The Red Wedding was the saddest part of the books for me.

Red Wedding, Theon's betrayal of Winterfell (resulting in the death of Ser Rodrik, I kinda liked that guy), Lady's death, Arys Oakheart (a really cool guy) getting chopped by Areo Hotah (who is also cool)...

*cough* I'm sorry, but I despised Arys Oakheart. >.> I almost laughed when he died. It was just so... stupid of him. An unnecessary death, to say the least.

The nightfort where bran and sam crosses the wall had been abandoned 200 years ago i think because the night watch was lousing men which was when the kingdom was under tararyen rule. Also sending an assassin to kill dany i don't hate him for even though i don't think she deserved to die and i like her alot at time because she wanted him dead aswell although that wasn't roberts reasons. Ok i actually do hate him a bit for that but i forgive him for admiting his mistakes and telling ned to stop the assassination. I hate him more for being a bastard who raised a despicable son (well not really his son but he thought he was his) named joffery, was a sex junkie who probably would have ended up cheating on ned's sister if they got married even though he loved her, even something like love can't change a man's nature. But it was still very sad, and no one deserved to die.

Hmm...a lot of people have died who didn't deserve it in ASOIAF...Robert isn't exactly alone there and his death certainly isn't the one that bothers me the most. The actual scene where he does die is quite emotive but I think that's because of the way he could have been, and the way Ned remembers him rather than any really sadness for Robert himself.

It's true that he gives Dany a reprieve but that's on his deathbed and prior to that he was so determined to see her dead that he was willing to fire Ned as Hand. Yes, it's good that he changed his mind but it still took him a long time to do that.

As for Joffrey...yep. Although Cersei does deserve most of the blame there.
