I recently read an aritlce on Aol.com and it was talking about religion.

so i'm here to ask you, are you still following the religion your parents taught you, or did you convert, or forget religion altogether?

Catholic as well, always was, yet I'm doubting the catholic wisdom- I'm doubting religion altogether, but then again, I believe, so... I don't know what I believe in.

My parents were raised catholic, but they weren't religious, so because my grandparents were catholic, they and me and my brother followed the same traditions, but were never religious. We went to a catholic school, were baptized, had communion etc..., but my parents were never really religious and neither am I, so I went for the third choice.

I wouldn't say I've converted, but my religious views do differ from my mom's.

Well I don't know which to select. My mum wasn't raised religious but she is kinda spiritual but doesn't believe in any organized religion or practice any religious rituals etc She believes basically that our energy is passed on when we die, not an afterlife but along those lines. And she's not far off I guess, when you go into the ground you become fertilizer so your 'energy' is passed on lol My dad was raised a Christian but he never talked to us about it, he never goes to church etc. Basically we were never raised religious, we weren't told anything. I think that's why when all of us heard about people actually believing in a magical bearded dude in the sky, we thought it was..... Well... Nuts. But what can you expect? We just learned from science, as my dad is a scientist, but he never told us 'There is no such thing as god'. We were just left to it to come to our own conclusions, result, me, my brothers and sister are not religious in any way. We were never christened or anything like that.

But I selected the third answer as it is the closest, though the way it is written implies my parents were/ are religious but I swayed away from it. When I didn't.

Born and raised a catholic. I'm still Catholic, but I don't follow all their "teachings" as it were to the core, e.g. I believe in the use of condoms.

I think I'm more spiritualist i.e. just believe in God. The only problem I have is when people think Catholics pray to saints. They don't lol. They "ask" the saint on their behalf to talk to God to help them and whatever. I'm a scientist myself and I can see the probelms with having a god, but I can also see where science fails to answer a whole lot of questions, so in the end it comes down to a matter of faith for believing in something I cannot quite prove, in the same way people can believe in the Big Bang Theory yet cannot prove it.

Well remember, the theory comes from the fact that we know the universe is expanding. So of course at one point all the time, space, matter etc existed and came from one localized spot. They know this happened, but just not why it happened or how.

Actually my teacher told me that they have detected that some of the farthest planets are behaving oddly. I mean all matter is suppose to be decelerating and if it has critical mass will perform the Big Crunch, but infact some of the planets are accelerating. They don't know why though.

That's as well as I can remember though, I think I might have remembered some stuff shoddily, so you'll have to look it up and find the true "abnormaility" in the current theory.

Well indeed people are a bit skeptical about the Big Crunch theory, I myself am not setting on it. But what they said is also possible that time, space and matter will merely reach a point at which it will fall apart, rather than spring back to where it was. I think that's the most likely, but then again, nothing is certain so I'm not placing my bets on anything. I have an idea, but I don't say 'I believe'.

Oh yea, what I had meant by my previous post was that this new founding could mean a diauxic growth in universeal expansion and hence mean that we've overlooked some major forces in play and would have to rethink the Big Bang theory.

My parents were protestant (Reformed) when they brought me up. I am now full-time atheist, though the parents are now probably agnostic.

Mom is a buddhist and dad an atheist. I later converted to Christianity in early teens due to my cousin's evangelizing efforts and I later on went to a Bible Presbyterian church, which strictly speaking is part of the Protestant church system.
