Sorry guys, I forgot I even made this thread I got so wrapped up in work. For those interested, I went head over heels into fantasy after the first Lord of the Rings film when I was in my teens, I didn't know it was a book series (until I was a teen anything with magic or fantasy themes was looked way down upon in my parent`s house.) I was always drawn to fantasy images as a kid but again, couldn't do anything about it, but when my parents got over things and let me try LotR, I went nuts and haven't stopped. I started just an avid reader and played any video games with that theme and finally moved into tabletop gaming which made the addiction worse, lol. For any who don't know, my name is actually a reference to Bahamut from D&D who is the king of dragons and called the platinum dragon, which is his color (all dragons in D&D having a color which tells what they are). My obsession for dragons should be apparent. Thanks so much for the welcomes and hellos everyone. Sorry if I went too detailed, but this is still new to me so I'm learning when to shut up, lol. Thanks guys.

Ahh you're amongst fantasy fans so most of us are avid readers so don't worry about rambling on :)

Glad to hear that you've jumped into fantasy and it seems you've jumped into lots of it at all levels from books to the tabletop! Lord of the Rings is a very powerful work and many of us were drawn into fantasy by the writing and the films. If you want something matured in the fantasy (with dragons) have you heard of the Game of Thrones> ? (ok that might be old news by now as the TV series has made that super popular).

Since you like dragons I'd strongly suggest having a peek at

A dragon wargame for the tabletop - check out their kickstarter (now ended) link on their page to get some more info and a look at their product (its going on sale - fingers crossed - around Halloween this year)

Wow, that wargame looks amazing. I'm not much of a player when it comes to games like that (I have a horrible time grasping how to play and strategize) but I love painting miniatures and could definitely get into this. I've been trying to find a decent dragon to paint that doesn't cost all of what little I make. As for Game of Thrones, I tried to read the first book, but I'm a bit of a prude so the cussing and mature themes kind of killed it for me. I know it's a good story, and very well done, I won't dispute that, but it isn't for me. The dragons do make me want to at least watch the episodes involving them.

Platinum you might find you like the Pern series by Anne McCafrrey - a very popular and long running series of books with dragons!

And yes the Drake game has some very affordable dragon models! A lot of the other dragons on the miniatures market can look fantastic but also cost a very large sum!

Sorry to say but I had to Google velkommen. Thank you, lol.

I'll have to check out the Pern series, I've always seen them and wondered how good they were. I usually hit the used book stores in my area where it's hard to find the first in a book series. I'll have to buy the first when I can.

Wow. I haven't thought about Dragon Riders of Pern in a couple of decades almost. Is it still in print? If so, yeah, it's a good series... as fantasy writing from the late sixties goes :) Seriously though, that's among the first fantasy series I ever got into. It's worth a read.
