I do so hate Tau and Necron, don't ask me why since I don't know. But Whenever I read about them or see them I want to fly into a rage.

    Your opinion matters.

Necrons are crap 'cos they're boring to paint and their troop types are limited. Tau are slightly cooler, but nowhere near as cool as Orks.:)

Models are only boring to paint if you have no imagination to try and make them look better. That being said Necrons do take the piss a bit with their zombie mode and Phase weapons lol

Tau annoy me the most with their 2hr shooting phase we're they are like oh now let's shoot 20million shots from here oh and here and now here and now here and now here and now here. zzzzz. Not to mention their "Oh I can come out in shooting phase to shoot you and then jump back into cover during assualt phase". Lame.

Eldar are probably the coolest out of the 4 here, but unlikely you'll be seeing an Eldar/Ork win against Necron/Tau. This ie because most people can't play properly as Eldar/Orks and Necron/Tau are intuitively easy to be powerful with.

Nope. Necrons are crap models, pure and simple. Even the designers realise this, which is why they never add to the range. Crap is crap, however you dress it up, and Necrons are crap.

Not really. Seen some pretty good Necron models out there. Maybe you just haven't been able to see to believe. They are what they are, robots (sort of), and they pull the look off well.

Nah...I've been painting and converting for 25 years, and the Necrons are the most boring range I've come across...

Is that specifically GW products or others? I've only been at it for about 10-11 years, so I've not seen all the original models.

I'm not saying that the Necrons are not boring. I'm just saying they're not entirely crap. For what they are (fluff wise), they look the part, and with some imagination can be "spiced" up.

I suppose it's a matter of taste. They just lack character in my eyes, as do most races that consist of generic clones. I'm not a fan of GW models, anyway. I prefer Ral Partha and Hearbreaker. Citadel used to make interesting miniatures before Warhammer, but now their range is so geared towards the game that I feel they've lost their variety...

Well technically the models are for the game and with it's WYSIWYG rules it is kinda needed. That being said I'm pretty happy with many new SM models they've come out with. Cooler poses and gear, and much more versatility.

Yeah, but that's the problem - everything is geared for the games. The Citadel sculptors used to have much more freedom to come up with weird, cool stuff. Now everything they do has to fit into the wargames template, which i think is a shame. After 1st edition Warhammer everything changed...:(

Yeah, their craft has got better, but at the expense of their imagination. I still prefer the old days...:)

Well I don't know....the old SM weren't particularly imaginative. Plus sometimes it's not about imagination but what they are forced to produce.

I hate Tau for their super powerful guns - they gun my nids down in waves! :( and I can hardly shoot back (I can try but nid accuracy is horrific!)
and I hate Orcs for their boyz (cheaper and better than our gaunts? that is not allowed! :()

Yes but no more Choppa power reducing Terminator armour to 4+ (that was some serious BS right there).

They were cool, too. It's a pity GW gave up on them. I'd quite enjoy painting a Squat army...
