Belzar walked along the beaten forest track, lost deep in his thoughts and memories. As the sounds of life continued on around him, he could think of nothing but death. He could remember it as though it were only yesterday. One hundred years ago, and it was still burnt fresh into his mind. The Massacre at Thelestia, the place of Angels,.... supposed to be a great day for demon kind... for his kind... supposed to end the war the demons had been fighting, allow them to move on. Yet no-one knew what triggered the end. All that was known was that a month or two after the war at Thelestia, after returning to their homeland of Desah, civil war broke out. Demon against demon, brother against sister, husband against wife, all spiralling out of control, and getting worst by the day. Then, "He" had come. Clad fully in armour, hiding his appearance as well as his identity, the new warrior had rallied an army and moved in, taking advantage of the civil war and destroying every last demon in Desah. Every demon except Belzar, who had earlier been taken to the lands of Gaia and left to die by someone he thought was a friend. There, Belzar had hoped the slaughter would end.

But 50 years after Desah and the mysterious warrior was now trying to obtain conquest over Gaia. The people here were fighting him, and doing an admirable job. The different races, usually keeping to themselves, were showing absolute strength in unity... but Belzar still didn't think it would be enough. Gods only knew, when the warrior himself fought, instead of staying at the back, men who had fought their whole life were cut down like the wheat they sowed. Something had to be done, but as for what... Belzar just shook his head to clear it, and walked further into the forest.

Under the small oak tree, in the middle of the forest lay a young girl. From just looking at her, she stood out in the forest. Her gown was so white that the clouds looked black. Her hair, which flung ever which way, clung to the tree and highly contrasted with the dark brown of the dirt she lay on. But most extordinary of all, two fragile wings poked out of her gown, spreading over the grass. Flowers popped up out of the grounds to look at her and cusion her sleeping form. Small animals from the forest, mice, rabbits, weasels, came and watched her. This was an angel. Possibly the last angel there was in this place. An angel from Thelestia, who's name was Lillith. Lillith Forbid, the last angel and the only angel to survive the purge of the demons.

Lillith had fallen from the sky one hundred years ago, and she had landed in this very spot. SHe haddent moved from here. Actually, she couldnt. For a hundred years she had not regained concieousness. sO she slept, the animals and plants of this forest giving her protection through these long years. sHe had been fully aware of her surroundings, but the pain she had caused and was now feeling, made her slumber, waiting for it to fade. SHe didnt remeber anything of the day, except falling from Thelestia, which was red from blood.

In the forest, the flowers made a bed of soft cusion for her too sleep on. Animals kept her warm in the winter times, huddling close to her. Those years had been hard but it was now comming to the time where she needed to get up and make her journey for answers. sHe needed answers soon or all would be lost to her. She hated these questions in her mind. She knew her name, yes, and where she was from. But she didnt know what had happened. It haunted her and pained her not to know. But now, tangled over with the vines and branches of over-hanging trees, she had to get up and move on.

Lillith opened her eyes slowly. It was just nearing dusk so the sun didnt affect her eyes as much as it would have. THe animals looked wide-eyed and her and started chirping, squaking and squeeking to one-another. Lillith smiled weakly at them and sat up. Leaning her back up on the trunk of the tree binding her, she told it to gently let go of her, one vine at a time so she didnt drop uncontrolably to the ground. It did as asked and ten minutes later, she was standing steadily on the ground. The animals and flowers faces up at her, waiting for her. She smiled once more and told them to leave and go back to thier homes and family, she was alright. TO the flowers the ran her fingers acrossed thier heads and they grew even more.

" Protect this place and the trees too" sHe whispered to them and they shivered and several other flowers popped up to help. She grinned and laughed at them. Such a warm place, this one.

Stretching a bit, she waved a small goodbye and moved acrossed the forest. It had been a long time since she could move, and it was doing good for her. Recovering her strength, she ran her hands over every tree and animal she came by, telling them a soft thankyou and a farwell.

The pavilion was filled with a heavy, ponderous, silence, occasionally broken by the dull murmur of a clandestine comment passed from Elf Lord to Elf Lord. Bayltisar surveyed the assembled nobility that now crowded the king’s tent. The regal marquee, now awash with the sundry colours of the nobles’ garments and the glint of armour, had become a hub of fierce debate and sycophantic treachery. The coming war had aroused the minds of even the most apathetic fey highborn, with each aristocratic house represented in this pseudo-forum. A supercilious smile crept across Bayltisar’s face, as he currently held both the favour of the court and the ear of the king; his house held great power. He knew that his favour would not hold indefinitely, this point made infinitely clear by the perfidious smiles and dutiful nods that he exchanged with his brethren.

Bayltisar’s eyes turned to the king, resplendent in his ornate armour. He had ruled since Bayltisar was a mere youth, his venerable age beginning to show on his fatigued brow. The king, noticing Bayltisar's gaze raised his head and turned to the archmage. “Show me Bayltisar”. “As you my king” said Bayltisar, bowing. He passed his hands in front of him, whispering an arcane rigmarole. A detailed ethereal map of Gaia materialized before him, an otherworldly light define its features. Bayltisar passed his right hand over the amp once more, the arc of sight focusing on where the enemy lay encamped, far to the east. As the detail of the camp appeared each face in the tent darkened. An innumerable horde lay before them, the number of the elf army twelve fold. It took a moment for the assembled nobility to take in what was before them. Slowly the dull murmur started, escalating into a loud roar as the nobles debated amongst themselves of what action should be taken.

The king slowly turned to Bayltisar. “Bayltisar is it possible that our allies have seen this sight” said the king, a hint of urgency in his voice. “Unlikely sire, our allies’ mages are not as well versed in the arts as our orders” replied Bayltisar, pokerfaced. The king’s brow creased, “then you are to ride to their respective camps and show their generals what you have shown me, may the gods grant you a swift horse” the king’s voice had now taken on a note of dire need. “My sovereign”, Bayltisar bowed and made his way out of the pavilion. Stepping into the night air he turned to a nearby guardsman. “Saddle my horse and ready my retinue”. The guardsman saluted and hurried of. Bayltisar strode into his tent and took up his staff and sword.

A mere half an hour later Bayltisar was speeding through the countryside, accompanied by his armoured bodyguard. He prayed that their foe were not watching the roads.

Belzar continued to walk through the fores in silence. So far, it had been pretty uneventful. Although the monotony had been briefly broken a few hours ago by a party of thieves trying to ambush him, but Belzar had made rather short work of them, and had continued on in the usual silence, the only companion his thoughts. However, to anyone watching it would have looked very strange, as Belzar suddenly dropped to his knees and clutched his head in agony.

Yes, well it rather seems.... You can't just.... If we wake him now, we'll....
The voices stormed through Belzar's head. Even though they could only be heard as a faint whisper, it was still loud as thunder, as it had been ever since the unknown warrior appeared. After a few minutes, however, the faded and disappeared, and Belzar slowly got to his feet, breathing heavily. The voices had been plaguing him for so many years now he thought he'd be used to it, but as it turned out they were still as painful to hear as that first time. Slowly regaining his composure, Belzar did what he usually did after the voices hit him, and he shrugged it off and continued walking into the forest.

Suddenly, a strange figure came walking out of the trees, trailing her hand along them and wishing them protection. To most people it would probably have looked like a woman for a few seconds, but Belzar's eyes immediately flew to the tips of the wings sticking out of the top of the robe. 'Angel!' he thought, and instantly he drew his swords wordlessly, in self defence, and stood there, waiting to see what the angel would do.

SUddenly, the trees held her back from something. Vines wrapped around her waist as they begged her a warning. Frowning only a bit, she saw ahead of her what the trees were warning about. It was a man....odd. But with his sword drawn he looked like.....a...." Demon?!" SHe whispered to herself and struggled out of the vines. THe trees took thier chance to settle back and withdrew thier vines. SHe has a sword with her, but she perfered not to use it. SHe had simple elemental magic and the trees and flowers undernieath his feet helped a bit.

Giving a curt nod in the direction of the flowers, they grew and snaked up the demons feet, binding him tightly to the ground. Lillith didnt know anything about the demon war and that this was probally the last demon she was going to meet, but she felt a weird kind've hatred. It is in my blood... she thought helplessly. She didnt understand why this demon looked so sad. Maybe he is lost? but she dismissed the idea instantly. Demons dont get lost everyday. Holding still, she niether raised a hand to him or spoke to him, just stared with narrow eyes. Finally she drew her sword to see what he would do.

Belzar looked at the angel with confusion in his eyes, when suddenly the very plants themselves bound his legs to the ground at a gesture from the angel. Belzar's initial reaction was suddenly to sheathe his swords and draw his dagger, and begin hacking at the flowers around his feet, until he was free. At this point Belzar jumped backwards away from the quickly regenerating plants and looked at the angel. He was even more confused now. His instincts and past experience told him that he and the angel should be locked in combat by now, but instead she was fighting as defensively as he was, clearly not wanting to fight.

After a few seconds of careful consideration, Belzar sheathed all his weapons and slowly approached the angel.
"Very well." he said, his husky voice carrying to her. "It's clear you don't want to fight either. But why?" he asked. "Why would an angel be here in the first place, let alone letting me walk." he asked, desperation edging into his voice.

Lillith stood there, her sword proped unconfortably at her side. The demon was right, she didnt want to fight. Doubt was in her eyes as she looked the demon up and down. Staying silent for a few moment, talking in his husky voice, a frown creased her forehead. The silence between them held tense as she thought over her wordings. SHe haddent spoken in at least a hundred years, and her voice was unused. Taking a deep breath she said a bit patchily.

"What is it to you that I have been here and am just simply walking around?" Her voice was shaky yet it held the music of life as it floated past the trees. THe flowers all danced to it, as thier buds sprouted new flowers and grew even more around his feet. Even though they held no threat until she said the word, they still slightly clung every so often to his boots as a warning.

Lillith still held her sword in her hand and as the demon approached her, she took several stepps back and whipped the sword out in front of her, narrowing her eyes.

In the depths of the forest Sylavanas wandered as only a Druid knew how. Seemingly unable to be caught on briar or branch he made his winding way through the deep woods. Of late the forest had been a hostile place, no longer as warm and generous as it had been in Sylavanas' youth although he was only a young elf anyway. At his side his constant companion, the wolf Mara, moved in silence occasionaly sniffing the air for the scent of enemies. For foes multiplied and lately intruders had begun to incur into Sylavanas' home, he knew why this was, even out here in the depths of the trees he had heard whispers of the unknown warrior and he was worried.
This was why Sylavanas now made his way to the edge of the forest, in order to combat this growing menace he needed to understand what was happening in the lands beyond his realm and so he seeked for another soul from the outside who could illuminate him.
And he had found one just that morning, as dawn's light had filtered through the trees a raven had spoken to him, as ravens are wont to do, and had told him to wait for a rider upon the road which passed under the eaves of the last trees.
Sylavanas reached this road and settled down to wait comfortably at the base of one of the trees, as he did so the branches lowered protectively around him shielding him and Mara from unwanted eyes.
Along the road he saw a rider approaching.

Bayltisar rode along the weather beaten road, the sliver shod hooves of his elven steed passing with neither sound nor indentation upon the weathered track. The hood of Bayltisar's cloak concealing his visage from unwanted eyes. Though elves seldom took the pass through the forest in recent years, he knew the way well, having spent countless moons wandering the gnarled woodland's paths in his youth, a distant memory of days long since past. Bayltisar found his thoughts briefly wandering to the whereabouts of the order of druids which once wardency over this ancient forest. Once he had held council with their venerated masters, but no more, communication had long since diminished between the elf lords and their woodland brethren.

The elegant whiney of Bayltisar's horse brought his mind back from its reverie, Bayltisar's eyes subtlety surveying his surroundings. He could see the forests end ahead of him, an incandescent door of light in the gloom. As his eyes glanced to his flanks he became aware of a deficiency in the image he beheld, his retinue no longer kept sentinel at his side. Reining his horse in beneath the gaze of an expansive oak tree, an incantation already upon his lips.

The elf reined his horse in in front of Sylavanas' shelter. From his rich robes with arcane signs and staff Sylavanas recognised him as a wizard of no small power and he was aware of something amiss, the elf's bearing exuded an aura of power and calm. Sylavanas decided not to delay the confrontation for long, with a gesture and a muttered devotion Sylavanas called on the woods, his eyes flashed and there was glow around his hands. The wizard's horse reared up as the spell caster raised his staff, but before he could unleash his magic the ground around the wizard erupted and roots snaked up to drag him from his horse. The wizard landed heavily and before he could leap upright he was bound by the roots, his horse panicked and fled along the trail. Sylavanas smiled and emerged from the tree's shade, He spoke a quick word to Mara who loped after the fleeing horse.
Sylavanas addressed the wizard "Don't be afeared, you shall not be harmed and your steed shall be returned to you. I require only information"

Bayltisar raised his staff at the tree before him, and prepared to unleash the eldritch malefuricum upon its unseen occupant. Abruptly the ground quavered violently, affrighting his horse and sending him to the ground. Before Bayltisar could move the earth beneath him expelled a myriad of gnarled roots, which entwined themselves around his lithe form. Reaching out, Bayltisar's searching fingers found naught, his staff lay several inches from his grasp.

A figure emerged from its hiding place beneath the roots of the afore mentioned tree, a wolf at his side. The figure whispered to the wolf and it darted off after Bayltisar's absconded horse. Immobile, Bayltisar laid there and studied his captor as he approached. His eyes made out the shape of a male elf, Young and fair faced. His earthen garments evoked but one image in Bayltisar's mind, Druid. This filled Bayltisar's bewildered mind with intrigue, the old wardens still kept their sentinel over the woodland realms. The elf smiled in an affable manner and spoke in a tone that betrayed no malign intentions.

"Don't be afeared, you shall not be harmed and your steed shall be returned to you. I require only information"

The elf’s request seemed innocuous; his eyes gracious.

“Ask what you will and I shall answer as best as I am able”, Bayltisar's voic pregnant with indignation.

Belzar stopped suddenly as Lilith whipped her sword out between himself and herself. He raised his hands in a conciliatory gesture.
"I have already said I mean you no harm." he growled in his husky voice. "And as for my curiosity, I merely thought all of your kind was wiped out years ago." he said, by way of explanation. Belzar opened his mouth to continue saying more, when suddenly the familiar woolen feeling came over his mind, signalling another "episode".

Belzar clutched his head in both hands and fell to his knees, vaguely aware of the angel standing above him.
You can't be serious, alone he should... No! He's your child, you... Get out! Now!...
And as suddenly as the voices had come, they disappeared, leaving Belzar on all fours, panting hard, as though he'd just fought five other demons. Two in such a short space of time.... that had never happened to him before, and it worried him what that could mean.

Now, being an angel of the last sort, Lillith had no heart to ignore this episode he seemed to go through. Stricken with the information of his, saying that there was no other angels alive, she rushed near to him and hovered a feew feet away from him, eyes full of concern, yet they felt a bit uneasy. She didnt like demons, that was for sure, but everything about her memory was clouded. It was painful and there were rough voices in her ear. Shrugging, she turned her attention to the demon.

Frowning a bit with more concern, she bent down, still standing, and tilted her head into his face as he semed to re-awaken. Her silver hair spilled down unto the grass. As the hair spilt down to the trodded path, soft downy grass ept up to curl around the strand. Barely even noticing, she said to him, almost innnocently "Who are you..?" Her voice was full of nature, yet still held a bit of suspiciousness.

Belzar took a deep breath and looked at the angel, trying to recover his energy. His eyes followed her hair as it feel to the ground and became tangled in the rapidly growing grass, but after a few seconds he looked back up at Lilith.

"My name is Belzar." he managed to say. "And you and I are in the same position... I'm the last of my kind." he said, with complete seriousness. He then managed to push himself quickly to his feet. He could almost sense her distaste for him, because of his blood, like it was a solid force around them. "So, you won't ever have to worry about demons again." he said, as he turned to walk away from the angel. If she didn't wish to befriend him, he wasn't about to waste his energy trying. "I hope you live well." he said, as he started to walk off.

Blinking a bit at him, she was taken aback by his abruptness. Tugging her hair back from the grass, she called out " wait!" breathlessly, her eyes worried " I am not the last angel! there are more up in Thelestia" THe name sent a chill through her spine and instantly she felt like she had told a lie. THe shock sent her into silence and she widened her eyes, hurrying over to him " WHat do you mean..no angels and no demons?" sHe was surprised and the emotion stood out in her face the the sun in the sky. Her gray eyes, showing the surprise, widened as she saw his face " But the last I saw was THelestia until they came and..." sHE trailed off with a gasp and fell silent.

Belzar looked into the angel's eyes. He could see the sudden realisation dawning there, but he didn't want her to get any wrong ideas.
"Thelestia fell to the demons about one hundred years ago, as did every other angelic city. We eradicated every last one of your people, although clearly we missed you." he said. Then he stopped to take a breath. Speaking of his homeland still hurt him slightly. "And the last I saw of Desah and my people, was a civil war... we were killing ourselves off, and now I'm all that's left."

Belzar stopped and bowed his head in silence for a few seconds. He then looked back up at the angel.
"I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name though."

Lillith frowned a bit and walked up beside him " I know of the war within Thelestia...but I dont remember...anything else.." It was painful, straining to rmemeber what happened before she fell to the earth...SHaking her head a tiny bit, she looked back to him and saw how much it hurt him. She stayed silent for a moment and whispered "I'm sorry" SHe paused to think her words over carefully. " We were foolish...we drove the demons..you..to attack us..we were arrogant" She felt like she was talking for all the angels. THe words just poured out of her motuh like a strand of silk.

SHe started a bit and looked back at the trees, muttering " My name....is Lillith"

Belzar looked hard at Lilith, aware of how hard it must have been for her to say those words on behalf of the fallen angel race. He moved closer to her and placed a hand on her shoulder, as a show of trust. For a demon to touch an angel was almost unheard of.
"Do not be so hard on yourself, or your race." he said softly. "We kept going, even when you stopped... our thirst for revenge drove both of our races to the brink of extinction." he said.

He then looked hard into Lilith's eyes.
"If you've been unaware of the recent happenings though, then allow me to bring you up to speed." he said. "Gaia is currently under attack by an unknown warrior and his army. The many races are fighting valiantly, but even they will soon fall. Unless something drastic is done." he said firmly. "The warrior killed the last of my people left in Desah. For that I will not let him live while I am still alive. I am sorry our meeting was so brief, but I must try to kill him." he said, then turned to walk off again.

She shuffled a bit, but ignored his touch as though it was something that happened everyday.

~Flashback~ Her instuctor reached out and grinned to her, but his look was one of seriousness was he said in a totally serious voice " Never let a demon touch you..under any circumstances. It will be a sign that all has ended and nothing can be done with anyone.."

Everything has ended, she thought grimly as she nodded to him and took in all his information. It was hard..hearing about her beloved Gaia and her home, THelestia. Grimly setting her features into a firm expression, she let out a breath and said to him, laying her hand on his shoulder (hes really tall...she thought) and looking serious "I will come with you.."

Belzar looked down at Lilith, and for the first time since meeting her, grinned.
"Very well." he said. "After the war between our kinds, I must admit I'd quite like to have an angel on my side." he said, with a slight chuckle.
"My first port of call was going to be the encampments for the different races, and see who I could gather to my cause. Unlike them, I don't plan to outrightly clash with the warrior's army, and instead have my own planned destination. It may be dangerous, but if you are still interested in helping and have no better plan, then by all means, let's go." he said.
