What did you think of this scene? For me, the only good part was Gimli's response. I mean, we already know that Legolas is SuperElf from TTT, but did we really need to see him as SuperSuperSuperElf?

It was a bit over the top on the believability scale.

Yes, it WAS a bit over the top, but it was still really cool to watch.

But your right, without Gimli's response, it would not be nearly as cool.

It was cool, and i would endure the overthetopness just for the gimli comment.

I found the best part of that scene is when he had climbed onto the back of the Mumakil, and he was still counting, that just cracked me up! 32, 33, 34....

yeah thats was good, and he didn't seem to be worried about the fact that he was riding a stampeding Oliphaunt with nothing to stop him falling off.

That's the thing that makes watching Legolas and Gimli kill so great, they act like they're just playing a game and never seem to realize that if they mess up they could actually die...

I, personally, loved it. Though it is nothing more than an opportunity for PJ to show his love for over the top effects, it does serve a purpose in that it shows the elves' dexterity.

Even if you didn't like the scene itself, you would probably suffer it because of Leggy's counting and the Gimli comment.

Though I'm not quite sure yet whether they overdid the "small bearded fat man is a handy comic relief" thing.

Yea, i thought it was one of the best scenes of the movie, only behind faramir's suicide charge and sean astin's acting in general. It was AMAZING!

I thought the whole skateboarding on a shield scene was bad enough in TTT. But this one was even worse. I agree with Gud, we don't need a Supersupersuper Elf.

It was over the top. Cool but over the top. But I'll endure it just for the "that still only counts as one" line.

I think it's quite over the top. I mean: his name is Legolas, not Goku.

I agree with Nienor, the surfing thing from ttt was pretty overdone, and now this...

what about the horse-mounting in TTT, i thought that was unneccesary. but the oliphaunt was pretty cool, to be honest it wasnt much more than a normal person with good agility and relexes could do. Climb up arrows while avoiding trunk, shoot some haradrim, cut the rope and fire an arrow into the things head. It's just the way he did it that seemed over the top.

Well the only part that was that extreme was really him sliding down the trunk, that was all that seemed unbeleivable. As to the surfing on the shield, that's really just a matter of balance, now killing Orcs while surfing on the shield may be a little cheesy. Same with him mounting the horse except that was more of agility. I mean you gotta think, the guy's an Elf, and he's considered a powerful one at that, that's saying a lot. Even though PJ doesn't give them much credit at Helm's Deep, Elves rock. I think it's just the fact that we haven't seen very many good examples of Elven abilities. The only thing is sliding down the trunk of the Mumakil....

I think it would have been better to have Aragorn and Legolas load Gimli into a catapult and launch him into the tower on top of the mumak. Let the dwarf take out everyone up there, including the mumak.

I liked Eowyn's performance against a mumak better. But I'm also in love with her.

I have to agree about Eowyn. But i think her performance against the Witchking wasn't as good as it could have been. Anyone agree? Something was just missing I thought.
