To put it to a joke

Why did God create man before woman?

Because you're always supposed to have a rough draft before creating your masterpiece :D Mwahahahaha

That's funny, I thought the answer was "Because you needed the man to make a kitchen and a stove and a washing machine to validate a woman's existence."

Back at ya, hon. lol :halo:

But still a woman needs a man. So we are all masterpieces!

What about shutting down the post count in random chat, it's basically spam, though not as bad, but still a lot of people do just come there to get their post count up.

Yeah I agree, I don't see the point in the random chat area at all. Surely people can do just that in spam? In our forums it is like that anyway, and indeed, we don't have a post count there either. We only have it in the RPG areas themselves, but on others it does not count.

far as I can see random chat was created asa bridge between spam and normal threads
most of the threads in general chat are spammy, but its also just general chatty stuff and interactions. Not really spam in that it has mostly no use since there is a focus to most threads which is kept to.

I do agree cutting out the post count of that section might be agood move - at least it will show if the threads have interest beyond the counter number.

ps - I never understand why those who don't pay any attention to post count always want it dead? ;)

We just want to help those who are addicted to post count... we appreciate that it may cause short term withdrawal symptoms but it's really for your own good. Deep down you know that, even if you can't face the truth at this point in your life :p

Scrapping post count altogether gets my vote :D

    I'm against that vote.

I feel that originally it indicated the user's station at the forum. Kind like "exp" as it were lol. Unfortunately that indicator is now skewed.

^ I suppose so but as you say it's pretty meaningless now anyway.

A better measure is to look at the join date & tff rank ~ ie Nobility, Noble, Ranger or whatever ~ hide post count.

Well the rank is proportional to the post count, but yea, join date is one of the better indicators.

I would happen to agree with Elladan. This seems to be some kind of recurring issue. If there were no post count it could well possibly end it. Though given how people who posted in SPAM reacted when it was taken away it could damage the forum in the same way, and I wouldn't want that.

To be honest, I don't care either way. A high post count is nice, but I really don't care that much anymore.

I will probably be shot down for this, but it looks like the people with already high post counts want all spammy type threads not to count, despite the fact that they (possibly) gained most of their post count in such type threads.
Is this due to being worried about overtaken by newbies? Maybe you just want to rest on your laurels and live in the past? lol.
Whatever the case, I believe all posts should count regardless. Activity is activity afterall, and I am sure you all know who the spammers are, and work out your "Hierachy" accordingly.
Plus it is good for peoples ego's! :p

I don't deny posting in the spam section in the past, but the majority of my posts are outside of it.

For the love of God, just get rid of post count.

I'm not sure about the rest of you but I find a higher postcount to be, quite frankly, embarrassing. It means that at some point in your life that you really had nothing better to do besides post in the Spam section.

My guilty year was when I first joined, at 14. :/

Been here like 6 years, sort of expected to have a fairly high count.

For now, the post count will remain for random chat. I like to hope that section will add to the forum. Chatting with other members isn't a bad thing as long as it's kept under control in one area. Spam will never have post count again, as it's merely a place to keep some members from spamming the entire board.
