All right. Before we start let's remember that this is a debate forum and not a flame forum. Start by telling what computer you use, why, and your history with PCs and Macs.

I was born into a home that used macs. Since I didn't buy them and my dad did I'll say why he did. He decided that since he started with macs he might as well keep the whole house in one operating system. He also likes the computers and OS better than PCs and he's also getting into video editing. I use an iBook with OS X.2 though I use windows 98 in Virtual PC almost every day. We also have a PC running Windows XP set up here as a server.

Ok. I grew up on a MAC and converted to a PC and now I own both. I own a brand new powerbook g4 15.2" and love it. It is amazing. I do all my graphics, etc on it. I like my PC to though. There are somethings a PC does better and something a MAC does better. I like them both.

What are some of the things your PC does better?

I found this movie on the web. I don't know if this guy is a tribute or a shame to the mac community but anyway, I give you the ULTIMATE
    MAC ADDICT.

i'm a PC girl. i grew up using PC in school, own a one and taught basic computer classes on them at a community center. almost everyone i know uses PC

i'e tried using MAC a couple of times (my roommate has a MAC and in the computer labs on campus) and it's a difficult transition. i've heard that when you are first learning computers MACs make more sense than PCs.

    to each there own

I don't have such a big problem with PCs in general. I realize that DELL makes some really good machines. Its mostly Windows I dislike. I've actually come to dislike anything that's not UNIX.

Ok MAC's are more efficient as far as memory usage goes. There is a common myth as far as MAC's are supposedly better at turning out graphics. Not true. They are just more efficient. Also PC's now adays have become very efficient at mem. usage and some new dells are running Adobe Photoshop as good as Macs. Not G4 macs but as good as some iBooks, etc

What about the G5s? *shudders* Very true. One thing I like about macs is that they are far more efficient as far as energy usage. Of course that's not exclusive to macs, it all comes down to the differences between RISC and x86.

The g5's are mind blowing. The first 64 bit processor. That was like when n64 came out and blew everyone away. Also I do not know how many people have noticed but the MAC designers have thought of everything from the case look to the OS trinkets and things.

What was kind of funny was how this one person came up with all this evidence on how apple cheated on the test and was quoted all over the internet. Then the experts shut the guy up because it turned out he didn't know a thing about what he was talking about.

Thanks for that info. Could I have that in english please? Do you mean Microsoft makes PCs what they are? Or do you mean that MS produces them?

If you're going to play games then get a PC. Sure, most of the best selling games are coming to the mac but the PCs have the game market.

Update: I have an iBook and for schoolwork I have a brand new PC. 2.4 GHz Celeron, 80 Gig HD, 256 megs of RAM, and Radeon 9000 64 megs of VRAM= < $400

Now I can play EA's Return of the King game!:D

Too true. Virtual PC is really great. But with Microsoft buying them they haven't announced anything about support for the G5s. I like macs better, but it's become necessary for me to use a PC as well because its like this: I'm home schooled and the curriculum I use only works on windows. Up until now I was able to run it on Virtual PC but with the new updates for the software its so demanding that it won't even run on Virtual PC so I need a PC now. There is one good thing about it though. Here's the link.

I have a PC and I've been using PCs most of my life. Personally in my opinion, PCs have better compatibility with software and peripherals but MACs overall are a much more stabler system.

I don't know about that. Even on the mac Internet Explorer is at version 5.2.3 and it runs better than the internet explorer on my PC. And as for peripherals, I plugged in a game controller the other day and it crashed my system.

I feel sorry for my dad though. Before we all got PCs he disliked windows. Now that he has to use it he hates it.:p
