I must admit I'm not the most reptile friendly person, but your little guy is really, REALLY cute. Oddy, the 'Snake Whisperer'.:) And you respected his dignity by not dressing him up in a hat!:)

You should go to the local pet shop and get one of those castles that people put at the bottom of fish aquariums, something for him to explore and slither in and out of. Though perhaps he would tie himself up in a knot.:)

A story I once read on a gaming forum went like this:

Guy had a pet snake, a constrictor of some kind (larger than Oddy's). This snake one day decided to go on a roam and thusly broke free of its cage and explored.

He found the snake wrapped all around and within a large section of terrain he'd made for the table top - a castle fortification.

In the end he had to put the terrain and snake all back in the snakes enclosure as there was no way he could untangle the snake without destroying the castle in the process.

I'm sure he would love a castle! But I haven't seen any in the pet stores I've been to recently. But I put quite a few ivy branches in his tank, he just loves climbing them ^^

I'm so glad you guys like him ;D He's even cuter in person :p

That is a very cute snake (and a great photo of it ;))

It must be quite odd looking after it though… Especially coming from Poland :)

That is one outrageously cute snake! (Even without a tiny hat! :p)
I have to admit that, like Sparrow, I've never really been into reptiles as pets, but the Captain sure is cute :D

In december I took care of two very similar snakes while their owner, my friend, went home for Christmas. It was very exciting, mostly because snakes are so exotic for us, Europeans, and I enjoyed it immensely and missed them a lot when I had to give them back :) That's why I bought the Captain.

I always thought it would be boring to have a snake but it turned out to be very interesting : O I really like to watch him climb things and swim and hunt little fish. I'm actually learning a lot about reptiles and I love it :)

A long time ago I had a myna bird from India as a pet and a friend came over with his snake, quite a bit larger than Oddy's little guy, my myna spotted it from her cage from across the room and went absolutely nuts... a flurry of feathers! My friend had come over to ask me if I wanted the snake because his girlfriend told him it was either her or the snake. I couldn't take the snake because for me it was either the bird or the snake.:)

Seems like it would be very therapeutic having a snake. As I suppose they don't have emotions like dogs or cats they'd be fun to watch in their natural state. The last two snakes I met I had to kill; a Pygmy Rattlesnake in the garage where I used to live, and a Cottonmouth that was snoozing behind my fridge. I think that's why I'm a little uneasy around the critters.:)

Yes, snakes make very different pets than dogs or cats. You can't really interact with them too much. No hugs and no cuddles, especially with a snake as tiny as mine - it would get squished! ;D But I think it teaches you to respect their instincts and needs. Snakes are not very social so it's best just to let them be (there are people who simply can't stop bothering the poor animal, touching it and taking it out of their tank all the time) and appreciate the opportunity to observe their habits. They really are very interesting animals.

That's sort of how I felt with my myna bird. Dogs and cats have long since been domesticated and are meant as pets, but snakes, lizards, and birds seem less suited for it. I was sad when my very noisy and messy bird escaped out an upstairs door, but I also hoped she made it and lived out her days doing what birds do.:)

Why the heck can't my camera take pictures like that!
No matter what I do my pics look like a tourist shot them with a cheap smart phone.

And I just wanted say, here in America we do have a proud tradition of burlesque shows going way back to the wild west days... of a scantily dressed woman singing an old torch song with a snake draped around her. You should do something like that.;)

Snake eyes always amaze me: they take up a large portion of the head.
Those are amazing photos Oddy :)

Thank you! He is the most adorable captain I've ever seen :D

Haha, I'm pretty sure that with me "scantily dressed" and with the Captain kinda on the small side no one would notice him xD Although I could mayby use him as a necklace :D

Thank you, S.J.! ^^ The eyes sure are big! I guess that's one of the features that make the Captain look so cute :)
