I don't know how fast the members here read, but I am already on the 200th page of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. It is surprisingly dark, but the story is very rich, and I can't wait to read more.

    What are your impressions?

I'm with ^. Finished in about 9 hours, 10 if you count a break I took. I'll wait for others to finish before putting up my comments.

I just finished, took me 10 and a half hours, that's including taking care of my two year old. It was dark, but good. I'm still not sure about the end. :(

    I'm ready for book 7!!

Should we start a marked spoiler thread for end of book discussions?

It took me like all day to read it because I'm the slowest reader on the planet. I was disappointed because the book asn't as good as I thought it would be. The Half-Blood Prince wasn't even a big part of the story. There was no big part of the story, just little things that happened. The plot was not that exciting, there weren't really any new characters introduced except Slughorn, but there wasn't even anything exciting about him. It was a sad comparison to book five........

    Hehe, I just finished too.

...at 2am...this is the longest it's taken me to read an HP book ever...lol.

I think it left me with more questions than answers...now to wait another few years -_-

hehe, just finished it this afternoon. And as been said, it's really dark. I liked it for that. However, I don't think it's JK's best. I still liked OotP better, tbh... The storyline wasn't as thrilling as in other HP's, but, as been said, JK isn't looking for opening more riddles, she's come to answer them in the last two books. Guess I like riddles better...

However, I don't think this is a children's book anymore. It's lost all of the innocence the young Harry had, it was a pure thriller. If anyone had that opinion about book 5, it's even worse for book 6.

That is a VERY interesting question... That's got to be a concept mistake...

    This is from www.jkrowling.com.

Now clearly, ghosts aren't meant to be able to handle objects, since they are not materialised (enough). Mourning Myrtle should be no exception, but apparently she's got her own set of rules...

    ps. Welcome to the forum!

I didn't think the new Harry Potter book was that dark. I thought it was kind of boring. I agree with Turambar, riddles are better than answers.

    yeah... hmm...

Do you think we will get all the answers in the end? I can totally imagine JK leaving us guessing about something. I think it's the best way to assure your book(s) are remembered. Popular themes are the "what if"s and the "... - but how?..."s. I like being left guessing about something. I think it's one of the great fortes of the first 6 books, so why not part 7?

I agree with Turambar. J.K. Rowling is sure to be remembered for all the guesswork she gave us with thte books. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince did answer many questions, but they still left holes in between. Turns out most of us disliked "Professor" Snape for a good reason. The "Half-Blood Prince" thing wasn't much difficult, except you start thinking of Tom Marvolo Riddle as you know that he's a half blood. Then turns out the whole world was wrong and it was Snape!

But it figures, doen't it? I mean, he's a Potions Professor and everything. Careless of him, though to leave that book behind...
Still, he couldn't accuse Harry of having the book without connecting himself with it. I don't really mind though that his spells were used against him by James. He had always been buried in the Dark Arts anyway. Besides, he didn't want compassion from anybody did he?

True, the sisth year at Hogwarts wasn't as dark as the previous one; but now Dumbledore's gone. Shattering, isn't it? To think he could have trusted Snape!

Ah, well, I've said far too much already. Still, I can't wait for the next book.
