i used to play the TCG. Not interested anymore, not because that its immature (hell I was playing when I was 20) but because just not interested, just like Magic, not interested anymore. I think I have about 1500 cards of the older set. Didn't like the new pokemon lol. So yeah...tried selling them on ebay..and failed.

I am wondering when a Pokemon card has damage as 20x and under it, the card says that the damage is 20 times the number of heads you get by flipping a coin. Does that mean that if you flip no heads the attack does no damage. Because that would be 20 times 0 the way I see it.

Are pokemanz and Jortart pokemon? Or something else. I have never been to a tournament but have learned that there are tournaments held near where I live. But I want to understand the rules better and am thinking to take my children to it if they show enough interest. My 9 and a half year old Liem and Willem (13) may be the only ones interested which is fine. The other two seem more interested in simply collecting and trading the cards. Although they have invented their own rules.

I do not like the Pokemon cards that say flip a coin and if tails then the attack does nothing and I like even less the cards that say my Pokemon takes damage when it attacks. Why do you think they created cards like this? Personally, I avoid those as there are plenty of other cards with attacks that don't hurt my own Pokemon and that always do damage when used.

yes if you fail to get any heads in a (number)X roll it does 0 damage. Jorick was that flamer who I changed his name to be Jortart. Cards are created to damage your own Pokemon usually when the attack is already very powerful, its a way to balance it out. And the pokemon games on the DS can go wireless.

Start playing it again so you have more to say than one sentence. Also more on the card damage thing, the 20X like attacks sometimes are actually quite good and if you want your kids to get into the game I recommend going to a Pokemon League first.

Thats a link to the organized play site. You can look up leagues and tournaments in your area.

Personal opinion: They should have left it at gen 1. They've now (in my eyes) managed to drag the franchise through the mud so much that I roll my eyes whenever I hear that yet another iteration is being released.

eh, I though Y was fun, but yea, personally think that should've ended it. unless they make something huge, Moon was a bit of a downer in my eyes

They always do this, don’t they, with popular series. They drag it until it becomes disappointing  I didn’t even watch all those versions. Onlt the original Pokemon which was really fun:D Pika Pika Pika Chuuuuuuuu:eek:

I have fond memories of scrambling to get up on time on a Saturday morning in '97, just to sit in front of the tv, legs crossed with breakfast on my lap watching Pokémon. Lots of fond memories of the game and show in Gen 1. I just can't understand their consistency though. It's been going for what, 20 years, and the 10 year old boy hasn't aged a day! That's what irks me, alongside the terrible designs these days.

lol, it's just what I've heard. I actually don't think it's true, but you never know. most shows do a bad job of aging their characters though

Pokemon has basically remained ageless and fixed at its target audience. So whilst there are lots of stories and quests and adventures in the series its still aimed at the same age group it was invented for way back when it started. This works; instead of advancing as its original fan base got older; its kept true to its history.

If anything what surprises me more is that we don't have any real strong clones of the gameplay; esp for a clearly large older market

Well mobile games are super lucrative - tiny investment (compared to regular games) and yet the micro transactions can turn a fortune in profits. Heck Angry birds is basically a very basic physics game most coders make at coding school and yet its made an utter fortune!
