Well, I don't think it'll translate well at all if the ending with the Shire is put it. THE climatic battle was fought and won, we see The Eye explodes and Elessar crowned and all the rest. It'll be quite odd to go back and fight again, the ending in the film is all about the resolution for the characters

I got notified by Amazon on Monday that they are now taking pre-orders for the theatrical version of ROTK.

I am glad the wait is shorter, but doesn't it seem like its breaking their tradition? It was always in the theaters in December, Dollar theater in April/May, and on DVD by August, EE sometime in November.

    Cheers! :draught:

That schedule was to get the hype up for the Christmas release of the next film, since there'll be no next filme, it doesn't matter.

And I for one will want to get my hands on the EE set ASAP!

Hell yeah! I'll have to start early in the morning just so I don't end up bugging my neighbors to all hours of the night.

Hell yeah! And I've seen ads for the standard edition RoTK going for 12.99. That's awful low. But a lady at Toys R Us told me they aren't selling ANY presales for that. Nobody's buying it. Everyone is saying that they are waiting for the EE. Can't say as I blame them. Perhaps that's why the low price as well.

So you hang out at Toys R Us a lot, huh Jeremiah? :D

But I agree with Jesse. And I can't wait until December. I seriously think they are trying to torture me by doing that...

Haha, cute. :p I was there getting a gift for my 5-year old niece's birthday.

When did we hear December as a release date for the Extended Edition? This is news to me.

    Okay, okay...

    I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys R Us Kid.
There's a million toys at Toys R Us that I can play with.
From bikes to trains to video games it's the biggest toy store there is...
I don't wanna grow up, cuz baby if I did,
    I couldn't be a Toys R Us Kid.

Wow...now that's nostalgia for you. Can't believe I actually remember the words to that one...but...there you have it.

Seriously though, is December the official release date of the EE of ROTK? I was hoping for something much sooner...along the lines of August or September. Yikes!!!

Hehe, I had totally forgotten about that song.

I had actually heard that they were takling about a November release date like the previous two, which would be better than December, but not much. And they talk about releasing it for "Holiday 2004", which could mean anytime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. (Although nowadays stores start getting the Christmas stuff out at Halloween. Sheesh.)

It's wierd in the sense that it diverges from the norm...
But it makes sense if they want to capitalize on the holiday shopping season. It's the only reason to wait so long to release it...unless they're finalizing content.

So can anyone confirm what extras are on the standard edition now that it's out? Is there a preview for the Extended Edition???
