Which place did you like best in the whole series? Which castle, town, city, forest? You can also put pictures if you want to.
Here are some pictures by Ted Nasmith, pictures that he did for the encyclopaedia of martin's world- The world of Ice and Fire

    Wow!

    cool pictures.

i like Winterfell, because it had a nice, homely feeling.
plus, it just seemed like an AWESOME place.

Based on those pictures, Dragonstone looks really spectacular. Based on the books, I've always really loved the Eyrie.

Dragonstone and Winterfell look great there... I guess Winterfell is probably my favourite from the books too.

Wait what, is World of Ice/Fire out already? And I don't have a copy?! Or is this just a preview?

Based on those pictures... Winterfell/Dragonstone all the way. Because I am a wuss and think that temperatures under 70F = cold, I'd probably feel right at home with Sunspear. :(

I have the artbook. I heard rumors about a worldbook but I wasn't sure if it's been published yet or not.

So I'm going to be honest and confess (is there a priest available?) all my sins.

I have not, in fact, been keeping up with every ASoIaF-related piece of news.

The worldbook is something that Elio suggested a while ago (read like a year ago). Elio is the guy who runs the Westeros fansite. I'm not sure if it's happening at all, but I did hear rumors.

I have the art book also and those pictures are definately not in it. Must be an independent artist.

Em isn't keeping up on Martin? Dang, I guess I'll have to start checking his site instead of the forums now. ;)

I really can't say which places i like best.
the reason I like aSoIaF is mostly the characters and the story.
    The locations aren't that great.
    ***Runs in cover***

All I know is that the worldbook/concordance is being edited by Ran(Elio)
Haven't been keeping up on any news about the publication date(if any is available)
As far as i know it is a work in progress, and extensive.
Seem to remember people saying it will first be out after aDwD, to help cover the gap before the new book. And be able to contain cool stuff from aDwD.

Martin is wrtiting the book alredy and it will be published after the Dance. These pictures are only a preview of Nasmiths art for the book ;) He also drew Casterly Rock, Highgarden Storm's End and Sunspear. I can't find these pictures in a normal format and they're not on his website, but I found them like this:

Last update from Ran on the westeros board on 9. of January 2008:
    #########################################################

Certainly, the book isn't coming out before ADwD. I should think 2009 seems very probable.

    General update:

A few weeks ago we sent a very rough partial draft of the book to the editor. This is more to give the graphic designer to start getting some ideas as to how to layout the book. At this point, it remains largely material drawn from the books, SSM, and so on. We're not getting any super secret input from GRRM until ADwD is done -- ADwD is his primary focus.

That said, yesterday George went through our list of 1400+ characters in the series, and culled it down to a couple of hundred who'll be included in a sort of Who's Who. In the process, he categorized them by how much information would be needed for their individual entries, and there are some surprising choices there that give a bit of a hint about this or that character's importance to the rest of the series.

We've seen another of Ted's castle paintings -- jaw-dropping, as I said elsewhere. And Justin Swift is said to have been making progress on his art, and George has sent him several more suggested scenes to work on as he completes those he already has set.

    And so ends the update.

I'm surprised they're publishing any sort of encyclopedia type book before the series is finished. Wasn't Winterfell razed? It could cease to exist by the end of the story.

When he talked about the plans for his trip to spain, George let slip some of his inspiration for one of his locations.

As Casterly rock really hasn´t got a desription in the books, this will give us some food for our imaginations when we try to picture the rock.
