Hey, thank you all for the kind comments.
Sparrow, I think you're spot on your observations.
I'm sorry I cannot properly relax and reflect on my thoughts at the moment.
I'll come back and do so at a later time :D

A woman this fine I have to smudge a bit, in order to reveal her true forms to the eyes of the beholder so I guess that's the one ending up on my blog later on. :)

Thanks! It's kind of an experimental piece. A good fun. :)

Well, by the looks of the octopus' expression..?#C&%!E#"NS!!!O(//&R??ING!... Ooops, each to his or her own I guess.. ;)
Concerning troubles with nudity, I think the trouble you encountered had to do more with portraying members of the forum, or rather other peoples opinion of you portraying members of the forum?
Hell if I know, I guess I have a storm on the ascend upon my horizon if you're right... By the way, if you have some sort of list with people to draw, I'd love to be in it. I can wait. :)

I have trouble drawing males... I just love the female form too much.;)

I've actually finished the artwork with Julie in it... I was sort of experimenting myself with this one. It's a little bit surreal and dream like. You must be familiar with Maxfield Parrish?.. I'm not remotely as good as he was but I kind of used his work as inspiration. Julie does have a naked butt in the piece I'll post later on this week, so we'll see how the mods take it.:)

The feeling is mutual... you're an excellent illustrator and artist.

I think it would be neat if we could get one of the girls here on TFF to pose for us, to see how we both approach the same subject matter. That would be interesting.

That would be great fun. I'm always trying to get my girfriend to do poses for me as I'd love to do an oil painting in a style of Parrish, Waterhouse or Mucha or why not Jeffrey Jones?
So, girls; if interested, you know who to contact. Also I'd love to do one of the lads as well some time.

Oh don't get me going on Waterhouse... what a painter!
Jeffrey Jones is legend... she is the archetype for popular illustrators working the fantasy/scifi genre. I don't think we'll see the likes of her again. Unless I'm mistaken she died not long ago? I recall hearing her name on National Public Radio some time ago and having died after a long illness.

I very much agree, what an superb artist. I actually like all of those who shared "the studio"; Bernie Wrightson, Barry Windsor-Smith, Michael Kaluta and Jones.
Yeah, she died two years ago I think. I think there's a documentary out about her, but I haven't seen it. Think I saw the fundraiser or something for it.

Here's something I did a long while back, it's a panel from a graphic novel and it kinda sorta has the feel of a Jeffrey Jones painting... a little bit anyhow.

What an incredible piece, Sparrow. What a wonderful character. Can't you explain to me the process in making such an image?
It certainly have that feel, amazing. I'm literally in awe.

    Thanks Per!

I used to do animation so it comes from that process.

Starting with a pencil drawing I would shoot it on an old style horizontal camera, then I'd expose the negative on to positive film effectively turning it into a pen and ink drawing on clear mylar... just like an animation cel. I'd paint the reverse side of the mylar with animation paint (vinyl paint) and when finished scan it into my computer using a flatbed scanner. Then of course touching it up and applying any special effects within Photoshop.

The tricky part is painting reverse order on mylar... you have to do your highlights first and mix the paint as you go right on the mylar. There's no going back and reworking something you don't like. It forces you to get into the "zone" real fast and stay there until you're done.:)

Ah, I see. What an interesting process. That coloring part seem pretty tricky, unless one could use two layers of mylar, painting on the reverse side of the second layer, leaving the original clean if one make mistakes.
You see, I am probably not good live art material, haha! Trying to weasel my way out of **** ups beforehand... Thank you for sharing that information. What did you work with doing animation?

Great pictures Per. I especially like Octopussy (what else can it be?)

As to the nudity, I think it's not only the fact that your representing members, but mainly the context: the troll's erection was unneeded and (in my eyes, grotesque), and the picture of Emelie rather weird in general, whilst the one of StormBorn was really food, where the nudity was a more artful one, which is what Per has done here.

As to that last piece, Sparrow, that is probably one of your best paintings I've seen! It's simply amazing.

You know, I think the same thing. I think that TFF could take over the world if we put our collective talents together...lol.
