It is a 4 foot hilt with a 3 foot blade, with a slight curve. kind of like a naginata in that sense. I dont have any pictures yet, ill try to find some, or take some of mine.

Its a vicious weapon, you fight from the hip, powerful slashing attacks... I think it was used by mounted warriors a lot, back in the sengoku period.

Yeah he beat me. The nagamaki is a very difficult weapon to go against. It can slash, stab ect. Plus it is a polearm which gives great reach. Going against one is hard, especially with a sword. HackandSlash is very good at polearms too.

That sounds like a nasty weapon you got there. I am Currently a 3rd Dan in Aikido so i know a little about sword fighting. I think a good boken with a good user can be the most deadly weapon out there. It is very good for slashing and it has amazing balance for if you want to take one hand off and pin someone.

Um you cant slash with a bokken. its a hunk of wood. And wood isnt know for its esge holding properties. And bokken are less lethal than swords hence the reason they are used by JSA practiioners alot, less likly hood of losing a arm.

EDIT: not to be disrecptful of someone holding a Dan ranking in aikido, I know what high level Aikidoka can do. Scary stuff.

Im sure he meant katana. They are known for their speed and weight. They used to be good durability, but japan doesnt have those hard working traditional blacksmiths anymore. But not to get off topic but, hackandslash, did you make or build that?Because it does seem like an interesting weapon. That 4 ft hilt probibably gives awesome leaverage.Giveing it incredible speed.Plz do post pics.Im intriuged.

Umn yeah katana are known for their weight, being teh same as a comparable european sword of 6 inches longer. So yeah short heavy blade, can be fast.

imnot saying a bokken isnt deadly. A club is one of the oldest wepaons in the world next to teh rock and sharp stick. But they are used for practice because they are less dangerous than a sword and easy to to be safe with.
