It would probably be a good idea to concentrate on obtaining the remaining swords in the collection before stock runs out. UC is discontinuing the line, and it's unlikely that any other manufacturer will pick it up -- UC's manufacturing capacity would be hard to match, any other manufacturer would be hard-pressed to meet them on pricepoint.

Which is why I find any weapons petitions at this point a lost cause.

why not try spreading new petitions around, Example pippins, merrys, sams, and faramirs sword. We could also try to start petitions for armor, shields, banners and flags, daggers, and accessories and costumes( I mean real costumes, not halloween costumes). What do you say? :balrog: :dragon:

Yeah King, not trying to gang up on you or anything, but the petitions for Farmir and Pippin's swords etc were only relevant when relevant when there was a manufacturer who may have taken notice. No manufacturer, no point. Not here at least. Maybe a proper petition on paper would get more notice from prospective manufacturers, but I don't know who they'd be. Sadly it looks like the days of LOTR swords being produced are gone :-(

Fingers crossed, in years to come maybe a manufacturer will pick up the rights which may be cheaper in the future and we can all start collecting again. Until then though, don't hold your breath.

A company cannot just make LOTR weapons, they need a license from New Line Cinema to do movie based props.

I'm pretty sure licenses are negotiated to be exclusive, meaning if the current manufacturers do not make the items, no one will.

United Cutlery has a license to make weapons, shields, and helms.

Ruby's costume company has a license to sell armor & costumes wholesale. They don't really make any armor, they're a cheapo costume company. So it is a wasted license, but what can you do?

Museum Replicas has a license to sell armor & costume items, but retail only, that is why you won't find any retailers selling them since Newline did not give them permission to wholesale the products.

Master Replicas has a license to produce electronic collectibles... which they aren't going to do.

Really, if you want to see this line revived, your best hope is to lobby Peter Jackson to make the Hobbit.

Otherwise, there isn't much you can do. United Cutlery is walking away from some major sales numbers by discontinuing the line, so a petition or outcry isn't likely to change their mind (and believe me, they hear outcry from their retailers anyways).

The owner of the rights to the book/movie are the holdup there, not PJ. Who knows if he'd want to go back to the LOTR universe after it ate up 10+ years of his life!

    Yeah, I also do. XD

That's a very good point: if you want a LOTR blade SO badly, why not to make your own?

Actually, my plan is to study metallurgy and the fabrication of steel as a chemical engineer, and then begin swordsmithing. The advantage is that I will be going from the 21st century backwards, instead of from B.C. to the golden age of swordsmithing.
