    Maia's can go, but I doubt they would let Sauron. He doesn't deserve it. He'd been a very naughty Maia. He ranks right up there with Melkor, and since they cast him into the Void, I think they would do the same with Sauron.

    I think that in the book it is infered that he doesn't want the kingship, in that you really don't see him as this 'larger-than-life' character that one associates with a king. He is humble, and in that it makes him seem like he doesn't want to be king. Even when they introduce him as the heir of Elendil in the book, he still seems humble.
