China. Pure numbers would let them destroy anyone they wanted.

I dunno dude. Back in Ko-rea, the Chini did the whole human wave thing, and while it was effective, we still went back and forth with them. And you have to remember this was a time when the US had no assault rifles. Now, If the Chinise tried to use sheer numbers in a fight, they would be mowed down like grass under my john deer.

You wish you could bag on the men that were there, but it's not their fault.

It was a bunch of military stupidities from the head of affares and sich. We were told to fight like we had in WW2, which was traditional.
Another thing was that terms in the Nam were only 1 year long, so once a combat man got used to the jungle fighting, he was shipped home.

And don't EVER try to diss the poor guys who were there by using sarcasm about their war.

First of all: I was kidding.

Second of all: Even the greatest armies make mistakes. One 'tied' war isn't so bad for all the battles we've fought.

Third of all: We could have won if we had remained in Vietnam.

Fourth of all: Who'd you vote for? Are you saying they never lost a battle?

Fifth of all: What WS said.

I have a soft spot for Nam vets especially because when you see a grown man break down and cry about his buddies that were killed because of stupid decisions made by the brass........... it gets ya.

There are so many reasons to feel bad for Vietnam Vets. It's really tragic.

It can be funny listinin to Ferris though.......
He was a Marine back in Vietnam and he only talks about it when he starts the subject.
Almost every story he tells about Vietnam has, "I pulled up my M16 at the Gooky, and..... JAM!"
    It's funny as hell somtimes.

What a crock! I think you will find there were a "few" British soldiers/sailors/airmen etc in the Pacific region at the time. Not to mention the British Commonwealth, Dutch, Chinese, Canadian, Free French and so on forces. Hell even the Soviets put in an appearance.

Once again it wasnt the US alone here.

Considering the fact that you should have learned a lot from fighting arguably the best jungle troops of WW2 in the Japs, and spent 10 years watching (and aiding) the French shambles in the First Indo-China war. The US forces should have achieved more.

One should feel sad for vets of all wars.

At least they get respect. Vietnam Vets get their well deserved respect nowadays, but when they got home.. well, a lot of people weren't happy and they took it out on the wrong people.

First of all I wasn't insulting the men who fought in the war. I have always had the greatest respect for those who would give their life for their country.

Secondly, I was pointing out that even though you maybe be considered a super power doesn't mean you are all empowered, as proved by the Vietnam war. This is called black comedy. Sorry if you don't like that method.

Don't worry Met, I'm sure WS and Kak won't hold grudges.

Anyway, the thing is we never said America was all powerful or anything of the sort. Yes we did say they had the strongest fighting force (or whatever) and that's because it was true. America has usually had help in war but I'd be willing to bet that we put more into it then anyone else. I'm not going to look it up or anything (yet) but you know...

    This is rather tasteless...

these "Gookies" were people, too. They didn't particularly request the Americans to partake in that war. They were, basically, fighting a war for their own ideals or, possibly, independance.

And whilst we are not to comment on the Nam war when it concerns American losses, Vietnamese losses are to be laughed at?

It's either one or the other, WS.

That is debateable. The F22 has a slight edge on it.
