I'm just wondering if anyone can give up any info on future dates for LFK, namely Kit or Swordsman?
    Thx.

Luckily, I found a place that has them in stock. I ordered them Sunday, and they'll be here Saturday. Thank you Froogle, you saved me months of waiting, and $50-$60 off the retail price.

Now it's just the scabbards for me. Just . . . $90 to go!

I wish I had better news to tell you about the knives but the fact is that Isimply don't. United has increased there production rate to try and keep up but the orders for these knives still keep coming in. We have people on our pre-order list that goes back to Sept of last year. So you can imagine our frustration everytime we look at our e-mail box or ansewer the phone. We have suffered many cancelations because of this as well. It is not our fault or Uniteds. It is just a matter of when United can catchup as to when we will start to get larger supplies of this product. We cotinue to get small numbers each week of them but at that rate we will be shipping knives our next year. WHat we have hopes for is a large shipment...like 264... that is what we need to fill the pre-orders. And folks we are not the only one suffering with this just about all retailers are in the same boat.

I hope United will begin to get caught up enough to finally get caught up.

Mine came Friday, yay for me. They are very beautiful, and I don't mind the dark handles. And to answer my own question, they are about 13 inches wide when on the plaque. Luckily, thanks to math class, I was able to calculate this.

Also with my plaque there were two rectangle felt strips along with the four circle felt pads. Does anyone know why?

The 4 circle felt pads go on the back of the hanging plaque in the 4 corners - there's a picture of how to go about constructing/hanging the plaque with the knives and it shows you this on there. It's to stop the whole plaque from sitting flat against the wall I think.

As for the rectangular ones - not a clue - have to say I wondered the same thing when I got mine! Maybe they're to go down the centre of the back of the plaque to add a little extra wall protection?

I wrapped one of them around the cap, so the edge of the blades rest on the felt instead of the wood.

Also, when I got mine there was a lot of dirt on the blades. I was able to get it off with some cleaner, has this happened to anyone?

The dirt is actually oil residue. As for the rectangular felt strips, they are indeed for the centre cap, so that the blades are not resting on the wood, as you said. The second one is for the scabbard extension.

So I was trying to fall asleep when I had a revelation. I forgot about the store where I got most of my LOTR blades, and knowing they had a shards last time I was there, i thought "what the heck, the worst that could be is that they don't have them"

But lo and behold, I walked in and much to my suprise they had a pair on display, along with a Herugrim to boot. So I bought LFK, and they are so sweet. After all these years since FOTR, I finally have Legolas' knives. If they were the only ones I could ever have, that would have been fine with me. They are so awesome. They feel like they were made to actually use, that you could take on a few orcs. They are so light.
