@RayCaptain would Bataar, his father, his grandfather or his great-grandfather remember seeing or hearing legends of Paragonis in the centuries he had been alive, or is he just another withered old man too dependent on magic and trickery?
It is possible that one of his ancestors had heard of them. I do not think of them as great record keepers, but especially at the time of great tribulation. I imagine the horse lords were probably one of the savage tribes to come out of the East to unite the races against the great goblin army, for instance.
Just to let you know, the wild men and horsemen were from the West, the goblins and ravagers from the east, unless you specifically want them to be from the east, which is fine. Either works. The quest will take us the opposite direction, far to the southwest. The long journey will likely take months, perhaps up to a year, as the group is beset with those who would stop them from their goal or destroy them outright.
Oh! I totally misread! That's entirely my mistake. I definitely just failed my cardinal directions outright. Goodness gracious. I'll think of something! I have to work but I intend the base character to remain the same even if his underlying motivations have to change. A horselord from the West.
could be if you want. I've intentionally made this world have a multiple-interpretation aspect, and if you're interested in that, just PM me. You'll probably find it pretty easily if you read between the lines of the backstory.
Yep! Just like everyone else, taking into account the setting and what others have already written. Start wherever how want to start and make your way to the tavern where everyone else is, and when you describe things, try to use descriptions that don't contradict what others have already said. For instance, there's a lot of descriptions of the various factions in the sign up OP already, but those have been elaborated on by others in their background and introductory posts.
