Most areas have a local Reinassance festival at some point in the year. Anyone ever go to them?

This year at my festival they had a pirates theme! The pirates were awesome looking.

But I love to check out different festivals and the shops and things. I was going to by this knife at my festival but decided against it and then my sister went to her's and found the same knife by with a different design, a better design, and it was a heck of a lot cheaper. So its good to shop around!

I simply love going to them though just for the atmosphere. Queens, Lords, Ladies, Jousting, Sword Fighting, Human Chess. Its a great escape from civilzation and fun to pretend you are actually in that era.

I never actualy been to one( I'm not even sure if there is one by me:( ) but I went to my first Highland games this year and I loved that ( I think its the biggest in the state something like 30000 people were there this year) so I'll probaly try a RF pretty soon.

Yeah, sounds like the one in Ohio though. Ours is really good, people come from across the country to come to it.

I've been to the New York Renaissance Faire several times. (NY one is actually closer to me than the NJ one. ) I always loved watching the shows and people in costumes. Although I never dress up.

The one here just got done last weekend. Although I didn't get a chance to go this year. :(

Yah ours is pretty big too. Its one of the bigger ones around here. The one in Waterloo my sister went to is more of a family oriented one.

Have you guys ever participated in the shows? This pirate followed my sister around and we overheard him talking about her to this other worker. hehe it was funny. And then my sister's bf had his twenty ripped in half and burned and then got it back and my mom had her hand cut off.

Yeah, they're great. I've only been to one a few years ago, but they cancelled it in recent years. I heard that they're probably going to start it up again next year.

I volunteered at the Northern CA Ren Faire for 2 years in a row. The experience is completely different. If you have the time, you must try it!!! Heck of a blast.

Ahh, I've gone to the one in Minnesota (biggest in the US if i'm not mistaken) it's awesome. Huge area too. Lasts for a good while too, July to some time in September I'm pretty sure. I would suggest that any/all of you guys who live relatively close to Minnesota take a drive up here some time and check it out, it's awesome.

It's interesting to see the difference between all the festivals. I know most of them have a Human Chest Match if I'm not mistaken. What were all the themes this year? The one I went to was a pirate theme this past summer and the one before didn't really have a theme but it had visiting royalty who stole stuff. So I guess I should call it plot line instead of theme.

The one near me in OK. is nice about 60,000 people and a 60 acre castle which they also use as a haunted house during halloween
