Yeah same for me, I saw the first one cinema and the last one. Both because I was dragged there. For me, I just found them far too long. It was stretched out to be deliberately epic in length rather that letting it last as long as it needed to. So much could have been left out, and that is why it became tedious. But with SW, often GL had to cut it down, especially with Episode III which would have naturally lasted 3 hours or longer, but he cut it down cause he knew it wasn't necessary. But I think the extra footage would have brought more to the stories than the extra footage does with LOTRs. As said, as a movie achievement, it gets my thumbs up, but personally it is not for me..... In any way shape or form.

You find Star Wars more detailed than LOTR?The characters of Star Wars being more realistic?Discrimination against race and sex? Here we go again...where do you see the discrimination against race?Where do you see discrimination against women?

I'm sorry but someone who says all that stuff can only be described as a "noob" in Tolkien if you know what I mean. You sound as if you never read Tolkien in your life man!I mean come on!All that stuff that you're saying are not valid!

    *groans*

Every time I seem to visit tff I read the same old, same old regurgitated :(

Everyone likes different things ~ I prefer LoTR to SW, I prefer the books to the films, I thought the original SW movie was very good, the rest less so. The SW books, that I've read, generally have been poor, with a few exceptions. I own all the SWs movies but honestly can say I've watched them all ... once (apart from the original SW film which I've watched more). They don't 'pull me in' as Tolkien's world does.

Now this is what the SW crowd will say ;)

Everyone likes different things but we know best ~ we prefer SW to LoTR, we prefer the films to the books because even we accept the SW books are sh**e, but at least they prove we can read ~ and enjoy our space-fantasy world , I thought the LoTR movie was well made but boring because there were no lightsabres. The LoTR books are dull too because they also have no lightsabres even in the Appendices. We own all the SWs movies, watch them daily and dress up in our Jedi outfits whenever and wherever possible. We feel the force when someone gives us a good slap :D

Hey, to each his own... You're entitled to your own opinion...

How right you are, Elladan, most star wars books are really shite! They can't grasp what Star Wars is about and they can't as many fans understand that star wars is fantasy... They don't tap in the same mythology as the movies... They mostly are crap... And most SW fans really get on my nerves by complaining about the smallest parts in either the movies or the books... So I guess I'm not a Star Wars fan, cause I just can't take that crap with these guys... They are so stupid as they don't understand what the story is really about. They claim they are star wars fans, while they are only complaining about the prequels and for nostalgic reasons say the originals are better...

In my opinion the Star Wars prequels were much more "Star Wars" than the original trilogy because they looked exactly like all those cool stories in the comics and generally the Expanded Universe which is good.

I actually just prefer the originals because of the whole atmosphere. It just seemed more fun. The new one's are ok, but the old one's did provide a sense of epicness with it's nostalgia. Tbh it's also because Hayden Christensen's acting spectrum ranges from "about to cry" to "about to throw a tantrum". Lol even in Jumper he had this whole weepy look about him. He kinda spoilt it for me, because everytime i saw him I couldn't help but laugh at him, which ofc took me out of the atmosphere of the film.

The Star Wars movies were crap, the LOTR movies were crap, so it's just a matter of deciding which is less crap. I'd go for LOTR. Even though the movies were Hollywoodised BS filled with nonsense that wasn't in the book, at least they contained dialogue that Tolkien wrote. The dialogue in Star Wars appears to have been written by a monkey being given electroshock therapy...:saurumon:

If Tae Bo is the one with Billy Blanks then I chose that one for a good reason. HE COULD DOUBLE TIME Darth Vader DEAD!!

It's fine as a piece of lowbrow space opera, and a reasonable way to waste a few hours if you've nothing better to do. It just doesn't cut the mustard for me, I'm afraid. The cod philosophising and risible script really rub me up the wrong way...:)

I vote Taebo because Billy Blanks kicks ass in a spandex singlet.
