this is definitely one of those series that everyone who likes to read fantasy should read. Even people who don't read fantasy should still try it. It's amazing how good it is. One of those on the top 10 Must Read lists

If there's a book/series as good or better than ASoIaF please, tell us Kshar. I'm afraid I'm never going to be able to really enjoy other fantasy again.

Better is a relative term. it's all to the opinion of the reader as far as I'm concerned. Besides LOTR which is a must read, I think and I know Roland will agree that Stephen King's The Dark Tower series is another fantastic read. Try The Talisman by Stephen King as well. Jack Whytes Dream of Eagle series is another excellent series. The biggest problem with it tho was the last book wasn't what everyone expected and kind of left everyone asking WTF? Everything else about it tho is fantastic. Very, very believable, realistic and accurate

Yeah, that's true. I've given up on epic fantasy, but there are other types of fantasy I still enjoy a lot. :)

epic fantasy turns into WOT so often. Authors sign contracts for so many books and have nothing to write about them so they turn into crap.

Yep. Although WoT isn't all that bad... it's nothing beside aSoIaF, but it gives me something to read in between rereads. *waits for the inevitable flaming*

I don't insult WOT fans I think reading the books is enough punishment in the first place.

You chaged your name! GAH, I was thinking WTF, who has over 5 thousand posts without me ever seeing them. Then I realized that you had murdered your old self. I really need to get used to these name changing boards.

I'm double posting I know, but it is a must. Guess what,
    I AM DONE
Thats right, I just finished the last one, which I must say was a snore fest. BUT, It was great, thanks to everyone who encouraged me through the series, I shall go on and do the same for others. I can now post away at the ASoIaF forum! SO HAPPY! See you around the threads :D.

Good job Soul. You're now officially obligated to post in the AFFC reread sections. And I was thinking about proposing a series reread soon, so watch for that if you're gonna read em again.

Awesome stuff, I will definantly do that...Asumming the library with let me check out books ever again, AFFC was a 14 day loan...I had it for a month and a half....two? There was already late fees for the first three...oh dear. It's not that I don't finish them in time...it is just...it is so hard to part with them. Maybe if I get lucky I will win that competition and get my own copies...

Jnanee, when you find it and start reading ask me and I'll find the thread for the first week of the AFFC reread. As long as you read the chapters first there are no spoilers, and that way it'll be an up to date discussion for you (and someone to talk to about the stupid book for me!)
