If the EE is 4h 50 min long as i heard it, they could put in the SOTS (excuse me for the abreviation) and that would be possible because Saruman hasn't died in the theatrical Edition of ROTK. If they make it, even a short version, it would ROCK !!!

Yes, it would be good to see the hobbits kicking butt and taking names. I think it wasn't included because the film wouldn't have flowed properly -- it may have felt anti-climactic to people who have no prior exposure to ROTK. But it would be interesting, no doubt.

I don't think the scouring of the shire will be in the EE, I dont' think they even filmed any of it. I also heard that the EE will be 4:10 not 4:50. I think I got that from a link somewhere in here.

No ii dont think it really sucks, i thought it was a cool part of the book, but there are much coller parts than the scouring of the shire, i thougth it was a smart move on PJ's part to leave it out, way too anti-climactic. Of course for the book it worked because books have a different flow than movies.

The Scouring of the Shire was never shot because Jackson thought that it took much attention away from the ring.
Also for christmas I got the Lord of the Ring Trivial Pursuit. There was a quesiton I saw that said "How does Grima die in the movie"... Major Spoilers, don't read on if you hate spoilers.

I'm guessing that Jackson got rid of this part in the movie at the very last second because it shocked me that this question was in. Anyway the answer was Legolas. So come to whatever conclusions you want.

Gondorian Ranger said Sucks, I know not referring that the part of the book sucked but that it sucked because it wasn't in the film.

They said early one that they were not doing it, so i doubt it will be in the EE version. But i hope the House of Healing will be in it

yes i know it was an awesome part of the book but what i was saying is that it doesnt suck that it was cut out, there are perfectly good reasons to cut it out.

I wish that they would put the scouring of the Shire in the EE, that would be awesome.

Maybe PJ will listen to us and film the SOTS as a last minute addition to the RotK EE, even if it only ends up on the Special Features disc, cuz he's got a base to work with when he filmed the Mirror of Galadriel sequence.

But a Battle of Bywater couldn't happen, cuz u'd think Odo Proudfoot would do more than just scowl at the returning hobbits. The SOTS would have to take place somewhere else in the Shire in the movie. Off east by Buckland maybe.

Doubtful on the SOTS... PJ comented that he never really like that part in the book, so it probably won't be filmed. I say probably because i don't know.. they always go back to NZ to do extra shots and stuff, so who knows.. There's so much i'd like to see in the EE, particularly the Dunedain. I wonder if they are shown.. how they'll be shown.. will they look like the ithillien rangers, or more like traditional Numenor warriors.. or what. I also want to see the House of Healing, becuase i think that'd be interesting as well.. how Eowyn and Faramir meet.. etc. Anyways.. back on topic.. The scouraging of the shire would be an awesome thing to add if they were considering it. It would also be kinda like retribution to Christopher Lee for having him cut from the theatrical version.. i was SOO mad about that...

Heh, u know, its really funny and ironic that they had the nerve to list Brad Dourif and Christopher Lee into the cast in not only the movie credits, but on the posters for it too =P
