done this simply to assert themselves as a new alpha school. Shogun knew better, Gato had never concerned itself with rank much. That was ironic because as long as Shogun had been aware Gato had always been in the top five for magic and kung fu teams, and after the formation of a weapons division they'd been ranked number two, right behind Sempai. The rumors for cause of the invasion didn't matter much to him, however the rumor that Kenshin had managed to somehow create a small volcano effect in combat did, he'd have to talk to the newcomer a little later on.

He didn't mind, the fighting was over, Sempai High had repelled the first invasion of the year. It was kind of ironic, last year there had been lots of invasions, but the first major one had been Sempai's "invasion" of Munt High, the super fighter school. Sempai had won that battle, and their invasion force had numbered far less than twenty. Yes there was definitely something strange going on with this invasion, how he'd uncover it he didn't know, that is, until he ran into Lillith, who happened to be dragging two unconscious Gato students behind her as she walked. Shogun smirked to her as he carried one on his back and they brought the two to the kung fu training room.

They had one hour before the second to last class of the day. Although there had been an invasion students were still expected to stay on school grounds for the remainder of the school day, even if they didn't choose to go back to class. For Shogun it didn't matter, his last two classes were in the kung fu room, one of which had Lillith in it as well. So he'd stay, even if his original lesson plan for the day was now much different than the interrogation lesson that iwould now take place.

When they entered the room Shogun suddenly remembered he'd had the magic students from the library brought there for safe keeping. He also noticed something else, Lillith was bleeding badly from her hand. Without saying a word he entered the office in the room, grabbing a new shirt for himself since he'd lost his against the big brute, and some athletic tape. He wrapped Lil's hand, it wasn't much, but it'd do until she got to someone who could tend to it better.

Next there was Jeze. She was still clearly exhausted from her battle with the Gato instructor, she wasn't going to get anything done in any classes, even the half assed ones that tended to follow invasions. He consulted her about it briefly, then got out some mats and let her sprawl out and go to sleep on those. The kung fu students who entered the room for class wouldn't question this, it was well known that Shogun didn't tend to answer questions about things that seemed unusual in the class from day to day. The fact that they'd seen much stranger things sitting around the kung fu room than a sleeping girl also meant her presence wasn't likely to faze them.

    The invasion was over.
Kenshin was extremly happy about that. He really wasnt expecting so much action only a few hours into the school year. Kenshin decided it would be wise to go make sure everything went well insided the school.

As Kenshin began to patrol the halls, he noticed piles of bodies everywhere. Luckily, not many of them were Sempai students. As he paused to examine a body of one of the attacking students, Kenshin noticed a shadow cross over his head. He pretended not to notice, and continued to walk down the hall.

When he reached the stairs, Kenshin made his move. Dashing over to a set of lockers, he ran vertically up the wall and onto the ceiling. His objective wasnt to stay up there, but his suspicsions were confirmed. An invading student was crawling around on the ceiling.
"Oh great, a spider monkey." Kenshin thought.
The spy, or whatever it was, immeadiatley dropped from the ceiling and ran towards Kenshin.

Drawing his sword, Kenshin took his stance. As soon as the enemy student got close, he threw 3 shuriken at Kenshin. Blocking the first two with his sword and ducking under the third, Kenshin came up with a horizantal slash, but was met by a katana.

"Ah, its been awhile since ive had a good swordfight." Kenshin said to his opponent.
"This isnt going to be one youll soon forget!" the student snarled.
They circled each other. The invader made the first move, and vertical chop, and Kenshin parried. Kenshin kept circling, trying to get his opponents back to the stairs. As soon as his enemy was right where he wanted him, Kenshin charged dleivering 3 rapid attacks.

A horizantal slash, then spinning around and delivering a diagonal slice up from his opponents knee. Both of these his opponent parried, but the invader was completly unprepared when Kenshins sword connected with the side of his head. Eyes wide in horror as he watched his blood pool on the ground around them, he let out a deathly scream, and Kenshin kicked him down the stairs.

"Id better go rondeavous with the others." Kenshin said somberly.

It was only after several minutes of wandering around and not hitting anyone during that time, that Met realised this so called "invasion" -quite pathetic he mentally added- was over.

"At last....so boring hitting sandbags..." he muttered as he walked over some bodies towards the Kung Fu training hall where he expected some others might be. It was when he saw a hand twitching near a shirt pocket that he had actually stopped. Some Gato still alive? he thought as he crouched down and picked the small piece of paper that protruded out of the pocket.

Unfurling it, he noticed it was a small note, it even had a little symbol on it at the end. Well what do we have here he mused as he began to read the note.

The final task has been brought to you. Complete it successfully and then you will be allowed to participate. The co-ordinates have been provided at the bottom. Do not bother to turn up if you fail, you will not find yourselves welcome

The letter read, and the co-ordinates of some place had been provided beneath the symbol. Well isn't this interesting...I think I'll just keep this to myself and have a look what's happening he thought grinning like the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. He wasn't particularly interested in attending any classes, and this new piece of information seemed like he could have some fun.

Just ignoring everything else now, he made his way over to where he had left his bike. After a few jumps over bodies and pushing his way through groups, he eventually made it to his bike. He was somewhat thankful that nobody he really knew had encountered him, he felt like having some fun alone. It wasn't long after he had made his way over to Soul Bane's lab to pick up a GPS unit to stick on his bike before he was off heading towards the designated co-ordinates.

What he failed to notice in all of his so called excitement was the figure that followed him from afar on their own scooter. The scooter wasn't as fast as the bike, but luckily for them, Met wasn't traveling particularly fast.

Kakashi wiped some sweat from his burned brow and leaned up against the wall. The invasion was over. Most of the Gato rats had slinked away, except for the dead, and some that had stayed behind as spies, or something more sinister. Not that it mattered. Gato was a poor excuse for a school, and their attack had been pretty poor also. Besides breaking a window, they hadn't done much. A stealthy approach would have worked MUCH better, but instead they stuck their necks out and shot a fireball at a window. Hah, they had taken enough stealth to sneak on campus, but then they ruined it all by shooting a fireball. The more Kakashi thought about it, the more foolish it sounded. Kakashi couldn't wait for their counter-attack. Now THAT would be fun.

Kakashi slinked through the courtyard, and he saw Met riding off on a bike. Where could he be off to? Kakashi thought. He countined through the courtyard and entered a school. He saw many Sempai students rushing around, and he followed some to a class room. Some injuried were being treated there. He was glad he wasn't one of them. None of the Gato students had given him any mortal wounds, and for that he was happy. The worst of his wounds were given to him by one of his own men, Kenshin. Kakashi smirked, and he left the room. He couldn't do much help with anything medically. He saw a few bodies lying around, though most had been cleared out.

Shogun watched over the practice, everything was going normally. He'd appointed one of the senior members of the Kung Fu team to lead the class while he dealt with the prisoners. He'd originally thought about leading the class in an interrogation, deciding against it when he considered how badly that could end. Instead he'd handle the questioning alone. He stepped into the office where the prisoners were bound, then woke them up. Their eyes widened in horror as they realized who they were now in the presence of.

"Well fellas, here's the deal. Your invasion failed, miserably. Now normally I would have let you go with the rest of your school, but, well, you hurt a good friend of mine. A lady friend no less, and that's not the type of thing I can just let go. So I'm going to give you both a choice, you can tell me a little about why Gato attacked, or I can make you wish you'd been one of the people who they'd chosen to stay back, since I know Gato held back most of it's top fighters. Well, whaddaya say?" he spoke in a calm tone, staring them both in the eye, making it clear he wasn't going to play around with this.

The two of them looked at each other. They were torn between school loyalty, and the knowledge of just what Shogun could do to them. Finally the chance to save their own skin proved to be the favored path. "Gato high has always been happy with it's place in the tournament standings. But we've also had an important place in the underground fight scene where we've typically been the top dogs. A new tournament opened up recently that required us to attack Sempai to prove ourselves..." said one.

"There's also a lot of information we were supposed to gather concerning your school's top fighters, we were also supposed to try to maim several of you. We obviously failed, but what could be expected when we only knew what one of you looked like?" said the other.

This was troubling to Shogun, Gato had never been the type of school to try to take fighters out anywhere but the ring. Now suddenly they were sending kill squads... one thing was clear, there was new leadership at Gato High. He continued the questioning for several minutes, nothing else of any real note came up. Finally he decided to release them, although, not really that easily, they had hurt Lil after all. Shogun taped their mouths shut and dragged them out into the commons, adding several signs that identified them as Gato fighters. He'd let the rest of the school take care of them for a while. He had a class to lead...

After their battle, Dragn had told Confessor that there was something he had to do and that he was going on ahead. He bowed to her and turned to make his way down the hall. Dragn was deep in thought as he walked down the hall, there wasn’t too much damage to the school and the injured or bodies that had littered the hallways earlier had all been taken care of. Classes seemed to be going on as usual, but this period he had a spare. He wondered about the invasion and why it had even occurred in the first place – and by Gato no less.

He headed towards the magics wing and glanced quickly into all the classes as he passed, to his relief he was able to spot many of the students that he had sent to protect the library...but there was one in particular he could not locate, the new summoner Jeze. This did not sit well with Dragn, so he headed to the Kung Fu training room to see if anyone had seen her. Making a quick stop at the cafeteria to see if she was getting something to eat to refuel herself.

As he approached the training room he noticed a small group of Sempai students standing in a circle. He came up beside them, “What are you doing?” he asked wondering why they weren’t in class. One of them turned to face him “We’re just giving these Gato scum a nice goodbye parting.” Dragn who had not noticed, looked down to see some Gato students with their mouths taped up and hands tied. “Oh!….well then carry on.” Dragn smiled as he left them to their fun. He walked up to the kung fu classroom door but peered through the window, he did not want to disturb the lesson. He scanned the interior of the room. The students were practicing as they always were and Shogun was standing at the front and Lilith was in there as well. His eyes then fell upon a figure lying on a mat. He thought it was just a Kung Fu student but on closer inspection he noticed it was Jeze.

Dragn sat down beside the door, waiting for class dismissal, he wanted to know if Shogun had figured anything out about the invasion since he always seemed to be the most informed. He looked over at the Gato students sprawled on the floor and he could only guess that that was Shogun's doing. He pulled out a spell book and began to study. He had been amazed at his professor's show of skills against the dark mages and thought that he had better do a lot more studying.

Yawning a bit, Lillith looked around. She had dragged her captive's away from the main site and was trying to spot IR so she could let her sheep go to him. She gritted her teeth in pain. Blood was slick around the handle of her whip as the hole in her hand bleed freely. A few moments later, she spotted IR and grinned to him as he looked down to her Gato gentlemen. IR grabbed one and slung him over his back as Lillith coninued to drag the other one - the willowy one - with her whip. The load was much better and she was able to use just one hand and let the other one bleed down by her waist. They took the two over to the Kung Fu training room to let them stew.

As they walked back into the main room where kung fu class would be held, Jeze joined them. SIlently, IR handed her some tape for her hand so she wouldnt miss the class. Nodding her thanks to him, she walked a bit away, her back to the door so no one should see her. Lillith didnt want anyone to know that she would be injured during class. It made things complicated because she didnt want anything special just because of a stupid injury. Wrapping her bleeding hand up as best as she could do, she went over to the drinking fountain and washed off most of the blood. A small pink stain marked that blood had been there. Scowling at the stain, Lillith looked up and marched over to where IR and the sleeping Jeze was.

Afterr things had settled down, Lillith was surprised when IR appointed a senior classmen to lead in the training for today. Silently IR slipped out the door. To the prisoners? His expression gave it away really. Folding her arms over her chest, Lillith humphed and praced to the door. How come he had all the fun? sHe thought as she opened the door. Before the door swung open, the Senior classman that IR had appionted leader today slammed it shut in her face. " Miss Forbid, you missed too many classes last year to miss a class this year. Exspecially the first day of school" The classman hissed in her face.

Turning her gaze to him, she narrowed her eyes and put her hand on his shoulder. This man was named Jasper, if she remembered right. He was good, exspecially in leardership. Thats why IR appointed him. He was good in leading classes if the teacher was gone. He was handsome enough for a senior and all the teachers were on good terms with him. Loosening up her expression, she grinned and picked at his hair at the base of his neck. He wouldnt move. Ahh, so he knew her tricks. Fine then. Narrowing her eyes again, she smoothed her hand down his arm to his wrist. Stopping at his wrist, she clamped her finger nails down on the sensitive nerves and viens on the underside of his wrist. With a small grunt, he let go of the door and in one moment, she opened the door and slipped out.

With a snort of laughter, she stalked silently over to the door of the room they were in. Leaning against the wall gently, she closed her eyes and listened intently on what was going on. Of course, she missed a bit because of that baffoon Jasper in her way and all.

"-back most of it's top fighters. Well, whaddaya say? That was IR. He was calmly speaking to them. So calm that she could barely hear. There was a pause and then...

"Gato high has always been happy with it's place in the tournament standings. But we've also had an important place in the underground fight scene where we've typically been the top dogs. A new tournament opened up recently that required us to attack Sempai to prove ourselves.."

"There's also a lot of information we were supposed to gather concerning your school's top fighters, we were also supposed to try to maim several of you. We obviously failed, but what could be expected when we only knew what one of you looked like?"

Lillith grinned a bit and sighed. It went on a bit longer, and before IR came out, she stepped lightly away and down the hall. He came out draggin them. They were all tied up and marked as Gato fighters. Widening her eyes, Lillith giggled to herself as Ir dragged them out into the commons for everyone to have a go. In a panic, she looked to the gato fighters and then to IR who was heading back to class. She skipped over, aimed a fast kick to both of them and then hurried silently off after IR. She slipped in after him. Jasper aimed a glared over at her and she blew a kiss at him.

Having dealt with the threat against the school Confessor watched Dragn walk past her and out of the library. He told her he wanted to go and do a few things for himself. A light tipped smile flashed across her beautiful features. He was going to study some more. She could tell even he had been impressed at the magical skills she had shown him. She rubbed at her eyes fighting the sudden urge to go to sleep from her body. She shook her head several times and then wiped her eyes as she stifled a yawn. Using black magic always took a lot out of her. Considering black magic wasn’t something she used on a regular basis it drained quite a bit of her energy. The only way to refuel her lost black magical powers was to get an hour worth of rest. Whether it was sleep or simply relaxing, it didn’t matter as long as she was rested.

She looked upon the dead that were in the library. These bodies had to be removed. As she walked over to the check out desk she picked up the phone and dialed the main office. She spoke briefly describing a bit of detail about the battle and saying no damages had been done to the library with the exception of painting a new logo and a fresh coat of light blue paint had to be applied to the rear wall that helped support the building. Five minutes hadn’t passed when four teens ran into the room with several stretchers and body bags.

Confessor recognized all four of them. One of the oldest boys by the name of Richard studied with her in her advanced white magic class. He was a bright young kid with a lot of heart and a stout mind. She knew he would succeed in becoming a great healer. Tony a somewhat shorter boy than Richard grinned at her as he entered and flashed her a smile that she returned. Tony was a novice black mage and he had a lot of understanding about what magic, especially lightning spells. She knew he would make a fine black mage one day but unlike other students who learned spells after three casts, it took him at least six tries to get it right but once he figured it out he studied the process.

A young girl with sapphire eyes glanced up at her and nodded solemnly as she studied the scene around her. Sophie, a beginning white magic; looked at her teacher with weary eyes. Like most novices she was still learning the basics of the correct pronunciations of each incantation but she was getting the hang of it. The second girl who stood beside Sophie was named Bridgette, who unlike Sophie was a talkative teen. During class she was always asking questions about each spell and questioning how it was possible they were cast. Questions were always good but Confessor knew that if one questioned too much then they would forget the purpose of the spell. Bridgette was looking about excitedly at the chaos in the library but didn’t say a thing.

Each student stood at ease waiting for Confessor to tell him or her what she wanted done. Looking at her students she finally stated, "Boys, first things first remove the bodies. None of them are living so use the body bags."

Confessor looked at the two girls. "I’d like you to use your basic spells I taught you all a week ago about cleansing. Use that spell to get rid of all the blood on the carpet please and on the far wall near the back. There are also burns in the carpet that need to be fixed so please use that rebinding spell I taught you two days ago. Take your time and if you need help just ask Tony or Richard, they’ll help you out. When you are done you are free to leave the grounds because by then it’ll be time for dismissal."

    "Yes Professor."

Before she turned to leave today she looked at all four of her pupils. "You all did very good today and I’m proud of each of you."

Without another word being said Confessor left the library and headed back to her room. As she walked along the corridor she noticed several seniors helping each other carrying out the wounded or dead. There was a sullen silence about the school. It almost seemed a sudden sorrow had settled over the school. Yes, many of Sempai’s students are had been hurt but luckily none of them killed, at least none that Confessor knew had been killed. Each student had proven himself or herself worthy of their career path whether it be magic, fighting, ninjitsu, summoning, and others, they all proved their worth. She was very proud of all the students.

She had passed the cafeteria once again and headed down the hallway to her class. Stopping at the door she closed her eyes and checked to see if anyone had tried to sneak into her room during the fight. She sensed no auras so all was well. Opening her eyes she unlocked the door and dropped the magical shield to the room. As she entered the room she walked over to her desk and dropped into the chair. Her final class would start any moment. With it being an advanced black magic class many students were also summon majors. Leaning back into her chair she closed her eyes and let the silence surround her.

As she sat in her chair she wondered whether or not she should tell Dragn that she was a black mage by bloodline. She wondered at how he would react. She wasn’t born with this power though; it was given to her during a blood transfusion from her father’s great aunt Victoria. Victoria was a fully blooded black mage who had also learned the art of summoning powerful creatures. When Confessor was sixteen years old she was coming home from school one day when a drunk driver hit her with his car and nearly killed her. She ended up in the hospital for four months living off of oxygen machines and a feeding tube. She was unconscious for the first two weeks until she regained consciousness. She had been very lucky she hadn’t been paralyzed. However she did have numerous wounds that couldn’t being healed by the doctor’s hands plus she had lost too much blood and was barely alive. In an act of desperation and love her great aunt Victoria had given Confessor a lot of blood. A week passed after the transfer and to the doctor’s amazement Confessor was completely healed. They couldn’t believe it and called it a Miracle from God. Along with Victoria's blood she had gained the power of black magic and summoning skills. However, she was stronger than Dragn when it came to summoning powrful creatures but she hadn't told him yet. She wanted to keep it to herself.

The sound of a chair being moved back snapped Confessor back to reality. Cara, her top student in the class had just sat down. "Sorry Professor, I didn’t want to disturb you, you seemed lost in thought."

Confessor waved the matter away. "It’s nothing Cara, I was just thinking. Let me get the lesson on the board for you."

She rose from her seat and took an eraser and erased the first year’s lesson and took a piece of chalk into her hands. When she was done writing the board read: The Dragon Lord Bahamut

Cara’s eyes widened at the name. "Your serious? There is No way he exists!"

Confessor turned around and laughed. "You thought it was a mere video game? No child, he does exist but you need to be on the top of your game to summon him to your command. Plus you need to be pure of heart, mind, and body. I will tell you more once everyone else arrives."

Confessor sat atop her desk and waited for the rest of her class to arrive. There were only five missing. Twenty minutes went by and three of them showed up. When the final one didn’t show she called the front office. The secretary said that the boy had been wounded and was in the healing wing. Nodding to herself she turned back to her class and begun her lesson. Two hours went by and before she knew it the bell had rung dismissing the students from their final classes. She spoke with each student briefly before they all left, leaving her alone with her thoughts once more.

Kenshin walked around the school, trying to get a handle on things. By chance, he walked by the room where Shogun was interrogating the Gato prisoners. He heard something about and underground tournament that piqued his curiostity, and he decided he would ask IR about it later.

Not much to do, Kenshin decided to find a nice quiet place to train, by a large tree in one of the school's courtyards. He went through a few attack and defence mauneuvers, and then sat down and began to meditate.
"I guess Ill just wait for something interesting to happen."he thought.

The interrogation was over, but Shogun didn't bother to return to the lead of the class just yet. He entered the office and began searching through the files of the rosters of the various teams in the city. Finally he came to the one he'd been looking for, Gato. The leadership information on the school was what was troubling him. He'd known all three of the captains of their teams last year, he'd been pseudo regular sparring partners with the captain of their kung fu team, but all three of them had graduated, and their replacements all had numerous rumors about them.

Last year's kung fu captain for Gato had been Silverfist Slim, whom some called the Crusader of Gato High. He'd inspired respect from everyone he'd ever fought, especially Shogun. But he hadn't groomed anyone in particular to be his heir. Instead he'd tried to raise everyone on the team to a good level so they would be able to function well the next year. Unfortunately one student hadn't been happy with being on the same level as everyone else.

His name was Baird, and he was a nasty character to be sure. Baird had come up on the underground street fighting scene, and he'd been damn good at it too. He'd been good friends with Simon the Slayer until Simon's forced retirement following his loss to Lord Croanan last year in the first prelim tourney of the year. Baird had joined Gato's kung fu team to try to gain redemption, but was beaten in a match with Shogun before he'd gotten a shot at Luther, leaving a good deal of enmity between the two. Shogun had heard he'd stepped up his game quite a bit since then.

Next there was the magic captain, Arlo. Arlo had replaced the school's last magic captain Gardok, a mid level wizard, but an excellent leader. Arlo had all the same leadership ability, but much more ambition. He and Dragn9 had developed a mutual distaste after Arlo had been in a match with Jnanee last year. He'd gone too far and had nearly killed the young female mage. Dragn easily dispelled his attack, costing Jnanee the match by disqualification, but more importantly angering the Gato student since Dragn had so effortlessly stopped the match.

Finally there was the captain of their weapons team. This character was a total mystery. Their captain last year had been a decently skilled fighter, but he paled in comparison to Rosgwak. He was the only one of the three captains that hadn't graduated last year, instead he'd been murdered by his replacement in one of the bloodiest fights in the history of any school in the city. To make it more interesting, no one had ever seen the new captain's face, and so no one knew who it was behind that mask he wore that lead the team in practices and tournaments. One thing was for sure though, he was a dangerous and merciless fighter with otherworldly speed and aim with his blades, and he reveled in the suffering of others.

Shogun didn't like the look of this. Two of the current Gato team captains were known enemies of Sempai High, and the third was a bloody sadist. To make matters worse, the attitudes of captains tended to color the feelings of the entire team they lead. Everyone on the Sempai teams had some sort of rivalry with a Gato fighter or two, and to see those friendly contests into the bloody wars that would likely follow meant there was only one option. A firestorm tournament.

Firestorms were the most dangerous type of tournament in existence. So dangerous in fact that they required a member of a faculty to be the head of the team for their respective school. The matches of a firestorm could be any type, from generic to Hell in a Cage, and the opponents could be from any team. A freshman fencer like Kenshin could end up going against Arlo, or whatever teacher Gato brought in for their team leader. Kenshin was talented, but that possibility was almost enough to make him considering a surrender to Gato High.

No, no one would go for that. Everyone who would be on team Sempai would gladly go down fighting. If they lost the firestorm that's exactly what they'd do. Firestorms were do or die for schools on the tournament scene. If you won, you kept your honor, little more. But if you lost your school was barred from competition for an entire year. This was going to be their only option, they had to show the city that while Sempai High had few renowned warriors, those warriors were more than enough to handle any other school that came at them.

He was going to have to clear this tournament with the other captains, and get a teacher, likely Confessor, to support the team, but he had a feeling they wouldn't have any qualms about punishing Gato for this invasion. Shogun sighed, he'd had a good feeling about this year too...

As the bell rang for final classes to begin Shogun stepped out of the office to see the students out. Jeze was still asleep on the mats, Shogun sighed again, looked like her time in Sempai High was going to be a real baptism of fire. The class went by without incident, finally the first day of school ended. Shogun wasn't going to bother to leave for a while, instead he would stay and run through his forms, at least until Jeze was back up and ready to go home.

Eventually that point came, as Jeze awoke she noticed Shogun running through his forms. She didn't say a word, instead she watched his movements. His moves were swift, and she could almost feel the power he placed behind each swing. She became so absorbed in watching him that she jumped when he turned and faced her. "Well Jeze, I hope you've enjoyed your first day, I get the feeling this is the tip of the ice berg as far as what madness goes down at Sempai High this year," he said as he helped her to her feet.

Jeze smiled as he pulled her up, "Well, I certainly wouldn't want things to be lacking in excitement..."

They walked together through the commons and to the main door when Jeze noticed Shogun's lack of keys, or anything to indicate that he had a car. "If you want... I could give you a ride home... if it's not a problem..." she fumbled as she spoke, not sure why she asked, his attention was clearly elsewhere. She blushed slightly as he turned and faced her, but she was able to calm down when she saw that he was smiling.

"I'll tell you what, if that offer still stands tomorrow, I'll gladly ride along with you. But right now there's some other stuff I need to take care of," he said. Jeze nodded slightly and smiled before walking back out to her jeep, wondering just what Shogun needed to do. Shogun walked her to her jeep, then returned to the front of the school where Kenshin was sitting beneath a tree. Shogun spoke up, "Kenshin, you need a lift home? Or would you like to take a run with me?"

"Kenshin, need a lift home? Or would you like to take a run with me?"
The sound of IR's voice awoke Kenshin from his reverie. His "meditating" for today had actually been a nap, but he decided he'd keep that to himself.
"Sure, sounds nice, that would probably do me some good right now." Kenshin replied.

They began to jog around the city, at a light pace, but that gradually grew faster. After about 3 miles, Kenshin had to stop and ask what was on his mind.
"Shogun, i couldnt help but overhear the Gato students you were interrogating mention something about an underground tournament. Im very curious as to know if this is for sport,or if its a very serious matter. I was hoping youd give me some answers?"

Shoguns expression became grim as he told Kenshin the story of Baird, Arlo, and another shadowy character. He informed Kenshin of the firestorm, and how great the stakes and consequences were.

"But why would they do this??" Kenshin asked."Our school never did anything to hurt Gato high, right?"
IR said nothing, but Kenshin wouldnt let drop the matter.
"I just dont understand! None of this makes any sense to me at all!" Kenshin could feel the anger growing inside him, but he would have to surpress it for now, at least untill he got home.
    "Please tell me.."

Confessor rose from her seat and walked over to the sink in her room. She hadn’t washed the blood from her hands earlier. She took the soap and soaped her hands up she watched the water run down the drain. Today had indeed been one hell of a first day back at school for her. As she placed her hands underneath the warmth of the water she watched the blood go down the drain. It hadn’t been her blood but student’s blood. Blood was a vital thing to everyone and she knew this best from numerous experiences. She turned off the faucet and wiped her hands clean. She locked up her desk and placed a magical shield around it and then grabbed her sword and erased the board. Looking around to see if she missed anything she noticed an envelope on her desk addressed to her.

As she laid a finger on the envelope she felt magical powers being emitted from the paper. Only a master wizard could do this and she carefully took her fingers away. She didn’t want to get hurt by whatever spell it was so she closed her eyes and concentrated on figuring out what type of spell it was. It was a poison spell on the letter that was inside. She carefully chanted a high-level antidote spell on the letter and the envelope glowed white until it faded.

She carefully picked up the letter and opened it. Her eyes widened at what was written and she cursed out loud. It was clearly a threat from Gato’s top mage Arlo but what was curious was that he wanted to meet her. It could only be a trap. Deep down inside her heart she knew they needed information. It would only be stupid if she didn’t go. Besides he had threatened to kill Dragn and she didn’t want his death on her consciousness, besides she had already too many deaths on her behalf.

She needed to be prepared but she did want to warn Dragn but what if that was what Arlo had wanted? He could find him and kill Dragn. Shit. She was in a tight spot. Well there was only choice and that was to meet the mage and see what he wanted. She just hoped she wasn’t going to get killed but if he was stupid enough to challenge her then he had another thing coming. She set the note and envelope on fire until it burned into mere ashes. Next she cast a dispel spell on the ashes making them disappear into the abyss.

As she adjusted her sword she walked over to wizard’s cabinet and took out all of her most precious books and weapons. Once she had emptied the cabinet she made it vanish from reality. Looking at the books, weapons, and spell notes she cast a reducing spell on them. Picking them up she placed all of them into her backpack. Looking around she saw she got everything. She needed to go home and get ready. 11 p.m. would only arrive too soon.

Walking to the door she opened it, walked out, and placed an extra protection spell, defense and magical shield around the entire room and magical corridor. She knew she could cast an entire spell protecting the entire school but she was too weary. She carefully made her way off the school grounds and to her BMW Z8. Looking at it nobody had touched it but then again if they tried to then they were going to get quite a few volts sent through them from the defense spell she had placed on the car. If they managed to counter the spell then all hell would break loose. The car had been infused with her finger prints and aura alone. Nobody but her could drive it.

Smiling to herself she had a lot of work to be done. As she released the shields she hit the unlock button and got inside. After she started the engine only then did she take off her cloak and placed it into the seat beside her on top of her backpack. She took off her sword and placed into a special custom holding wrack she had built herself. She put the car into gear and headed from the school and back to her house leaving the thoughts of battle behind her.

Shogun sighed as Kenshin demanded answers. Shogun supposed he deserved them, after all, it was likely that he was going to end up on the firestorm team. Still, Shogun hated that the kid still saw things in such a black and white manner. It was very clear he'd never been heavy into the tournament scene, this was the type of stuff you quickly learned to live with when you'd been a tournament fighter for long enough. Pride was a very dangerous thing, and school honor, that was a whole other level. Freshmen... he thought as he began.

"Kenshin, I hate to be the one who has to break this to you, but when it comes to things on the level of firestorm tournaments, it's rarely an issue of how much the school has actually been hurt in the past. You've never been to Gato High, so I wouldn't expect you to know, but their instructors are much harder on students who lose than those at Sempai. I don't know about the masked man who leads the weapons team, but Baird and Arlo both have grudges to settle.

"I don't think Baird really gives a damn about Gato High, he's fighting for vengeance on a more personal level. When I beat him last year I prevented him from redeeming the honor of his friend. In the underground tournaments if you can't stick up for your buddy then you're pretty much worthless. Odds are Baird either isn't allowed, or won't allow himself to compete in those tournaments unless he can prove himself by making sure there isn't a glorious last year for me in the tournaments. Hell, the cost of this new one was that they had to take Sempai High out of the tournament scene. Compared to some that proof of honor is minuscule.

"I used to be pretty big in the underground tournaments myself. I was a young thug who thought he was the king of the world because I had some piss ant undefeated streak. That streak ended when I messed with the wrong guy. I thought I'd come into this school and rule the roost, Crusader set me strait and put me on the right path. In the underground personal 'honor' is everything. If you don't have that you're nothing, but ultimately the rules of honor are determined by the winners. More than a few dumb kids looking to earn some street cred have died because of the tournaments. There's no real chance of shutting them down, so Sempai High did the next best thing, try to pull all the other schools to bar their students from entering. It seemed to work, although apparently not as well as originally intended.

"As for Arlo, he's fighting for personal honor too. Mages take their craft very seriously. Last year Arlo nearly killed one of the best mages we've ever had at this school, and with a flick of the wrist Dragn stopped him. To a mage having a killing spell stopped that easily would be the same as if I were to spit on your master's name and break your sword. Add in the Gato method of treating failure, Arlo's life had to have been hell for that entire year. If he does care about Gato's honor, he cares about it less than he cares about killing Dragn.

"I don't know about this other joker, but he's killed before for sake of proving he's the best, and I doubt he'll have a problem with doing it again. This is the path a lot of fighters choose. To be hopelessly consumed with the desire to be the very best. I used to be the same way before Crusader saved me from myself. He gave me a beating, but he showed me that for most people, seeking only to be the best, not caring about anyone but yourself, it's a destructive path. Sure some people have walked it and done very well, but those people are one in a million. That's why Crusader tried to keep Sempai High fighters walking the path of the defender, seeking to defend those who can't fight for themselves. I've tried to follow in those footsteps as the only way I can think of for paying him back.

"Gato High itself isn't to blame here. When it comes to things like this it always comes down the the captains of the teams. The ones we have to deal with are the most dangerous I think we could have gotten. The invasion today wasn't the usual type, it was a message. Even without their leaders there the Gato students were attacking with everything they had, and more than a few were aiming to kill. Next year things will probably go back to normal with Gato, but this year the only choice is kill or be killed. I hate that it has to be this way, but that's out of my hands. For the better of Sempai High, we have to put everything on the line."

Kenshin listened to Shogun, shocked that there was really that much corruption possible within the schools. Shogun only hoped his words sunk in. Crusader beating him to a bloody pulp and giving him a similar talk had helped Shogun become the fighter he was today. Sure he hadn't totally abandoned the quest to be the best, but he didn't just fight for himself now. And because of that he'd become far better than he'd ever been in the past. Since then Shogun had done everything he could to be the same type of mentor figure to younger fighters.

"Anyway, come on, we've still got a few more miles to cover," Shogun said after giving Kenshin a moment. The younger fighter nodded and they were off.

Met had reached the co-ordinates given several hours later. Unfortunately it wasn't the location of some sort of fighting event he thought it would be. The location was a small outdoor-sy type restaurant where only two guys sat sipping on their drinks.

Met was not the subtle type of guy, so he just took out the note and dropped it onto the table whilst taking a seat.

"Hmm?" one of them looked at him lazily.

"Where do I go?" Met just answered in reply.

The second guy, one who looked like he had a permanent sneer looked at the paper and then at him.

"You don't look like Gato" he said to Met. Met just looked at him and repeated the question.

"You don't have any permission to go" the man said again this time facing him and tensing slightly. Met just cast his eyes skyward with an angry mumble and reached into his pocket taking out a small medal and tossing it onto the table.

"What the..." the man with a sneer began, but was cut off by the lazy one.

"Ohoho. Rookie of the Tournament emblem...quite old" he said smiing at Met this time.

"Got it many years ago" Met replied "...before representing anyone" he added after a moment.

"Ahhh! I heard about you a few years ago. Forced yourself into the tournament. Won quite a few fights you did. Got beaten down just before the Quarter Final's though. Guess you were'nt tough enough, but good enough for this" he said, fingering the medal as he inspected it.

"So where's it happening this year?" Met just asked again, not feeling too reminescent of the old tournament.

"Hmm? Oh yea...your school's not invited this year" the man replied still eyeing the medal.

"Not invited? Why?" Met asked, somewhat annoyed now.

"You guy's cause too much of a ruckus. We don't mind the rought stuff in the fights themselves, but you guys have too many enemies, we don't want the fights to spread into the crowds"

"What the hell kind of reason is that? Who's hosting this year? I'm gonna have a good talk with him"

"Ohhh? Can't tell you that now, but...." the lazy one said finally looking at him, "I will tell you that's it's a group of outsider's this time"

"Is it now? Well, then I'm just going to have to enter this one like I did last year...by myself. Got to go beat the location out of some guys it seems" Met just said picking up the medal and began to leave.

"Hahaha! I like you....but this year is much different to last year...this year it's going to be Hell on Earth. None of that baby stuff you kid's play at...there's real gangs out there...watch yourself" the lazy man called after him.

Met just walked away and back onto this bike, and rode off without an specific destination in mind. Wonder if the other's know... he wondered as an afterthought as he continued riding down the long road.

Shogun stood in the gym, delivering another massive kick to the heavy bag in front of him. He and Kenshin had separated a while ago. Shogun felt bad about breaking things to Kenshin the way he had, but it was better that the country student learned it all at once and got it out of his system. Shogun tried not to dwell on it, there was a lot to think about already. Tomorrow he had to talk to Confessor about leading them if the Sempai administration approved the Firestorm, he had to select who from the kung fu team would be entering into said tournament, and then there was the arrival of the old man that was coming soon. Shogun was so wrapped in his thoughts he didn't notice he was being watched.

In a dark room far away a powerfully built man sat in a massive throne like chair. On a massive monitor in front of him was the image of Shogun as he continued his training. The man swirled a glass of wine as he watched. Several numbers were flashing on the screen, giving read outs on Shogun's lung capacity, endurance, muscle durability, and numerous other factors about his physical ability. As each of them flashed across the screen a smaller man at his side analyzed the data, as well as telling the sitting man about Shogun personally.

"...typically the students of Sempai High unquestioningly follow his commands. The same was true of Crusader, and seems to be a trend for Sempai High. part of the way through last year he led the others into a portal where we couldn't follow them. Luckily they returned and many of them began training harder than ever. What's more, while in that portal they apparently became very interested in the chi force," said the small man.

"The chi force you say? Hm, seems they may be of more interest to us than I had originally believed. What has our research on the chi force revealed?" asked the siting man.

"Very much my lord. Due to your allowing us to use you as a test subject we have been able to uncover very much about the chi force and how it is harnessed. We haven't been able to discover everything just yet, but it seems Sempai's Dragn9 is also very interested in studying it's power. A student with his intellect could very easily help our work on it speed up greatly," replied the small man.

To this the larger man smiled, "Excellent. Have one of our agents inserted into Sempai high, have them get close to Dragn9 and help his research along, as well as keep an eye on him and the others. If they manage to win their firestorm then they will prove very valuable assets in the near future."

The smaller man nodded and left the room. Suddenly the larger man's cell hone rang. He answered, "What is it Red Death?"

The responding voice was marked with a graceful yet vicious tone. It was the voice of the Gato High weapons captain, "My lord, everything is going according to plan. Installing Arlo and Baird into commanding positions was extremely simple, soon we shall know Which school is truly worthy of recruitment into your lordship's services, the street fighting kings, or the lords of the up and up tournaments."

"Excellent Red Death. See to it that whichever side triumphs you manage to stay alive. I'd hate to see a warrior worthy to be my heir go to waste," said the larger man.

"I'll do my best master," replied Red Death. And with that the large man went back to watching the feed of Shogun, as well as several other Sempai warriors...

After the run, Kenshin needed some serious time to think. He walked out into the woods, the place where he had been most comfortable after moving. He pulled his extra clothes out of his backpack and changed. He then sat down on a particularly wide tree stump and began to meditate.

"This is unbelievable." he said out loud. "I dont understand why things have to be like this!"Its always rivalrys, contests! I cant stand it. Its the reason She isnt here..."At that thought, tears began to roll down his cheeks. He tried to control himself, but to no avail. He wept silently for a few minutes, then was able to collect himself. "I suppose theres nothing i can do about the past."

    ***************

Rivalry was why Aanya was dead. Rivalry was why Kenshin hardly had any friends. Rivalry had torn his world apart. 5 years ago, Kenshin was apart of his old dojo. His best friend, Aanya, was a student with him. There was a dojo on the other end of Kenshins hometown that kept trying to compete with Kenshins dojo. The rival dojo was good, but it was never as good as Kenshins.

Soon, the enemy dojo became extremly angry with the fact that they werent the best in town, so they decided to eliminate the problem. Late at night, the rival school snuck in and attacked Kenshins dojo. Kenshin and his other classmates valiantly tried to defend their dojo, but it was all in vain. The enemy school had then begun to burn down their rival. Their was a forced evacuation. Aanya got everyone out. But as soon as she began to leave. she was cut down.

Kenshin had watched the whole gruesome scene. He would never forget the look on Aanyas face. It was his motivation. And now, an extremly similar situation had come up.

Dragn had not even noticed the bell ring, signalling the end to the first day of classes. He had been absorbed in his studying that he had lost track of time. He got up and looked around the halls. Most of the students had already headed home as the halls were pretty much deserted except for a few students, grabbing things from their lockers on their way out.

Dragn was in no rush to head home yet, although his basement had been transformed to enable him to study, research and practice his magic, the school had much more rare items and ingredients, not to mention their supplies was almost unlimited. He wandered down to the magics wing and headed to his locker. The spell he had placed upon the lock was still intact, although he did not believe that any one from Sempai would try to break into his locker, it was to protect it from school invasions.

Upon opening it he placed the school assigned magic books on the shelf and withdrew two others. These two were the most important to Dragn. One was his personal spell book, containing all of his essentials. The other, although he had only recently came in possession of it , was also considered to be of utmost importance. This book was one compiled by a few mages he had met upon entering a portal over the summer. He placed both of the books carefully into the pockets of his coat. He then grabbed some other items and then closed the locker door. He chanted a few words placing a ward on his lock then headed towards the library.

On his way there a student stopped him. Dragn had never seen this student before but by the assigned magics book he saw him carrying he could only conclude that this one was a first year magic student. “Hey there, you’re the captain of the magics team aren’t you?” Dragn nodded his head. He had many things on his mind and had wanted to hurry to the library to look them up, “I was wondering if you could help me with some of my potions work.” Dragn frowned slightly, although he enjoyed helping fellow magic students he had more pressing matters to attend to. “Sorry but I haven’t the time at the moment.” Dragn replied “Perhaps at a later date.” It was the kid’s turn to frown, Dragn carried on “Besides, I bet the potions teacher has taught you the essentials – by taking that and working on your own it will enable you to gain a better understanding of it – for through hard work and dedication you will strive.”

With that Dragn left the student and turned the corner, he entered the library nodding to the librarian and went directly to the history section. He grabbed a couple of books that would help to cross reference information about the chi force even if they didn’t mention it. He had not noticed that the student had followed him. He took the books and sat at a large table spreading out the different books and pulling out his notes. The new student took a seat across from him. Dragn looked at him surprised. “There are other tables” Dragn stated as he waved his hand around the room. “Ah yes, well…then I wouldn’t be able to see what you are doing.” Frustration flashed across Dragn’s face for a brief moment. He then laughed. “Schools over shouldn’t you be heading home?” Dragn was looking for any reason to get rid of the kid, he hated to have his research interrupted. “Nope” was the students reply. “Well this is top level mage stuff and it would be of no interest to you, it’s actually quite boring.” The kid just sat there with an unimpressed look on his face. Dragn just shook his head, perhaps he should have gone home…

During the Kung Fu class, IR didnt come back. Lillith didnt care though. IR always dissapeared, so it didnt bother her much. At least she got to hear what the prisoners had to say. The next punch to the bag above her head rewarded her with a sharp pain from her bleeding hand. about 15 minutes ago blood started blossoming out of the bandage from her hand. The pain had now extended to her elbow and her muscles were getting the worst or it. Sooner or later, if the bell didnt ring, she would have to leave. No way in hell was she going to ask Jasper if she could leave, the pompous windpag. Rolling her eyes, she pretended to take a breather while she got some more tape to cover the blood.

Stretching over by the sleeping Jeze, she almost jumped with relief as the bell rang around them. Jumping up, she grabbed her bag and swept towards the door. Boom. There was Jasper, his pretty boy face infront of her. Before he even said a word, she had punched him in the face. Not had because her only free had was the bleeding one. That punch earned a gasp of pain from her and a growl of fury from him. Lillith bounded over him and squeezed through the door. " Stupid Prick" she mumbled to herself as she flew down the hallway. Her hand was dripping a small trail of blood, but she wasent worried about it. It wasnt like there was no blood shed here. This was Sempai High after all. Sighing a bit, she held her hand infron of her chest and made her way to the nurse's office. Thier nurse was good. she had healing powers as well as skills with stiches and stuff like that. She had to be good. As said before. Sempai High, people.

Lillith was almost to the nurse's office when she spotted Rosquak comming her way. Cursing under her breath, she pulled her arm behind her back and slipped on her MaDnESS!! jacket she got last year. Grinning vixenly to Ros, she winced a bit and stuck her hip out.

" Why, Hello, Prince Charming" She laughed and waved to him. He blushed a bit and came closer to her to talk to her. He really was incredibly good-looking, even when he was blushing at her. Although none other got to see this blush, for he was very Charismatic around people, exprescially other girls.

" Hello, Lillith" He said to her, in a slight rush. " I saw that you got your hand hurt in the battle, annd was wondering about it. I also have to thank you for helping me with that--" He was cut off by Lillith putting a finger to his lips. Immediatly his face turned a few shades darker and that train of thought was lost. Lillith grinned and shook her head.

" Whats done is done and I thankyou for caring. Yes, my hand was hurt, so that's where I'm going." She rremoved her finger and pointed over her shoulder at the nurse's office. She grinned "Afterwards, if she lets me, I intend to train some more, and then go home" She hinted at him.

Nodding, Ros watched her bound off and into the nurse's office.
