As some know, i have been assembling a Ranger costume that will be worn to Dragon Con , a convention.
I already have aragorns bracers, as well as i had a custom doeskin long vest made, a shirt, pants, boots.
I am having a custom belt and baldric system made that will hold my custom sword, Gwailas, as well as my Twin legolas style knives on a back sheath.
The newest peice i have is a shirt of chain mail (stainless steel) which will be worn under the long vest as shown.
I just have on a tshirt and khakis in this pic, so his is ONLY modeling the chainmaile and vest. I have my Chrstian fletcher ranger belt on over the vest just to get an idea of how things will work together

Very nice David S. I think I'll be doing an Aragorn costume for Halloween. What sort of pattern or spec did you use for the doeskin long vest?

Thats a nice sword "Gwailas" is it?
it looks like aragorns ranger sword only in brown leather, but a bit different.

oh NO NO, that sword there, is NOT gwailas, that is a Angus Trim / Christian Fletcher Ranger sword. You are right, it is inspired by aragorns sword and its in oxblood, not brown. That is not the sword i will be wearing with the finished costume though. Below is a picture of Gwailas

I can tell where half the inspiration for your actual sword came from.

actually it was designed around Glamdring, then the pommel was changed to be similar (not identical) to narsil, The Burl wood handle is complete original, and the whole shape of the blade and guard where changed to become something new.
this is definantly an "inspired by" sword, but it becomes something new. Doesnt look or feel like a copy

it looks good, i could tell it was inspired by glandring from ther cross-guard, but the pommel is a dominant feature when you first see it, i also really like the shape of the blade, which looks original enough.
