I really enjoyed the magic system in VIII. I liked not having to worry about running out of MP. I also liked it because it was very unique. What do you think?

Drawing magic was a good way but when you went up in a big battle if you ran out of a certain magic that could have an effect what do you do then and if you try to draw magic it might not have an effect as for materia its there all the time and you only have to stock up on Elixir and such like before hand.

I didnt like the drawing system. Thought it was a bit bad for an FF game. But I did like the way you good equip your magic to your health. That was a good idea. Which was nice considering I rarely use magic in FF games.

THe magic in FF8 has its pros and cons. You don't need MP to cast magic, but you guys are right, there's a limit to the magic, and magic abilities aren't specific to some characters....

I found the Junction system confusing at first like Mr Doyler. That was the reason my brother stopped playing the game.He likes FF9 and FF7 better

it was...unique to say the least...

the first time through, i finished the game with a level 30 average, and about 10 of each spell, just because i hated drawing magic constantly...

but my second and third time through, i leveled up to 100, and drew 100 of each spell (including before the fire cavern...100 thunders refined into 20 thundras, and i took out that giant spider just for fun)...it was the most rewarding playthrough ever

i voted i liked it, mostly because i dont care for the MP system...it wouldnt be near as bad if you could actually BUY ETHER!!!...very irritating

The junction system in itself was a brilliant idea, it just sucked with the drawing part. It was way too easy to max out on a particular magic spell u wanted, like Meltdown or whatever.

FF8 had the best magic system ever! Junctioning magic was cool since I never used it (if all your characters at lv100 you don't need to)

I didn't like it, probably coz I was so used to the materia system in FF7.

I wasnt really a fan of the materia thing in VII. The junctioning was something fresh, just too easy to get max stats with.
