Would you be willing to become immortal if you had to forsake your morals to do so?
Note: This is not a roundabout way to secure live test subjects. Honest!

No. Why live forever if you can't stand to see yourself in a mirror?

This thread is virtually Flame of Recca part 2. :p

Seriously, I don't think there's any meaning in immortality if morals are forsaken. It's like the said person living like a zombie.

Well, if you were aware of it, I think living eternally going through life offending people and realising that by your actions you make the world a crappier place.....I don't think that'd be very good.

On the other hand, if you lose all your morals, you simply won't care about anyone else so it won't matter to you.

On the other other hand, if you do something immoral and get arrested "for life" and you never die, that's a long time in jail :D

I honestly think this poll is spiralling into a joke topic despite what the starter may have intended. :S

I'd choose immortality. Morality is subjective in any case, and I'm more than happy to follow my own path rather than subsist on the diet of sentimentalism society feels fit to hand me.

Well I actually thought it over for bit... and I chose immortality. My morals don't mean anything to anyone anyway and I seem to put some people in one of those ungodly moods anyway so why not?

Teehee - I didn't see this one before...

There's a problem with gaining immortality with immorality; you have got the possibility to think about your acts substantially longer then a lifetime. And I am not quite sure about what sort of level of immortality we are talking; the sort that one gets rid off with the aid of - say - a speeding train or a high building; or the more definitive Mount Doom sort... It's something you want to think about on beforehand. Do I want to live the rest of... well, eternity, with what I did?

And in that frame of reference, I'd say it's best to uphold morality :)

I'd choose morality, because (apart from the obvious descending into a pack of barbaric, lawless animals) our mortality is what makes us special. The fact that we only have a limited amount of time is what makes life worth living.

Get rid of the end (irrespective of how that end may be) and our lives become bleak and nothing. We lose what makes us special, what makes life unique.

I'd choosen immortality, it wouldn't be pleasurable, but you would learn so much. See so much. It would be an experience few others would know. An amazing, yet certainly, agonizing experience.
