This is the poll to end all polls, you can vote for men being better, or women being better, but must state your reasons, otherwise no count. I will put a "both" option, but that is for if you really don't want to vote.

I went with men because men are better at all sports. Most big, clever scientists were men, and most - but not all - of the greatest rulers/leaders were men. Men are more resistant than women.

Best answer I can think of.

Women look better, smell better, feel better.

This may the first time I've ever agreed with Alex.

This poll was meant to be: is it better to be a man, or a woman.

Damn, you should just rephrase the whole thing then. Your OP really seems uber vague in this aspect. -.-

I also am rubbish at creating threads.

The only one that's continued long enough is an argument with Greybeard about if any knowledge was lost in the Middle Ages because of the RCC. It's in the medieval boards if you want to see.

    so the poll fails.

I also misinterpreted the poll. It's a man's world so in general, I think life is easier when you're a man.

... but I don't agree with this, of course.

Are you just saying this to provoke? I hope so.

The reason why the greatest leaders - and also the worst- were men, is because.... Most leaders were men. Women rarely had the opportunity to rule due to oppression. By the way, I think one of the greatest leaders ever, was Elizabeth I.

Again, the reason why the greatest scientists were - because that's changing nowadays- men, again, is that women mostly stayed home doing "woman's work". There are also numerous examples of women working together with men, doing a great deal of the work, while the men get the credit for it.

More resistant? Well... To quote Jo Koy: "You think you're tough 'cause you catch a football? That ain't tough. Let a football come out of your ass. That's tough."

Well srsly we have to understand the fact that history's been rife with the sexist culture. But then again from what I've heard, there's a certain period in feudal Korea where women are viewed as equal. I think it's the Jyoseon era, but I could be wrong. Need to check if got time.

And you can't say that women rulers are immune to corruption of absolute power iirc. Human weakness has no diff in gender. Elizabeth I was guilty of that count during the final 15 years of her reign. Ditto for Wu Zetian as well not to mention ppl like Jezebel and Athaliah within the Jewish history. And I could just rant on and on where Jiang Qing is concerned.

And just on an off topic note, I'm not trying to sound sexist, but I do think that Liu Bang would be what I will call one of the greatest leaders of all time even so much more than Elizabeth I. If you understand Chinese history, you'll know that unlike her era, the nature where he managed to unify the country was nothing short of a constant sequence of wisdom. Shame that he ended up being power corrupted tho. -.-

No I completely agree. I think in general, power corrupts, sadly enough, and women are not immune to it. Women in power don't behave much different from men in power. I do not know much about the ancient China but I'll take your word for it. :)

Actually you dun have to take my word for it. Google has always been the best thing the internet has given to mankind. imo the chaotic era of the post Qin dynasty was nothing short of an epic sequence where the military struggles between Liu Bang and Xiang Yu are concerned. :)

there were points in time in Japan when women were almost equals as well, were there not? And in Ukiyo the powerful women could utterly humiliate even the samurai.

Joan of Arc and the Amazons. But, then again all the famous fantasy horses are male: Shadowfax, Sympthony, Ferrin, etc. But, I'm happy being female, males have one of the biggest disadvantages as Froid has proved, the male ego and the problem that most of their existance revolves around one central organ...

Hmm, okay I suppose I'll vote for woman then Druid.
