Your "and not a bug - promise!" made me wonder if it could be a spider instead. I'm pleasantly surprised!
Spiders are cute!
I love owls
Did you have a hoot taking that pic?
*hangs head in shame*
I see what you did there. You should be ashamed.
What an amazing photo. We sometimes hear owls at night here but we never get to see them.
That one looks like a baby ... is it?
AA that was baaaaaaaaaaaad!
Thanks all - and yes SJ this was a baby owl, out of the nest but still young. It sat on the tree for a long while in one spot, very still. Long enough for me to go inside, get the camera and come back. It was likely waiting for its mother to return to feed it.
That owl is awesome! If he were in my back yard, I would name him Zoramandius.
He is soooo flufffyyyy!!!!!
Zoramandius is an oddly appropriate name...
It is an oddly owl-like name indeed!
I'd count myself really lucky to see such a wild bird. I've only ever seen owls here in wildlife sanctuaries. The ones I've seen were pretty impressive birds.
Like you, SJ, we're lucky if we see anything even remotely approaching that where we live. We do see the odd Tawny Frogmouth from time to time, and even though it's not actually an owl, it looks similar enough to give me all kinds of warm, happy Harry Potter-ish thoughts. They're amazing little guys.
Nice capture, my friend!!
