I just finally completed my collection of Savage Swords about a month ago.....took me many years but I now have every single issue...including the Savage Tales magazine that featured Conan. Savage Sword is probably my favourite of all things to read.

Savage sword was some amazing stuff. I love Robert E. Howard`s original serials and the idea of fully illustrated versions is something I couldn't pass up. I only have volume one, but yeah, amazing.

I never read the comics, but I did read a couple of the paperback novels from the 70s and early 80s. I appreciate them. It's really one of the core series along with LOTR and Narnia that helped give modern fantasy its start, but I find them a little shallow and cliche now. Nothing against the books really - the genre has just moved on and gotten more sophisticated.

I love the adaptations of the original stories. Conan is one of the best characters around.

As much as I love Conan...maybe my favourite fictional character....I never got into the novels....the black and white Savage Sword magazines were always the best reading....especially when the art was done by Ernie Chan or John Buscema.....awesome stuff...
