I just graduated high school this summer. And when I think about all that little stuff that seemed so hugely important seems extremely tiny and insignificant now. I can't believe some of the stuff I worried/thought about as important. Kudos to those who figure that out early on in high school. I was never involved in all the big drama stuff, but I did some of the whole teen high school angst stuff, especially my junior year.

I think most of the childish, petty stuff goes on because everyone's focus is so narrow. All through middle school, you gear up for high school, thinking once you're there, you've made it! And then you get there and it seems like that's all there is sometimes. High school. Whoopie! As teenagers, the focus is so "me me me" most of the time and it's easy to lose track of the bigger overall picture and how other people think/feel. High school is only 4 years of your life. If you live to the average age of 75, that's only four seventy-fifths of your entire life!

This last year, I've heard so many people say how much they'll miss high school. And I couldn't really figure out why until I really thought about it. The ones who will miss it were the "hotshots" the "popular" people. Being "hip" in high school made them feel important, like they were really a "somebody", you know? And as soon as high school is over and you head out to the real world, you quickly discover that being the most popular cheerleader who dated the hottest guys means absolutely nothing. And they don't want to be "nobodies" like the rest of us. Poor kids... hope they figure it out someday... :D

Like Radagast said... I actually think high school drama's amusing, probably because I never get caught up in it. One reason is that my high school is pathetically tiny - we have barely 60 students (it's a charter school.) The other reason is that I hang out with guys - overall, I've noticed that girls are more given over to the malicious gossip deal, and that gets boring.

Hey, I miss school for the social scene, but I was anything but a "popular" guy. I was one of the shyest, quietest guys in my year. I left about 2 and a half years ago and got straight into fulltime work. And thats when I realised, school was so easy. And since I'm lazy, I wanted to be back there. :p lol.

Oooo.... Shes gonna give you a virtual kick in the nuts for that. :p :D

Eh, it's ok. Less expectations on my intelligence just means I can outwit you faster while your jaw is still on the floor ;)
