Anyone here do any large battles, with 6+ people in it? Whats the largest you have done? What are your thoughts on it? Even you haven't, what do you think of large fights?

Large battles are a lot of fun, but they are a lot harder to get used to than one on one fights.
especially if the other team has archers(I HATE ARCHERS!!)

How the heck do you get to do stuff like that? Of course, I live in a small town,so its probably common, but not where I live.

Group fights (we call theme melees) are great fun. The more the merrier (and the noisier!).

The biggest fight I've been a part of with my group was about 17 vs 17, just within my group. It was awesome! Longswords, sword and shield, glaives, axes, spears, so much noise from all that steel ringing and clanging, and I 'killed' 5 or 6 before I got munched by about 5 people at once :) That was a huge day of fighting, but a normal day at training is usually 8 a side, 5 or 6 a side on a slow day.

Swarrt, I think lots of posters in this thread are in the SCA. Look up www.sca.org for your nearest Kingdom, and/or ask them for groups like mine. We're a stand-alone dark ages re-enactment group. All us historical groups tend to know of each other so ask around and sample a few to find out which one suits you :)

We put on a reenactment of the Battle of Hastings for a production company working for the History Channel. A total of about 12 warriors showed up, two of them on horseback, representing 1000's of those who were on the field that day in 1066.

Actually that's where I got my new avatar.

We're members of Regia Anglorum in the US.

It was great fun, but was I exhausted at the end of the day's taping!

Sorry. It aired Saturday, Nov 20. Knowing the History Channel, they'll repeat it until everyone gets tired of seeing it.
