A friend of mine made me a gift of this scabbard.

This is only the second one he's done and I think the results are impressive. I purchased the bronze fittings here: www.quietpress.com This was the last major bit of equipment I needed for my Norman kit so I'm very appreciative.

No, the wall isn't really that ugly. It's actually a dark gold that always seems to come off with a greenish tint in photos.

Nice work. Is it wood covered with leather, or just leather? Any more photos lurking around?

And I think my mate has that same scabbard tip, very nice. We love Raymond's :)

It's made with a wood core covered with leather. I don't go for overgrown knife sheaths for swords. ;)

    Here's a few other photos.

I'm a big fan of Raymond as well. His quality is very good in relation to his pricing, not to mention that I usually receive orders within 2-3 days. There are other sources out there that povide better detail but I'm really not comfortable with their price v. quality ratio.

Yeah, there definitely is a law of diminishing return with accessory suppliers.

Don't suppose you could PM me your friend's details could you? I'd like to pick his brain about how to put on of these type of scabbards together. My questions are mainly to do with how to fit the leather snugly onto the wood core. Shaping the wood I know how to do.
