I'm thinking of getting the MR Peter's Sword. Does anyone have any opinions on this item?
    Thanks

I bought one for my son. It's a nice piece for that price range. Far superior to the UC LotR stuff as it is actually functional. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality.

That's not too shabby. How does it feel in the hand?

It's not too bad, a bit blade forward in the feel but I've seen a lot worse. The mass distribution is a bit off in the areas of distal taper, pommel weight, etc. But as I said, for a sword in this price range it isn't unreasonable. The blade has a bit too much flex in it for my taste, as many Windlass swords seem to have these days. I also wished they'd made the profile taper a bit more acute, as is the actual movie prop. All in all though it's nicer than I thought it would be. The pommel and grip riser are gold plated and the pattern is nicely stamped in the leather grip covering, which is neatly stitched down the opposite side. The blade etching is also neatly done. I wish my first functional sword had been this nice.

Clearer versions of the pics can be seen here: http://www.pbase.com/khp_plk/swords__other_weapons&page=all

    Great pictures!

Having just visited Albion in person last weak, I can see why you would have many of their swords. :)

I thought about getting Peter's sword instead of another LoTR one. It sounds like it's a solid sword, for the money anyways. Is it just the pictures, or does the gold plating look more like it was painted on and if scratched or handled often, would evetually peel off. Thats the impression I get from the pictures. Of course a picture never does the sword justice though.

    Thanks Thorin.

The blade decoration is etching that is filled with what I assume is gold paint. I doubt it's solid gold at that price. It is fairly deep and neatly done.

Judging from the photo on CBs website they're selling the same sword.

There is only one company making Peter's sword to my knowledge. MR has the only license so far and I have a good feeling that the it is the same sword. The only time you will see a sword that looks like Peter's and is not made by MR is when a company is illegally reproducing it... cheap fake knock-offs... sometimes modified so that they don't step on peoples toes. We saw this with the LoTR swords, but I am most certain that it is the very same sword.
