Hello, I've been speaking with a couple of the TFF members here and it was decided that you should all play D&D. So sign up below for player characters. Just shout out that you want to play and we will sort all the details later. I have DM'd before but I am really looking to be a player right now, especially since I am already running a different game. If someone else DM's, then I assume it will be 5e, though no promises. If it is me, we will be playing some weird obscure old version of D&D, since I like exploring the older systems. I also like running classic modules, but don't get too excited, since I am resisting the DM role. Bring your friends, the more the merrier.
I'm in. Can we play whatever we want, or is it a certain edition we're going to use with only certain types of characters and classes?
The system we use probably depends on the DM and what they are familiar with. So the rest will fall into place once the DM is decided. My preference is towards Basic edition, which is quite restrictive in terms of class and race selection. You begin with only a few HP, and it's probably a good idea to actually roll up a couple of characters, since most of the classes can be one-shot by a lucky hit. Strategy, teamwork, and luck really come into play when talking about survivability. I usually allow two sets of stats to be rolled and my players get to pick which one they want to play with. An 18 in intelligence doesn't mean much if all the stats you want to play a Dwarf are present on the other set of stats. The deadliest, darkest, deepest dungeons await players in my game. Come as you are and leave your old life behind.
Roll20, aye. You'd need voice chat though. Just asking, cause some people prefer to do it in a group video call. Ain't doing that, lol.
I do like discord. I'm not huge on roll20 since there are often connection issues, and their voice chat is very low quality. My preference is towards theatre of the mind unless we are using a system specifically designed for maps and miniatures, but I will play whatever is available. There is also play by post if you want a more plodding but more highly detailed campaign.
This looks like at least four people, five if we include Olivia's friend. A party of four is good for newer editions, I would call for more if we are playing an older edition like Basic. It is a little more deadly than for instance fifth edition. We will wait for two more to join and if neither of those are DMs then I will set up a game for us and also run it.
Depending on the time/day of the week we settle on I'll probably be drinking a little as well. Maybe we should start formulating that? Also JIM should have his PC back tonight. He said Tuesday but he's in AU and he's like 15 hours ahead of me I THINK so about 9 ahead of you lot over in EU/UK
Definitely! I start my new job next week, but I'm not sure what my hours will be yet. I think the store is closed on Sundays, so Sundays will be best for me. How often should we try to meet? Also will it be the same day and time every month, or will we try to hold some flexibility ?
I would say, and I hold no authority so please just take it as a suggestion, that it would be better to aim for a concurrent schedule. Ie "Every Sunday from 4pm-7pm" kind of thing.
