    Re: Drizzt Do'Urden's weapons

Hehe. You need to read more. Icingdeath is an ancient elvish sword and I dont know if its drow or not. But it was found on the surface, yes, but it was in a dragons named icingdeaths lair.

    Re: Drizzt Do'Urden's weapons

oh ive read plenty.. lost track of the time ive read the series

heh heh u need to re read my post.. or better yet.. here let me repost it for you so there is no more confusion on your part

i know that the frostbrand was found in icingdeaths lair..

    what im say is

in the description they give of the swords where u can buy them at.. it says both swords are decorated in dark elvish script...

    Both.. twinkle and icingdeath

so both swords that drizzt uses that he got in two completly differant locations just happen to both have dark elvish script on them?

Were they made by darkelves? and if so how can they survive under the sun of the surface?

Did surface elves make magnifcent weapons and then put the script of their most hated enemy on them?

im not arguing the story line of where he got them or anything like that.. just that these new replicas both have dark elivish script on them... is that coincidence that both have them or what? did he have it etched in later? ?????

    Re: have a question here

I have edited the thread subject line to be a little more descriptive.

You should elaborate which books/movies/shows these weapons are from, maybe we can help, Personally, I am not familiar with them.

You know, there doesn't seem to be any difference between them apart from the curve in the script. Neither of them is even a scimitar...

    Re: Drizzt Do'Urden's weapons

First i liked to sat that im am new and please be patient with me. About the comment about if htey would rot in the sun if they were dark elvish. Only Adamantine supposedly rots in the sun and the dark elves use adamantine all the time. About twinkle it is has been said that in the books it has a diamond edge on it to give it more strength and to be sharper.

    Re: Icing Death and Twinkle

I second your question for myself. As far as I can offer along the lines of an answer, they are produced by Atlanta Cutlery, which I believe produces only functional swords. Also, it would seem appropriate for Salvatore's personality. However, this is only speculation on my part. Why don't you e-mail Atlanta Cutlery and ask them? Sword companies are usual pretty good about replying to such questions.

I've merged about 5 threads into one and renamed it. I've kept it in General W&A though, because it's a fantasy topic, but the swords for sale are billed as functional, so tp oput it in one or the other would seem somewhat contradictory.

These swords are made by Windlass Steelcrafts of India, which owns both Atlanta Cutlery and Museum Replicas Ltd.

All Windlass products are billed as "functional" and are, to one extent or another. Some are better than others. One of the problems with Windlass products is that their quality control varies widely from piece to piece so it's always a crap shoot. I've seen some that I was pretty impressed with for the price and was surprised it had been made by Windlass. Others were such incredible pieces of crap that I couldn't believe they'd been let out the door. However, they are cheaply priced when compared to first quality functional swords so you get what you pay for. One positive note is their liberal return policy. Unless you order it sharpened you can return the item for a refund without question.

The hilt is solid nickel silver with silver plated scabbard mounts and it's based upon an historic example in European Daggers, by Bashford Dean. This dagger is functional and of pretty good quality for the price.($117.00 shipped) This is a better example of Windlass quality control.
