    Re: The Hobbit film

I don't think the Hobbit is going to be made, last time I looked it up, the people who owned the rights to the book weren't giving them up, and all the people needed for the film were too busy doing things elsewhere.

I wouldn't seeing Liv or Bloom, just as long as they stood in the background and just added to the scenery.

    Re: The Hobbit film

Just read an interview in TV Guide where they interview our 4 favorite hobbits and they say:

Q: Will there be a Peter Jackson version of the Hobbit?
A: I'm pretty sure ther will be. People want it so much. There was talk of us playing our characters' relatives. I'm sure we'd all make ourselves free for that.

So does that mean Elijah Wood will be playing Bilbo?

I don't think Ian wants to be Gandalf again either, he said he wanted to do theater.

    Re: The Hobbit film

    Hobbit will be made
PJ is finishing King Kong, then his next project is a World War I movie he's writing right now.
Once that is complete, then onto the Hobbit, we all hope, but he has said it will get done soon after Kong.

New Line and the other studio who own the right WANT to get thsi made. It's too much money and profit for them not too, they will and are working it out.

Ian McKellan has said recently he already told PJ he is in for Gandalf the Grey in the Hobbit, and that he would plan his future performances around it, as he loved the role so much. Ian Holm may still be a young Bilbo, as PJ loved him in the role, and he did look convincingly younger in the beginning of Fellowship.

Other hobbits, Arwen, Legolas, and everyone else are all speculation. Except for John Rhys Davies( Gimli) He has said he will NEVER play a dwarf again. The makeup scarred his face for life.

    Re: The Hobbit film

Ian has actually said the opposite, he loved the role. On his own website he talks about how he hopes there is a Hobbit movie made.

I also think Ian Holm would still be good as Bilbo. Bilbo wasn't that young in the Hobbit after all.

I doubt they'd cast other people as anything more than a brief cameo. It'd be way too back-to-the-futurish (camp). Its not like they're in hobbiton for very long anyways.

Of course, where is the girl going to come from? We all know what they did with Arwen in LOTR, and well there is neither a love story, or a girl, in the hobbit. What will they do... Leave it as it is (as it should be) or add some PC girl-power.

I think bringing characters back for no good reason is a hallmark of a bad sequel (or prequel).

I hope they're in the hobbit, they're both the two most gorgeous stars of lotr (besides Eomer and Frodo) who would liv play, though?

    Re: The Hobbit film

There exists a real danger in my opinion of doing to LOTR what happened to Star Wars, if they make the Hobbit a movie for all of the original characters to make cameos (aside from the necessary characters - Gandalf, etc) - they will ruin the films! Star Wars is a disappointment, precisely because they have taken this massive galaxy (albeit far, far away!) and have shrunk it down to be able to sneek a peek at everyone from R2 to Chewbacca (Ep3), please PJ keep it with the book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if he does keep it in line with Tolkien, having a character from the originals play a new character in the Hobbit would just plain be ridiculous, we wouldn't believe them to be anyone other than how we first saw them! Who could Liv play, or Elijah, or Sean Astin - you couldn't follow that!

    Re: The Hobbit film

I agree completely. Cameos are a bad idea. It makes the story/movie seem less serious. And they had better realize that there is no need for a girl in the movie. Sheesh, can't they do something original for once and not have to have things a certain way, just because it's always done that way?

    Re: The Hobbit film

Why would'n Ian Holm be Bilbo.. in the begining of FOTR he played yunger self ...
I would like that P.J. directs The Hobbit , and I think he will..
He loves LOTR and knows that he will make alot of money with it..
I don't think that they would make such mistakes in casting as putting former Frodo as Bilbo that would be hidious..
only problem is is hollywood willing to do Hobbit..
