Well, I'm only up to 8 in the second season.

The whole thing is similar, grrms world is akin to the sordid history of old rome.

Well some of the paralles in my mind are: (rome to Asoiaf) Atia : Cat, Verenous : Ned, Robert : Pullo, Octavian : Littlefinger&Rob I could go on but I think this enough.

    Atia : cat!

    ..........................

Atia is practically skankerella, although she does have the concerned mother thing she humps half of everyone and plots murder in her spare time................doesnt sound like Cat but it begins with a C............

Verenus is the honourable father, but hes too common soldier/modest for ned. though the robert/pullo thing is good, good warrior, good friend, complete idiot outside of the warzone.

Well I realize that there arn't exactly perfect, But I was going more personality for the Verenus : Ned and then I think that the if Cat were a Roman and a widow she would be doing the shit that Atia did... when it comes to roman culture there will alwasys differences in some circumstances (such as sex) that no other civilization has done..... Like if were to say that Octavia and Sansa were alot alike I am talking about the innocence that they both share when it comes to love (i.e. both are suckers for it) even tho octavia is a little whore herself

Oooh, just remembered a good one.

Ptolleme or however you spell it, the egyptian boy king before cleopatra, whiny little git with inflated self esteem.

    *Cough*Joffrey*Cough*

And I seem to remember a bald eunach advisor to the brat among others.

Well. Content wise there are a lot of similarities.
Such as the great Heads. Spikes. Walls. -episode, where a roman soldier stands on the shoulders of another soldier and places a head on a spike, three times in the episode.

If you wan´t to compare ptolemy to Joffrey, then this reminds me of Tywins plan to just put Varys, littlefingers and Pycelles heads on spikes and be done with it.

As it happened Ceaser was much more of a man than Tyrion, and actually Head. Spike. Walled the boykings three bad advisors.

There are a lot of parallels. Atia and Cersie are very similar since they are both always scheming but end up committing blunders. Mark Anthony is like Jaime since they are both very into sex and war, and they have humorous personalities. Tywin Lannister and Julius Caesar are similar because they are both very good at making strategies and they inspire both fear and respect from their enemies. Octavian and Stannis are similar because they both are pious and have very cold attitudes, not to mention also a firm belief that they should rule.
