Oh hello there... So I joined this forum out of a whim. I have an interest in fantasy, I'm abit of a noob (I haven't heard that word in ages haha), I really enjoy writing short stories, and I love J.R.R. Tolkien's works, but that's as far as my knowledge goes really (bad I know :( ) but I am wanting to learn more and get more involved in other fantasy works and such...
Anyways, that's enough blabbing from me. *Waves manically* :)

Hey there welcome to TFF =)
Don't worry Tolkien is enough to get you started and he really is the greatest :D
If you're looking for another really great series: A song of ice and fire by G.R.R. Martin is def. worthy of checking out. Warning: it's not finished yet, so frustrating waiting time is included ;)
Take a look around, most of us don't bite. If you have questions, ask the next nerd you can find on here :)

Welcome to TFF PixieTook89, fellow Tolkien enthusiast!

Hope you have a fun time here, and you can look around the Book- and fantasy world forums for more inspiration, as well as talking about Tolkien (which I sorely miss).

A word of warning; It's not all too good to write in a massive font like that.

Thanks for the replies guys :)

I shall check out G.R.R Martin, I looked it up and they sound very interesting.

Haha I personally find massive fonts easier to read... Maybe its time to go to the opticians haha, but I'll remember that for future reference :p

    Hello PixieTook89,

    In solid agreement with RunningWolf--Tolkien is the Father of Fantasy, so undoubtedly a good one on which to cut your teeth! You can also check out Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle, Herbie Brennan's Faerie Wars or Purple Emperor, and there is always Harry Potter, of course, a series that is finished completely with no waiting time for the next installment. {Just to name a bare-bones few!}

And if you love the languages in Tolkien's works, you can always check out my latest manuscript, The Son of Drynntorm... after it's published, of course :)

Inheritance is blasphemy! You should read the Belgariad instead (as Inheritance is basically a bad rewrite).

My friend and I predicted the end before reading book 4, having read book 3 when it came out and not again since.

I did read the Belgariad, so the "Be Not" part doesn't come as a surprise! (unless you haven't read such a good series)

    Have you read Inheritance yet?

Everybody knew the end before Paolini did. It's only published because both his parents are publishers. Like Daniel Raddcliffe's parents are casting agents.

naa I have only read the first three, im not in a hurry to read the last one..
I did enjoy Eddings books lots more, but i've read worse books than Paolinis. like Shannara.. or the Elenium.
But atleast Radcliff's got more facialexpressions than Kristen Stewart <.<

But maybe we'll not use this thread for this convo :D

    We should stop spamming.

Kristen Stuart does have (one) facial expression: pain.

I haven't read the Elenium, but The Redemption of Althalus is very good!

    Hi all,

I've been looking for a busy fantasy forum that is not full of gooey eyed reviews of Twilight. Hope this one works out. I answer to a few earlier posts, another good saga (generally) is the Thomas Covenant series by Stephen Donaldson.
