Almost finished with Faith of the Fallen. I have been told that Pillars is a useless read and just to have a avid fan tell me about the story and the important characters introduced in that book.

Anyone else feel this way about it?

Pillars of creation is an okay book but if you want to get familiar with Jennsen, who does help out in books after it then, I would read it. If you are like me when it comes to reading, you'll skim most of it. It isn't one of my favorites but it is part of the series. It is your choice. I wouldn't buy the hardback edition of it unless you are a die hard fan like myself. I'd suggest either borrowing it from the library or buying a paperback edition. Hope that helps you out! :D

    Not that good.
But it is a vital part to understand the story, although you will probably see what happened in the later books.
It shows how people without magic came to the world and what their role (quite big one o_O) is in the future of mankind.

ok I went read the plot summary on Wikipedia. So this book does not pick up where faith of the fallen left off?

The summary talks about Jennsen and Oba what happens to them. What happens to all the people who revolted in Altur'rang? How does that affect Jagang and the Imperial Order?

What about Nicci? What becomes of her?

Does Ann find Nathan? Who restored the journal for Ann? Has to be more to this book than the Rahl siblings and them trying to kill Richard

So Jagang just hangs out, doesn't advance at all?

What about Altur'rang? Do all the people there keep fighting?

I didnt mind reading Pillars, but I think thats because I was reading the books one after the other. By the time I got to it I was tempted to take a break and read something else, but I buckled down and read it anyway. It was like reading something differant but not. So it was a win win for me. I enjoyed reading about Jennsen and Betty, Oba was a very wierd guy.. the rest of the gang show up at the VERY end, which was ok
I'd have to say if there was a book I wished I'd skipped it was Naked Empire (YAWN), but there will always be a book that is your least favorite. All in all when you get to Chainfire everything kicks butt, and the last three books are AWSOME.

If you're a diehard fan of Richard and Kahlan, you will more than likely skip to the end of the book as I did at first, but it does give an insight into Jenssen and it may be a breath of fresh air for some people to read about characters other than Richard and Kahlan.

Read POC or the last pages haha it's always good to read all the books in the series just so you don't feel as if you've missed out on anything.

Like I said, I skipped it. I finished Naked Empire and I am now reading Chainfire.
