Staring up at the figure for a moment in surprise, Toell could do nothing but look up like a startled deer. Focusing again on the green clad one with the long pointy he stareted to laugh.

It was not long before he was rolling around on the floor, kicking and laughing hysterically while the newcomer looked at him with puzzlement. After a little more giggling, Toell stopped laughing and coughed for a bit before stading upright and looking into the strangers eyes. Poking him on the arm just to make sure he was real and that Toell hadnt gone crazy yet today, he found to his surprise that it was real, and it was tensing at the contact as if it were an attack.

Quickly stepping back once and bringing his thoughts together Toell tried to rememebr how to introduce ones self.

"I am me, Toell, Son of......my father, I come from" Looking back to the mountains he pointed a finger. "That way, but on the other side"

There was another question wasnt there? what was it? "What are you doing here?" the stranger said, Toell must have been thinking aloud again, he couldnt remember the last time he had thought in his head, his memory was going so it could have been earlier on in the conversation, but either way Toell couldnt remember.

"I am here becus this is where I am!!! this is my world, I should ask why you are here without asking me!!! I come to findout where thing are and what they are, And i have found you, so you are mine, with all your shineys and your pointy-sharp things."

Toell began laughing outrageously again, what a funny joke he had made. TRhe last perosn he had met had demanded all of Toells shineys after he had followed Toell to toell's safeplace. that stanger had felt pointy in his belly, Toell still laughed at it sometimes, Toell may have been protective about his shiny things, but half of them were pointy's share and pointy got mad even if Toell touched them.

Coughing again and standing straight to face the newcomer he checked him once more, that was strange, the person has pointy ears, Teoll was sure that people didnt have those, although he hadnt seen anybody since the last stanger, and that was a good long time ago. It wasa pity Toell hadnt seen his ears in watershapes since his hair grew over them.

"You are funny strangeperson, what are YOU doing here? I'm not really here for much, jsut for things i dont know about, and i dont know about you so you are here for me to see, see?"

"Tolo sí Alenda, Kymen," Elenllach said aloud, and his two companions emerged from their campsite. The man - Toell - he was called, was laughing hysterically on the ground. Alenda looked at him oddly, "Pedich i lam edhellen?"

"No, Alenda, he does not. He speaks only the common tongue, Westron it is named," replied Elenllach, answering the question for Toell. "Scout ahead, take Kymen with you. I will talk to our friend here."

Sheathing his sword - this man was obviously no threat - though he did look like a rabid dog, he sat down beside Toell. "What am I doing here ? I am travelling, travelling to an evil place named Moria. It needs to be cleansed for my people's safety, and I have been chosen to do it."

"Ah, heheh, this place is not known to me. Is there shiny things there ? Pointy likes his shiny things." replied the man absently, fingering his ornatly designed knife.

"Pointy ? Is someone else with you ?" said Elenllach, confused. He looked down at Toell and saw him burst into laughter again, rolling on the floor holding his stomach. Elenllach rolled his eyes and looked around, trying to spot another man in the bushes. Clearly there was noone there, the land was flat around here, and the bushes were sparse, hardly enough room for someone to hide. Likely the man was more than half-crazy, the way he rolled around laughing, tears now streaming down his cheeks made it rather obvious. Abruptly he stopped, and looked around, "We must leave, come, come with me. There are nasty things on their way."

"Nasty things ?" Elenllach asked as he looked around and smelt the air. He would recognize that pungent stench anywhere - Orcs were in the area. He made a silent prayer to Varda that Kymen and Alenda had managed to escape unharmed.

Reguard suddenly became very uncomfortable, the elf looking creature and dwarf were giving him strange looks, "Stop staring at me, please say something!" he screamed as loud as he could. Somehow he felt as though there were others around, but he didn't want to look away in case these two were trying to get the jump on him.

Suddenly there was a rapping, a rapping at the chamber door which Rincauthiel and Aiwendel were behind, preparing for the journey. It squeaked as it opened, and in stepped a dwarf, obviously tired from a long journey. He said nothing, as he took a few steps. Then he collapsed on the floor, a large wound was now visable on his back.

Molin had a hard time making up his mind what to do with this... creature. And the joining of Human only added to that. Ah, what a difficult situation... Should he kill the green skin, and would he turn out to be under the protection of Bain... alas, his beard would be the object of desire for every bounty hunter. On the other hand, lowering his axe and trusting the creature could cost his life... And there was no asking the King, since he was banned from the city and the eyes of the King in particular. Whithout letting his eyes off the green-skinned stranger, he decided to deal with the human first.

"And wha is y'r business here, Human? You don't look like you are from around here, do you... Ah never mind." Suddenly, Molin got a bright idea...

"Listen, laddy. Take y'r young legs and y'r sword out and be so nice to escort this creature to King Bain. Ask him what to do with it. Oh, and tell him I have send him. Tha's the only way, otherwise we could both be killed, y'know... Never trust a green-skinned"

Reguard scratched his head a moment, this was surely a trick. He shrugged figuring if he didn't do it and this creature was wanted by the king not turning him in could be bad. Reguard drew his sword but then thought that if this creature was a servant of the king and the dwarf was an outlaw then causing the dwarf to escape would also be a bad idea. Now his head hurt, either way something bad could happen to him. He sheathed his sword and drew one of his spears. The nomad figured having a mount and spear made him the closest thing to a cavalier here so he had an advantage, "Now, I'm taking you both in, since this king of yours will know who's in and not in his service he'll release the one who is and punish the one who isn't." Reguard figured he was correct in his assumption then a new thought, what if they were both in service to the king and they were training and the dwarf was so desparate to win the duel that he would have an ally turned in? Then possibly causing a break in the guard he could get in trouble still. His head hurt more now so sighing he put the spear away, "You'll not trick me that easy, surely the kings soldiers could dispatch someone who wasn't so I'll see who dies and take them to the king." Most would consider this simply stupid, but Reguard thought it was terribly clever.

"This way strangeperson, stay low and dont be loud, the nasty things will smell you and hear you and see you and eat you, we must find the wall trees I saw, they wil be safe"

crawling low on his hands and feet, Toell lead the strangeperson through the brush away from where the goblings were coming from, to the wall trees he had passed earlier. A little way on he found them, a small ridhe, not three or four spans high but a little cliff in its own, and at the top and bottom were sparse trees aswell as a few growing from the odd outcrops. Toell had remembered it just in case there were goblings or other filthy things here, it looked nice and safe.

"Come, follow me, we must climb, you are tall so it will not be hard." Leaping into the branches of one of the trees at the base, Toell scrambled hand over hand up the thick trunk of the tree. When he reached a high branch he lept once more to the base of another tree that spouted from the rock outcrop. Climbing steadily again he nestled himself firmly int he leaves high up in the safe place. Very quickly the strangeperson had joined him.

"You see, we are up high were they cannot see, and we are not near where their pointy-flying sticks can hit us if this tree is here, but if they smell us or hear us we may be in trouble, then pointy will have to help us, pointy is very good at dealing with goblings, he hates goblings more than anything else, I hate goblings almost as much as he does, bu i also hate trolls, and wolves, but goblings are worse. TRhey will be here soon, you must not keep talking so much or they will hear us!. shhhhhh!"

shortly after Toell had made sure strangeperson was quiet, the goblings rushed into the space below. very many of them for open day as this was, at least twenty. The dirty thigns were looking around oddly, one of the big ones, a pale thing with a twisted axe sat down on a rock.

"What in the name of the great eye are you doing sitting around wretch, didnt you hear Grutz shouting? we've got to find the intruders, he doesnt want a soul getting out of this land alive incase they bring help, he damn near killed fifteen maggots when that one dwarf got loose" A larger orc yelled atr the seated one.

"Stop fretting, were out here looking for some wretch who doesnt have a clue, Grutz only sent us here cause he has a beard and might be a dwarf, but the golbins who made it through the west gate says they know him, hes some wild hunter from the mountains, says theyve been trying to kill him for the last fifty years, if he's beeen there for fifty years what chance is there he is off to fetch more wildmen? might as well stay here in the shade untill nightfall and go back.

The bigger one standing raged at the other one for a little while. "Whether or not we're here to find a wild man, we have to scout aswell incase anyone comes IN this way, The doors may be further south but grutz says if anything comes, its coming this way, and you maggots have to keep an eye out! so get off your festering behind before I cut you off it!"

Toell smiled, goblings wer always bickering, maybe they would move on, maybe they would eat eachother, he hoped they would do one or the other before they smelt him, but pointy was itching to stick the, and strangeperson had a long poitything with him, so maybe they would be easy to kill.

Molin laughed. "Well, that's it then. First I will kill the Green Skin, directly folllowed by you, you foolish traveler. The King has taken my service but refuses my sight. That spear of yours is not more then a twig to my axe, don't count on it for saving your limbs. Be wise, and take this foul creature to the King. Be stupid... and die. The choice is yours, while the Green Skin lives."

That said, Molin charched towards the Creature, ready to strike with his axe...

Reguard thought this over for a moment, If nothing else he's persistant in his insistance that he's working for the king. Reguard thought for a moment and then nodded and charged the orc like creature as well, If nothing else this dwarf had had the courtesy to try and carry on some conversation, if not the least compelling. Plus, if he tries to kill me, it'll take a bit more then brawn to do so, how much more I'm not sure. Reguard just wondered how this goblinoid would react now.

Aiwe was in the middle of a speech on the virtues of having multiple copies of books, when there was an insistent knock at the door. Exchanging a glance with Aiwendel, Rin shrugged her shoulders and said glibly "Maybe Bain has given us a servant to wait on us." The joke fell rather flat however, and Rin pulled her short knife out, since they had not been expecting anyone, and cautiously opened the door. A dwarf, who appeared exhausted stumbled into their room. "How odd it is," Rin remarked acidly "that a dwarf should show up on our doorstep for no good rea-" she was cut off by the mysterious dwarf falling over in dead faint, a wound in his back.

"Oh wonderful, he is bleeding on the nice rug we bought. At least we will have the money for a new one after this task is finished for Bain" Rin said, rolling her eyes.

Ever practical, Aiwe brought out bandages she had packed for the journey and began to heal him as best she could. "Rin, must you always be so cold? He needs our help and you just stand there making sarcastic comments!"

Muttering something about overdramatization, Rin crossed her arms and watched the proceedings. "Should we take him to someone, or can you heal him fully?"

In the middle of a fascinating book conversation, Aiwe's thoughts were broken off by a knock on the door. She had just completed telling her friend about why it was important to keep multiple copies of the same book. They could get damaged by fire, flood, mice or insects. Thinking about the insects, she was about to begin a lecture on how to control the silverfish population in a library. But the visitor outside couldn't be ignored. Perhaps it was one of Bain's representatives giving them money or supplies.

Rincauthiel made a droll remark about there being a servant at the door for them. Laughing slightly, Aiwe couldn't imagine a servant ever being provided for unimportant guests like themselves. She thought for a moment that Rin might miss the life they had once lead in Rivendell. Both came from fairly well off households with servants. During childhood, Aiwendel never had to lift a finger for anything other than her own personal studies. This past year had been eye opening for both of them. They needed to find and cook their own food, wash their own clothes and generally provide for themselves. It would have been nice if Bain had provided a servant to clean their room at the least. After all Aiwendel was very busy taking care of his library. Her companion never did any more than was necessary for survival. Dusting unfortunately was not necessary in Rin's opinion.

To her horror, when Rin opened the door a dwarf collapsed into their room. Aiwe had thought Rin's precaution unnecessary when she pulled out a knife, but these were more troubled times then they thought. Aiwendel's sense of duty immediately made her run to her bag for bandages and herbs. Rin however stood there and made caustic remarks. Losing her temper, Aiwe snapped, "Rin, must you always be so cold? He needs our help and you just stand there making sarcastic comments!"

The comment brought Rincauthiel back to a somewhat more amenable state and she replied, Should we take him to someone, or can you heal him fully?"

"No, I can heal him." Aiwe answered. Taking her belt knife, she tore the rest of his shirt off, giving her better access to the wound. Prodding gently at the site, she found there was nothing stuck inside it and the slash wasn't too deep. She stood up, got a towel and water from their wash basin and sat back down next to the fallen dwarf. "It's superficial. He most likely fainted from blood loss or the pain. It looks fairly painful, but not life threatening if I treat it." Carefully Aiwe cleaned the dwarf's wound. It was a fairly long gash caused by either a shortsword or a dagger. From the location in his back, most likely a dagger. When she had the fresh and dried blood cleaned away, Aiwe opened a jar of herbal ointment, then liberally applied it to his wound. She placed a cloth ontop of the gash to keep it clean, but then came the more difficult part binding it.

She called out to Rin who had been watching the whole treatment, wide eyed. "You're going to have to help lift him a bit so I can secure the bandage. He's short but probably heavier than either of us. Just lift him up slightly, so I can make this bandage go all the way around his shoulder." Rin sighed in resignation but did as she was asked. Within a couple of moments, he was treated as well as Aiwe knew.

Barely resisting the apparent urge to kick the dwarf back to consciousness, Rincauthiel asked, "Now what? He's a little large to keep walking over if we wish to get in and out of our room."

With patience, Aiwe answered, "I don't know, really. I suppose he should wake up soon and tell us how this happened. Until then lets keep our dagger's ready, in case he's hostile."

Pondering still, Toell could see the goblings werent going anywhere soon, the two were still discussing whether to stay or go, but obviously the leader doubted his orders just as much as the others, if this was to end, they would be staying here in the shade.

Toell glaces to strangeperson, who was intent on the goblings, with a grimace on his face, obviously he didnt like them very much, pointy would like that, pointy may resist trying to stick strangerperson for now, which was good for Toell. It always made things difficult when pointy stuck people without Toells permission, they always blamed Toell.

"Strangeperson" Toell said quietly. "These goblings arent moving, we will have to make them die, do not worry pointy will help, and you have sharp things too, so you will work well." Toell looked back to the goblings, they were milling around still. "There are not too many, you will take those ten those" Toell pointed. "And me and pointy, we will take the other these" Pointing again Toell nodded to strangeperson who nodded grudgingly in return. "if we go fast they will not use their pointy-flying sticks on us" Toell pointed again to the goblings carrying the curved wood with string and the bag of pointy-flying sticks, they were dangerous, but aslong as you vrept close, the had to drop them and take out whatever sharp things they had, and then pointy always won. It did not always work so well though, toell had often slipped creeping close and had been stuck by pointy-flying sticks, his knee stick ached sometimes.

Toell was becoming a little tired, he had learned much of weapons and how goblings fought in his years, teaching strangeperson it all would take longer, hopefully he would get the hang of it, but they would just have to see. "you understand how? yes, good we must do it now, before darknight comes, now they are weaker."

Leaving strangeperson to do his won thing, Toell climbed further up the tree, the higher he got the weaker the branches were, already the leaves were rustling and the limbs of the tree swaying. Hefting pointy ready to fight, Toell grabbed hold to the most sturdy looking tree branch that lead all the way to the top, and with a curse, he jumped out into the air.

As he flew from the tree the branch whipped him back and down, towards the ground, its length stretching and bending under his weight, and like a bungee cord he fell to the ground at a plummet before the tree limb reached its limit and he was stuck dangling ten feet above the ground. The commotion had not gone unnoticed, the group of goblings looked up in mild shock at the dirty old man danglind just out of biting reach.

"Stick a spear in 'im!!!" shouted the leader, and the goblings burst into angry roars.

it was then that there was a loud snap as the branch seperating Toell and the ground broke, and th eold man hit the gound with a loud harumph. Quickly Toell rose, and witht he tree brach still in his hans he whiped the length of wood round like a ten foot switch and swatted one gobling. Dropping it he help pointy firmly in his right hand, the blade twinkling in the light almost unnaturally. The goblings closest froze in fear of the shiny blade, the first was stunned untill pointy was in his skull, the others began to move then.

Toell was too busy to check on strangeperson, Toell had lots of goblings to kill, and he had too keep pointy from getting too excited, if hew got too excited them both Toell and strangeperson would be in trouble. fighting was always like balancing on a cliff edge, only this time theere was no water below to slow him.

Maelor looks a the two characters charging him, and says something rather obscene, and unelflike. Although his sword was supposedly unbreakable, he didn't want to test it against the dwarfs mighty axe, and so he did something rather more elf-like and agile, that is rolling backwards and vaulting up a tree. He lands astride it awkwardly, letting out a low moan. "This isn't my day..."

He looks at the human, thinking he could perhaps take him down before the dwarf finished him- but he'd rather walk away alive, really... "I mean you no harm...I'm looking for mercenary work..." They seem to ignore him, and so, to save himself from that axe, he rolls his head back, then spits in the dwarf's eyes (Assuming he's not wearing a helmet...if yes, assume my elf-like accuracy carries to spitting :D)

Elenllach's eyes widened in shock as the strange woodlander leaped out of the tree and was snagged on a branch. Dangling above the group of Orcs, he twisted like crazy, trying to get free.

"Stick a spear in 'im" yelled an Orc chieften, and with that, Toell's branch snapped and he plummeted face-first into the ground. As an Orc's blade left the scabbard and aimed a strike at Toell, Elenllach let loose and an arrow plummeted into his eye, spraying black blood all over the ground. Before he had fallen another two Orc's had died. Elenllach unsheated his sword, the blade glinting sharply. Looking for Toell, he leaped gracefully and hit the ground rolling, lessening the impact and confusing his enemies. As he gained his feet in one smooth motion, he brung up his blade and sliced an Orc from the groin up to his left shoulder. The Orc was literally split in twain and his corpse fell to the ground. The Elves had no mercy for his kind.

Blood covered Elenllach, the black blood of the Orc burning his fair face. He wiped it with the back of his vambraces and looked around for the old man. Likely he could not defend himself, and would require aid. Blocking an incoming sword strike, Elenllach spun round and broke the Orc's jaw with a mighty roundhouse kick. He fell to the ground and Elenllach plunged his blade into the Orc's black heart. Seeing Toell he ran in his direction, but to his amazement found a pile of corpses littering the floor in a circle around the old man.

The man was crouched on one knee, his back to Elenllach. "Surely you did not do this alone ?" asked Elenllach in astonishment. As he spoke, Toell turned around and looked Ellenlach in the eye. "Pointy does not look the goblings. I told you they would die."

The gleam in his eyes unnerved the Elf, and he took a step back, careful not to resheate his sword. The old man seemed to guess Elenllach's mood, and the bloodlust quickly left his eyes. "Come, friend, we are free. And you fought better than I expected."

Reguard narrowly avoided crashing into the dwarf on his mule and looked at the elf like thing, and then to the dwarf. He scratched his head and put his spear away. "I've never known a, whatever it is that you are to lie to me, but seeing as the dwarf won't want to speak peacfully with that in his eye we should probably incapasitate him." Reguard said in a cynical tone as he saw the dwarf wiping the spit from his eye.

The last gobling went down feeling pointy in his belly, strangeperson would deal with the others, Toell turned to check and saw him finishing off the last. Turning back to the dead gobling, Toell found Pointy stabbing it very harshly in the belly again and again, he was too excited and there were not enough Goblings for him. There were never enough goblings for pointy, that was why pointy convinced Toell to go into the tunnels that day, the day the troll clubbed him.

Strangeperson walked loudly up behind him "Surely you did not do this alone ?" Toell stopped Pointy stabbing, pointy did most of the work, but Toell helped a lot, they were a good team, Toell was never alone with pointy. toell hated being alone, all those years, cold and lonely. pointy was here now, and he would never be alone.

Toell got up and turned to look at Strangeperson again."Pointy does not like the goblings. I told you they would die." Pointy was still hungry for Gobling blood, thick and black like mud. and Strangeperson obviously could tell, he stepped back in fear.

"Come, friend, we are free. And you fought better than I expected."

With that Toell put Pointy back on the rope and looked around. "You had friends, strangeperson, we should find them, there may be more goblings in these places. Pointy is hungry but do not worry, he likes you, you kill goblings well so he will not stick you." Toell was almost sure of that, pointy did like strangeperson, but pointy could get overexcited sometimes.

"You had friends, strangeperson, we should find them, there may be more goblings in these places," as the words left Toell's mouth Elenllach was instantly aware he had forgotten Alenda and Kymen. Mouthing there name's silently in prayer, Elenllach picked up his spend arrows, and placed them back in his quiver. Keeping his sword unsheathed he headed off in the direction the Orcs came from, Toell following close behind. Looking over his shoulder, he realized this man did not even know his name, and it would not do to have him calling him "strangeperson" all the time.

"Toell, my name is Elenllach, and I am honoured to travel with such a brave fighter. I do not ask you to come to Moria with me, but I ask your aid in finding my friends, Alenda and Kymen." The man nodded as he ran, "Elenllach, you say. Yes, yes. I will help you find your friends, since you helped Pointy and I."

Elenllach nodded, as they both ran on. From here it would be three days journey to Moria. Likely the Orcs had come from there in the first place. He hoped he would encounter his companions on the way there.

    * * *

After a day of travelling, the two companions came across three Orc sentrys which Toell easily dispatched without alerting the Orc camp. He dragged the corpses away while Elenllach silently entered the camp. There were fewer Orcs here, 10 at most. They were probably just the rear-guard of the main scouting party. Elenllach climbed a tree and viewed the haphazard camp. He found one of his companions. By the look of him, it was Kymen. He was face down in the dirt, his one fine garments ripped, torn and covered in filth. Three arrows stuck up from his back. He was dead.

Elenllach lowered his head in prayer. He hoped his soul found its way to the Halls Of Mandos. He could not find the corpse of Alenda, nor any trace of him. It was likely he wasn't dead yet. The Orcs usually made sport of their kills. Climbing back down the tree, Elenllach found Toell and told him the situation. Suddenly they heard a cry go up from behind them, and a great Orc reared up, growling in a horrible tongue. He unsheathed his sword and swung at Toell. Toell blocked the great blade with his knife as Elenllach ran him threw with his own blade. It was too late however, the camp was awake with activity. They knew they had intruders.

Dain awoke in a chamber, quite fair and well lit. All he saw was blurry, but there were two people standing over him. As his vision cleared, he saw two women standing over him. He mumbled,"what... what...am...I-here-what? how did I get here?" He felt a searing pain on his back, as he tried to move, but when he finially was sitting up, the women pulled out daggers and came over to him.
"Who are you, what are you doing here?" asked one.
Dain mumbled something, before speaking in an understandable tone.
"My name is Dain Stonewright... I came from Moria, before they came... the released something.... it was horrible.... few of us escaped- I was cut on the back as I fled, and I have travelled many miles with this wound. I am seeking the king under the mountain, I made it this far, but even though I knew I was close, I had to stop. I saw this place, and I dropped."

Maelor looks to the human with slightly less loathing "Makes sense...dwarf, I mean you no harm, but I do not wish to be sliced in two by that mighty weapon of yours..." Taking a set of bolas out of his bag, he tosses them along the ground, binding the feet of the struggling dwarf. A few more ensure that he cannot break free easily. "Now...let us talk reasonably..."

"Come stra.......ellenel..ellack, we must run at them, goblings expect fear from us not them" Toell pointed at the oncoming goblings, not many but good fun for pointy.

Raising point yup into the air, Toell gave a roar of anger and ran at the goblings, often using his free hand on the ground with his feet. As he ran one or two or the goblings slowed in hesitation, goblings always expected to be chasing, but pointy hever ran, he alwasy went straight into their bellies.

As he got close, Toell jumped up and climbed a near tree, with year experience he was up in the branched before the goblings got to him, some were taken aback and did not remember strangeperson........ellenllack, who sliced a few of them up nicely, pointy was impressed. With a swish of his blade, Toell sliced through one thick branch of the tree, its heavy bole crashing down onto one gobling and trapping the legs of another. Jumping down, Toell and pointy slashed at the goblings, fighting together as they had done for a very long time. Gobling fter gobling fell, once clipped Toell on the leg with his crude weapon, merely seconds before he felt pointy in his neck.

With a cry Toell and pointy kept killing the goblings around them and ellenlack did the same untill none were left.
