Way to early to imagine it being anything more than a dream but...

I just can't help thinking that the LOTR would lend itself magnificently to a set of prequel films.

Anyone know whether any of the team involved discussed this - anyone know Peter Jackson to ask?

Yeah, if anyone does the Hobbit, it should be PJ. He would do it best I believe.

Greetings. I've only just joined and now this is my first post. I don't recall exactly where I read it, but I read somewhere that Ian McKellan is STRONGLY urging Peter Jackson to pursue The Hobbit and now Jackson is in the process of getting approval or whatever with New Line. I sure hope this is true, b/c The Hobbit sure explains a lot of inside things in Fellowship. Anyway, you can all shoot me if I end up being wrong, but that is what I read somewhere.

Where did you get that info?

As per declarations from PJ in the Wellinton Premiere, there is the possibility that "someone" make the Hobbit but, "Nobody acquired the rights."

we had a puppet version of The Hobbit here in Oz. It was surprisingly good. THey only left out the bit with Beorn the shape changer. Everything else was in it. Smaug was insanely huge and awesome!!!. They had a few live actors, but it was mostly puppets. The puppets were operated by pupeteers who were dressed in black and onstage, (who also did the voices), but after a while you didn't notice. It was a fantastic production

hello, I was reading interviews news reporters (or whatever) had with PJ opening day in New Zealand premire of ROTK. And they asked him if he was gonna do the hobbit and he said that newline isn't really focusing on that write now.
But it would be cool if they did make it

Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh told in an interview that their main project right now was to end the script of King Kong, to meke the movie and later on to work in something involved in "the Lord of the Rings" theme: a chronological movie (all facts in line, without flashbacks) of the trilogy, but they didn't know if New Line would support this, and being asked about "The Hobbit" they told that the steps to make "The Hobbit" were been followed.

So the journey didn't end...Smaugh??? :dragon:

I really want to see the Hobbit done. I think it would be a great movie! Lots of different things going on than in the LoTR. Who knows... until then... we have our imaginations :)

o it would b so sweet...but i dont look for the Silmirillian (sp) to be made any time soon...they will probably wait till after the Hobbit (most likely going to be made) and see how much $ it made and if everyone liked it...

i would LOVE to see the first war of the Ring...Elendil seemed like such a good charecter in the books...then they might consider Aeglos for production, thus making dwarf tosser go into a trance of glee :draught:
