    I'm the opposite.
They have to tie the tourniquet tight and thump away on my arm. When I was recently in the ER after a car accident it took three pokes before they finally hit oil. The first two were a male nurse who I think was training... he got a bit nervous and called over an experienced nurse who got it first try. I hate being stuck with those needles!

When I was at the hospital 2 years ago first they wanted to take some blood for testing and afterwards had to fix me with a drip for three days in a row. Every time they had huge problems with finding the veins to stick needles in. It took various attempts each time and they even perforated a vein in the back of my hand so I got a huuuge bruise all over it. I remember that in the end they took the blood from my fingertip and they had to call anaesthetists to put the drip needle in (from what I understood they are better skilled at this than the nurses). I had needle marks all over my arms and hands, I looked like a drug addict :S It was absolutely awful, I also hate needles, especially when I'm already in bad shape.

I know, it's like adding insult to injury.
For me it's not so much the yucky feeling of being poked with a needle numerous times but more that someone in the ER isn't quite up to snuff, and then wondering who else is going to be working on me that also might suck at their job. When I finally had a doctor look at me to determine if I was going to need surgery he had tattoos running up one of his arms. I'm cool with my tattoo, I'm cool with yours... but I definitely don't want my doctor to have tattoos. :)

Every Australian has a story to tell about being swooped by magpies and having to run for your life :D Jokes aside, those sharp pointy beaks are very good at poking eyes out of people during nesting season. Luckily these ones at the school are used to humans as a source of food but local parks and walking to and from school used to be running the gauntlet!

They're awfully pretty birds though. We don't have them here that I've ever seen.
Canadian kids having a picnic in a park get to run from the geese. I had a Canada goose chase me once as a kid when my grandmother took us to a park. Darn thing wanted my sandwich..... and it got it too. Grrrrrr

Well, back on topic, I have quite a few mobile phone picture to post, but following what's on here:

I'm a mix of the two: my veins stick out like a troll's erection (heh Sparrow) but when you go pricking in there, you get as much blood as you would from a thirsty vampire. I have loads of blood in my body, but never where I'm cut.

As to magpies, they're really only a nuisance here, because they pick on other birds. I like it when ravens pick on them though.
And geese are only really scary for children here. Never been attacked by a canadian goose though, they're usually quite docile.

This is a pretty neat scene that I sometimes get to see when I'm driving to work. Today I actually remembered my camera so I could stop and take a pic of it for you guys AND it the air was relatively clear so you could actually see stuff in the distance. It's a little too bad that it was overcast and that the panoramic setting on my camera was causing me grief. As a result I have two photos and you'll just have to imagine them side by side as one. :D

    This is southern Ontario:

If you look closely at the extreme left on the first pic ^^ you can see Toronto's CN Tower and the metro Toronto skyline waaay in the distance.

Here's a closer view of the Toronto skyline (thank goodness for the zoom function!):

We have terrible humidity every summer. The temperature always feels at least 2-3 degrees warmer from the humidity. We also get smog which comes both from traffic in the city and if the winds are right, it blows toward us over Lake Ontario from the US. If it's bad enough, it keeps blowing northward and we even get it up here. :( When I took that pic it was definitely humid, not smoggy. Smog has a distinct brown tint to it. :p

I guess as cities go that it's nice enough. I'm not really the one to ask though since I have limited experience with cities in general. Sparrow would probably know better....lol. Out of all the Canadian cities I 've visited I'd say that I like Ottawa the best. That's our capital city and it is gorgeous. It also isn't very big, which is a bonus in my opinion.

lol... why would you want to?!?!?!?!

annnd how did you put those two photos together???? I tried to do it in my paint program and I couldn't get them to line up properly. The one you did is seamless!

    Photoshop to the rescue :)
There was distortion that needed to be corrected, so it wasn't a straight-forward side-by-side.

Finished a whirlwind trip with my niece whose here in Florida scouting universities, finding out about tuition and living costs, and generally having a pretty good time. Wow, lots of cute college girls so I can't complain!

My niece standing next to a very goofy looking pirate statue while we were visiting Fernandina Beach.
