Roma in Europe

    This will be very interesting to follow, I expect. It's a severe test case of national souvereignty versus legislative power of Brussels.

    Knowing the history of Europe, I think both parties won't let go easily on this particular issue. Germany will feel the obligation to protect the rights of the Roma. Sarkozie can't back down for political consequences back home. There is a small - but very real - possibility that this will be the beginning of the end of the EU...

    More likely that there'll be a face saving fudge, money from EC for to pay for legal sites or similar...
